Amaz For Hair

Got my hair done here last month. The staff was AMAZING! Such nice, personable, beautiful people. I was recommended by my best friend to this place, and hadn’t had my hair done for so long. When I explained what I wanted, they literally said «this will be so fun!» She did everything exactly how I wanted plus more. Very easy to make an appointment– I got one the same day that I called. Very cute place. I would recommend this place to anyone! A little pricey but not much more than other great hair places in Austin. You get what you pay for :)

Was in thr chair for over 3 hours for an all over color and a hair cut. My hair is completly uneven and she had to keep going shorter to fix it. The color is more black than brown and i thought she was extremely unprofessional. I will def never be back.

I followed Rachel Saxon from another salon to AMAZ for Hair and I think we both might have found our «forever home.» ;) After almost two of years of dealing with an amateur colorist at a nearby large salon (er ub :/​), particularly when it comes to my crazy bright pinks and reds, I found Rachel! Yay! Gone are the days of super fast fading and bleeding, and continuous damage to my hair (the first time I saw Rachel, we had to cut 6 inches off my long hair)! Rachel is a true pro. This gal knows what she’s doing and her fun personality is just icing. And no worries… she can do «normal» just as well!
This quant salon, located in Rosedale, is [literally] a hidden gem (can be a bit hard to find of first visit), has a beautiful lounge area, lots of natural lighting, sells amazing hair care products (including the full line of Kerastase), and uses only the best products in house (including Wella color). It really is amAz-​ing! The salon owner, Ava, has been in the industry for years and could not possibly be more sweet or adorable. You can just feel the warmth flow throughout the salon she has created. No gossip, bickering atmosphere here! Simply serene. Makes each appointment even that much more enjoyable.

Highly recommend for any/​all of your hair care needs. Making an appointment is a breeze, either via phone or online. Sophia is a doll!

I’ve tried a lot of different stylist, and I can definitely say that I’ve found one that I can stick with! Rachel was amazing! She did a great job on my balayage. I left feeling beautiful, which is exactly how you want to feel leaving a salon. She wasn’t pushy about products (i ended up purchasing a shampoo), gave great advice, and didn’t harp on me for dying my own hair (it’s easy… hahaha). My favorite part of the experience was the overall vibe of the salon. Ava (owner) and Sophia (receptionist) were so sweet!!! It’s just the cutest, welcoming, and unpretentious salon!

Rachel is so AMAZING!!! She is a true artist. Whether I want to do lavender ends or change to a redheads or the fall and back to blonde for spring she ALWAYS delivers. I’ve been her to her for 3 years and have loved every second of it. She is easy to talk to but the best part is that she gives me the BEST instructions on how to keep my hair healthy and the color looking fresh.
I’m so exited to follow her to this new salon where the vibe is so positive and EVERYONE who works there is sweet and helpful.

I have lived in Austin for almost 6 years and have bounced around salons since I haven’t been able to find «the one.» I went to Rachel Saxon a few days ago and got a balyage done and it is perfect! She was so sweet and easy to talk to and gave me great styling and maintenance tips! Not only is she great, but everyone that I met working that day were so nice! I’m happy to say that I think I found the one!

I recommend stylist Jae here, she is so skilled in hair styling and coloring. I love my new hair color. Good job, Jae. I am definitely coming back.

Going to Ava for 12 years isn’t enough of a positive recommendation. People (still) regularly stop me in random public places and compliment my hair. I don’t know how, but the cut has longevity –it looks good from the minute I leave the salon until I come back ten weeks later. It is a great benefit to have bang trims included in between full cuts too and that extends the life of my cut. The products and salon treatments from Kerastase are some of the best treatments I have ever used.
The salon has a comfortable, be yourself feel. Only a few stylists (no more than 4 at any one time) helps to ensure that you are recognized and treated like a valuable client by everyone in the salon. Cost is «boutique pricing» but the service is very comprehensive where you walk out totally polished for the day.
Really great central location too!

