Our very well used dryer stopped heating up, so we called Affordable Appliances. They sent out a tech to repair it. Turns out the coils on our heating element had broken. The tech rigged a temporary repair so we could use our dryer while the part was on order. We were only charged $ 45 for the cost of the new part. Very happy, since we were dreading the possibility of having to endure the cost of buying a whole new dryer!

They do not offer refunds!!! I would be surprised if any of their inventory works. We are on fridge number TWO! Both same story, really nice guys deliver it, hook it up and plug it in… The fridge works for ONE DAY then the freezer starts warming up … Then goes the refrigerator. Both eventually getting hotter than it is in the house!!. They send out their ONLY repair guy, who is nice, but he can’t do much when the starting out product is broken beyond repair. Neither unit that we received from them can hold freon and we are tired of losing food! Not worth the discount. They have a horrible rating on BBB. I wish I had done my research!!!

Last and final update — Well they win. After showing up at my house at lunchtime on 9÷9÷2015 (when I was assured I would be first stop) the parts ordered didn’t fix the issue. Kevin decided to take the dryer back to the store to diagnose the issue himself. I was told that the crew would be at my house on Saturday (9÷12÷2015) for pickup and would make me the first stop. Upon further clarification with Kevin, he informed me that the crew would show up whenever they could. My being first stop didn’t guarantee any particular arrival time. After almost loosing one of my two jobs (yes I work 7 days a week to support my family) because I had to wait on these people I couldn’t take the chance. I cancelled the appointment. I just can’t afford to loose my job because these people don’t care. Hopefully this post will save one person a lot of hardship.
Update as of 9÷9÷2015 — I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The complaint was closed because this company did not reply. The dryer still has not been fixed and they are refusing to refund my money. If I could rate them with a negative number I would.
Update as of 8÷27÷2015 — This issue still isn’t resolved. A week after my first review Kevin actually came to my house to look at the washer and dryer in person. When he left he promised to order parts and possibly rebuild the dryer. A week later I called him and was told the parts were not in. It is not another week and I haven’t heard a thing. I WANT MY MONEY BACK AND I WANT THEM TO COME GET THEIR APPLIANCES. Save yourself some time and don’t even drive past his company. There are two locations (North and South Austin). Stay away from both.
Original Post: I purchased a stackable washer and dryer September 2014. I also purchased the PREMIUM warranty. It’s been an up and down saga with this company as I’ve had to call for warranty work several times over the past several months. For the most part, the maintenance was completed (although it was like pulling teeth to get it done). This time however, was the last straw. In May of 2015 I called asking for help when the dryer would not function properly for small loads. The maintenance technician sent to my house took pictures of the door panel with serial numbers and called Kevin at the north Austin location for guidance on what was wrong. A week later (after no return call from Kevin) I called and was told that my dryer needed a control board. Kevin was very clear that this is a very expensive part. He first wanted to find a used part. I explained to him that I purchased the premium warranty and wanted a new part. THEN THE STRUGGLE BEGAN! I will spare you all the details. In short it is now August 2015 and I still don’t have resolution. In my MANY phone calls placed to Kevin, I have heard EVERY excuse under the sun (received the wrong part, give me the serial number again (and again), can’t find the part, the part is on it’s way, and my favorite… I will call you right back (NEVER HAPPENED). At this point I fully believe that Kevin is waiting for my warranty to expire. I fully expected to have minor issues with this set as they were used. I didn’t expect to be treated in such a disrespectful manner by this company. Buyer beware of Affordable Appliances and Kevin.

Do not buy appliances here. Agreeing with most comments below, we have had a very similar experience. We were sold a defective refridgerator that broke 5 times before we were able to get AA to come service it. Once we did get people to our home we were told we needed to pay half the price for the part in need of repair (not stated in their warranty). It has now been 3 months with no sign of our old refrigerator and we are out the money we paid for the original fridge plus half the cost of the «repair.» Thankfully we were given a replacement in the interim but it is one that is much lesser value than the original fridge we purchased. We have been told it is being «worked on» but seem to never get a call back.
Aside from the horrible product we have been treated disrespectfully, hung up on, and never called back. I am surprised entities like this stay in business. I, too, have submitted a claim to the BBB in hopes this business will not be able to treat customers in this way and steal money for defective products.
Please do not buy appliances here.

Bought 3 fridges, 2 stopped working within a month. Takes over 3 days for them to come repair. By then food is lost.

My landlord bought a washer from these guys to replace our broken washer. They called to say that they were on their way, which was just fine and dandy.
They arrived, took out the old washer, brought in the new one and installed it, all within 5 minutes. It was like they were rushing to get out as soon as possible. I then decided to do a load of laundry and a little bit later when I went to put the clothes in the dryer I noticed that water had leaked all over the floor. The hose they installed with the washer was cracked and had some putty on it as if they had attempted some makeshift solution to fix it.
I called them around 2pm and they answered, and I told them what happened and they said that they could come back and replace the broken hose with a working one. Well around 7pm they still hadn’t come by to replace to hose, so I decided to call again to check if they were going to come. They ignored my phone call and their inbox was full so I couldn’t leave a message. I may update if they redeem themselves but by the looks of these other reviews I’m not hopeful.

I purchased a used stove. A very nice Jenn Air. When it was delivered the technician discovered that the burner caps were not the correct ones and called the office asking that the correct ones be ordered. I was scheduled for delivery the following week and then was told the wrong ones arrived. This happened repeatedly for several weeks. waited on at least two saturdays waiting for the technician for nothing! The owner assured me he was getting the burner caps and for a month i have heard nothing. I call and leave a message and nothing. Today i was told the manager was at the south location and was with a customer and would call me within half an hour. 45 minutes later i called and was told he would call me in five minutes. When i finally got an answer from the south store i was told he was not there and had not been there. Again they took my name and number. I told the receptionist that i had g=found two sources online for the burner caps. She said i was welcome to purchase them my self and that they were restricted to order them from their supplier.
They have no intention of providing me with burner caps and i“m sure this warranty is useless as well if anything goes wrong.
Four years ago i purchased a used stove from Alliman appliances and they were wonderful. I should have purchased from them again.
In my opinion buying used appliances is another great way to recycle.

don’t buy anything from here. Tina, who is apparently the owner’s wife, is a terrible customer service rep. How are these people even still in business with her at the helm? I paid $ 450 dollars for a w/​d Kennmore set from here and have had nothing but problems with it. They starkly refused to service the dryer when the belt broke not even two weeks after delivering it, and they replaced it with one that stopped working two months down the road. When I tried to get them to service it, they claimed that I would have to pay for the heating element in the thing, which hardly seems fair. DON’T buy from here! Tina is terrible! RUN!

BUYER BEWARE — BAIT & SWITCH! DISHONEST, DISRESPECTFUL, WILL BLATANLY SCREW YOU OVER
I went here because the appliances are on display for me to hand pick the items that I want. I picked out a washer and dryer in good condition in the middle price range, I also opted to pay extra for new hoses as opposed to used ones. Tina (the manager?) assured us that all of their appliances go through a rigorous final inspection before being delivered to the customer. The inspection was to include a full test of functionality and a thorough cleaning. She also said that upon delivery, the delivery guys would go over a checklist with me to make sure everything was to my «utmost satisfaction and that [I] would be ready to do laundry when they left [my] home.» Sounds great, make the purchase and wait for delivery.
Upon delivery the guys dented my walls and left greasy handprints all over my apartment. The washer they brought was so destroyed that the inside parts started falling out and they rushed it back down to the truck. They did not bring new hoses. They brought a dryer that was damaged, dirty and when it was turned on smelled like it was on fire — but they refused to take it. I called Tina again and she made the same guarantee as previously mentioned for delivery the next day. The delivery was scheduled for 4:30 PM when I WAS HOME FROM WORK but they tried to come by at 1 PM. I called and asked her to reschedule like we originally planned and Tina started yelling at me before proceeding to hang up the phone.
ALL IN ALL — I do NOT have a washing machine, I do NOT have a new water hose, I do NOT have a new vent hose, and I do NOT have a dryer that is undamaged, clean, functioning and non-​hazardous. I cannot get Affordable Appliances to respond to my calls or letters to come and get the dryer, issue me a refund or make the situation right. So I’m out hundreds of dollars, hundreds of dollars of merchandise and have no way to get rid of this useless dryer.

You get what you pay for.
Unless you’re at Affordable Appliance … Then you don’t even get that.
At first we were so happy. We found a new (to us) refrigerator, washer and dryer all for $ 850. The units looked great, albeit with a few scratches. We arranged to have them delivered for no extra charge on the day we were moving to our new house.
The big day comes, and so do our appliances. We get several scrapes in our walls and one big gouge from the delivery guys shoehorning the fridge through our entryway. Then we find out the dryer doesn’t work. Then, after 12 hours or so of letting all our food ruin in the new fridge, we realize it isn’t working, either.
And this is where the problems begin. Over the next three weeks, we have these guys come over time and time and time again, «fixing» appliances, taking appliances away, bringing new ones, scratching their heads, scratching our walls, telling us over and over «we don’t have that part… we’ll have to reschedule.» Every time we reschedule they say «We’ll be there between two and five,» requiring us to take half-​days off work to accommodate them. Every time we reschedule they say «We’ll call 30 minutes before we come» and they never do.
Our second fridge didn’t work, either. At this point we’ve spent a small fortune on bags of ice. Eventually they were able to fix it, but not after telling us on the phone that «it’s VERY unlikely that the second fridge is really broken, too» and «have you checked the wall outlet to make sure it works?»
We don’t like the fridge nearly as much as the first one, but after several service visits at least this one actually works. They banged it up and scraped the finish off when they delivered it, and it took three more service visits to get someone here to paint it. But as I said, at least this one works.
The second dryer they brought didn’t work, either. Two or three missed days of work later and they fixed it (although it makes a horrible whining sound … It’s so bad you can’t watch TV or do much of anything while you’re drying clothes. We had Affordable come out one last time to take a listen and they said it sounded normal to them. Of course it did.)
I would love to have my $ 850 back in exchange for my walls not getting scraped up. In exchange for all the time my wife and I missed from work to meet these stooges at our house. In exchange for all the condescension and attitude we got EVERY SINGLE TIME we called.
When you’re busy moving, the last thing you need to deal with is horrible products sold by horrible people. If you have plenty of time to deal with these shenanigans in the hope of maybe, just maybe, saving a few bucks, give Affordable Appliances a call.