Jessica Santillan is THE BEST stylist I have ever had. She is very professional and very experienced. She has always given me exactly what I want every time I sit in her chair. I came to her four years ago because my hair had been ruined by an idiot as VC and she transformed my fried damaged blonde hair into beautiful healthy blonde hair. She is the only stylist I have come across that really knows how to treat blondes. She takes such care when dying my hair that I leave with the beautiful blonde color that I love and my hair looks healthy. She is not only FABULOUS at what she does but she is a really great person. Jessica is a stylist that I trust and I know she really cares about all of her clients. I always have fun when I am sitting in her chair. I am her customer for life!

This is a catch up review for Colleen, whom I have understood to be situated here now. She used to dye my hair at her old salon. She’s an absolute artist with the dye! I will be calling her soon to set up my next appointment.
I asked for dark brown with no red in it, and definitely Framesi. She complied and gave me a beautiful dark brown with cognac/​golden undertones too it.
If she touches your hair, especially with the Framesi, you will ooh and aaaah.

I originally found Colleen through her previous salon Élan. I went in wanting to make my hair blonde «like it used to be» before those pesky gray hairs. Colleen took lots of time to make sure we were on the same page and tried several different processes to get it right. Despite the challenges, she remained patient and pleasant and got me looking great! She gave me a great haircut too! In addition to her talent, she is also a delightful person to talk to, and someone I now consider a friend!

My sister and I went to Colleen for the first time recently, and absolutely loved her. She really listens to what you want, and has no problem touching up on things you don’t like after the cut. She was also very helpful and gave her own professional advice (when asked). I would recommend her for all cuts and colors. AMAZ is an adorable little salon, everything is very relaxed and upscale. I couldn’t have been happier with my experience.

I’ve been going to Katrina since I moved to Austin 9 years ago. Not only is she cool and funny, she does great hair no matter what I’ve asked her to do. Lots of times I don’t ask for anything in particular, I just tell her to do «whatever» and I always leave with my hair looking fabulous. She’s a good and careful colorist, and her cuts grow out gracefully until the next appointment. I would recommend her to anyone, regardless of whether they’re adventurous or conservative, because I’ve been both over the years. I’d follow her anywhere (and I have!)
If you’re looking for someone who is calm and knowledgeable, who won’t push you into a look you aren’t comfortable with but can offer an expert consultation if you’re looking to make a change, or someone you can trust if you’ve made enough decisions for the day, you’ll love Katrina.
I’m happy she’s at AMAZ, because it’s a fun salon. Ava and crew are friendly and inviting, the salon is pretty and clean, there’s CANDY!, and Kerastase products. Call and make an appointment with Katrina — you will be a happy camper.

I love my hairstylist, Colleen, because I have naturally curly hair and so does she, I can really trust her opinions and suggestions (I’ve seen her I believe 3 or 4 times now). She’s so very skilled in this field! She gave me an ombré with this new technique and it came out FLAWLESS! And the prices are very reasonable. She’s so nice and friendly… Great place! I finally found my permanent hairstylist!

I have my hair cut and color/​highlights done at AMAZ for Hair by Colleen, the newest member of the Amaz family. I followed her here after seeing her for years at her previous salon, Élan. Colleen’s an expert, lots of fun, and I recommend her for cut AND color, she always knows what to do or can follow my expectations, and I leave happy every time. Colleen is a great addition to AMAZ, and I love the elegant and relaxed atmosphere. The Keratasse products are perfect for my wavy hair, and please, don’t stop serving chocolate!

I went to McKalla at Amaz for a cut. I have had good hair cuts before, but I have not had good service to go along with the cut. I always felt sort of ignored, treated like I didn’t know anything about my own hair, pressured to get services that I really couldn’t afford to get done. I left Amaz with exactly what I wanted, feeling good, and weeks later, I still love my hair. I can’t stop touching it when it’s down, I take the time to style it on the weekends, instead of letting it air dry. I love my hair again, and it’s all because of McKalla’s positivity and talent.

Brenda did an amazing job cutting and coloring my hair. I am very pleased with the cut and have had all compliments!

My daughter and I just got Brazilian blow outs from Brenda and Ava. They are fabulous. My hair is in the best shape it has ever been in. Ava and Brenda made the whole experience fun and the time just flew by.
Thanks to those wonderful ladies at Amaz I finally have hair I can be proud of.
