AMC Barton Creek Square 14

I don’t typically write reviews, but I left AMC Barton Creek feeling a different type of way. This review is regarding an employee of the theater. His name tag said Jesse, but he said his name was Alec. Typically when I go to movie theaters I go to enjoy a movie, I don’t usually get food. My boyfriend really wanted some popcorn so I told him I would get some while he was parking the car. What I didn’t know was that we’d come during a large rush, so it was good that I went in early. As I was waiting in line I noticed Alec’s line seemed to be deteriorating faster so I headed over to him. Within the 5 – 10 minute wait, I witnessed Alec handle two unbelievably rude customers, a family with screaming children, and an indecisive old woman. Simultaneously, he was helping the other employees with their orders as he passed by. I was somewhat amazed by this. Why? Because he had a smile on his face the entire time. If I were in that position I’d of dropped the smile a long time ago. It was finally my turn, and to make his life easier I just ordered a medium popcorn. I knew there were people behind me, but I took the time to ask him «How do you stay so polite and keep a smile on your face during all of this?» I also mentioned the fact that I was watching the customers before and was far from pleased by them. He replied with «well, ma’am, it’s all part of the job.» That shocked me even more because everyone around him either looked annoyed or like they didn’t want to be there; and then there was him. I asked him how much he got paid, and he jokingly said «not nearly enough.» We shared a laugh and went our separate ways. I couldn’t keep the experience to myself because someone like him doesn’t belong behind the counter of a movie theater serving unbelievably rude people their food all day. Not to mention the fact that he looks like he belongs on an Abercrombie & Fitch poster. Hopefully he’ll see this review and know that he made someone’s day, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I genuinely wish him the best of luck in wherever life takes him. You’re gonna go far, kid!

My daughter has autism, so we take advantage of the first run «Sensory Friendly Movies» whenever possible. It’s on the opposite side of town from where we live, so it’s not always easy for us to get there.
Today was a daddy/​daughter date to see a sensory friendly movie that has been on their website for months. My daughter (like most autistic people) has difficulty when plans fall through– and today they did. She and daddy showed up and were told the sensory friendly version would not be shown today. It was a wasted trip. Have you ever heard of an autistic meltdown? I would be surprised if she was the only one who had a difficult time with that news.

The fact that they have posted 30.06 signage, effectively disarming law-​abiding, licensed weapon carriers ensures that I will never again frequent this cinema. Gun free zones are nothing more than target-​rich environments for those that wish to do harm to others on a large scale. I will not be a defenseless target. I have been trained and vetted with license classes and background checks. I can’t say the same for those that come in with a weapon intending to do harm.

The hubby and I had another gift card for this theater so we used it today. Since it was during the week, you had to buy your tickets from the guest services guy. This guy yelled at someone coming in the theater who had bought her tickets at the kiosk to make sure she had a ticket. The poor girl was so startled I felt bad for her. If they don’t have anyone working at the box office, they need to have a usher to tear tickets so the customer service guy doesn’t have to yell at people. The next incident was at the concession stand. The girl working there was probably the rudest person that I have ever met. We were there for the first show, so there should be no reason to be in an angry mood yet. The theater itself was clean and the sound was fine. The only reason we go here is because of gift cards, there is no way we would pay actual money for this theater. I have noticed a steady decline in this theater, which is sad because it has a great location.

I came to see Star Wars in IMAX 3D last weekend. This theater has long lines to buy tickets so, make sure you get there a bit early. Overall the theater is nice, clean, clean bathrooms and friendly staff.
The concession stand employees are super slow and don’t seem to have the rhythm down of multitasking. The concessions are super expensive compared to the normal theater I go to. $ 20.00 for 2 large drinks and a large popcorn? That’s crazy to me. Of course you get free refills on both the large drinks and the large popcorn but, they are so big, who needs refills?
I was a little disappointed with the quality of the IMAX 3D visually. There was a lot of spots where it was blurry and the camera was moving too fast to see it so maybe it was the movie formatting or something. The sounds quality was amazing so that was a plus.
The seats are comfortable and the rows are wide enough to easily navigate around people who are sitting.
After 2 tickets and the 2 drinks and 1 popcorn it was $ 50.00 and that will keep me going to the less expensive theaters. Especially when the IMAX 3D was underwhelming.

This is the smallest IMAX screen I have ever seen. Decided to see Star Wars again to see it on a huge screen, only this screen actually seems smaller than the one I saw it on in Dallas. Don’t waste your money here.

WORST movie theater I’ve ever been to. I haven’t been here in five years, and against my better judgement, I relented, and we went tonight. The lobby was a mess. On a rainy Sunday evening of Christmas weekend, which would obviously be a big night for movie-​goers, there were only five people working the concession stand (for 14 theaters), and none appeared very bright. The kid serving me had difficulty counting the change that the cash register told him to give. The carbonation was out, so the sodas were flat, but they didn’t tell you that when they sold you the $ 5 soda. The popcorn was stale, and there was only one butter topping dispenser, and NO salt. Should have opted for Netflix and Chill!

Gross. Theater 2 smelled like an old, dirty bathroom. At the end of the movie, an employee must have noticed because there was an artificial flower smell when leaving that didn’t quite cover up the stench. None of the employees were in a good mood that day (one was so checked out that she was playing on her phone instead of helping customers). The Southwest theaters are better than this place.

Okay guys– let’s break it down.
There is a BAR inside the theater.
There is a student discount which gets you a ticket at $ 8.50.
Has date night EVER been more fun or awesome?!

In desperate need of renovation and better customer service. I love coming here because of the rewards program, but it still needs work.

The kiosk to purchase tickets is convenient and the staff are friendly (for the most part). However, the bathrooms are not well kept and they only had 4 concessions staff on a Saturday night. My roommate and I were 3^rd in line and it took 15 min to order a drink and candy. Whoever came up with the staffing schedule may want to add more staff. The theater itself is old and could really use an upgrade and there was barely any leg space. For $ 10.25 I can go to another theater like Regal and get leather seats that recline. I probably won’t be back to this theater.

Okay people this place is not THAT bad. I’ve seen some terrible reviews, but in my opinion, this was the cleanest and most well kept standard theater I’ve ever been to. Obviously it doesn’t have the charm of the Alamo, but it didn’t smell bad, wasn’t sticky everywhere like most theaters are, and had clean bathrooms.
I went on a Thursday night so I can’t speak for how it runs on a weekend, but the employees were super nice and the food counter had a great snack selection. I also love that there was a bar to get drinks (overpriced obviously… this is the movies) with a friendly bartender, which I wasn’t expecting the theater to have. Parking wasn’t an issue since it shares a huge lot with the mall; at the worst parking a few rows away may be necessary but a little extra walking never did any harm.
Tip: buy your tickets online beforehand. They have a kiosk to print them off instead of waiting in line to buy them, which is a huge time saver.

Parking is average at best. I had bought tickets online. Handed the attendant my phone, and he had no problem printing up tickets. Friendly and polite.
the bar inside the theater, MacGuffins, is a bit overpriced — $ 9 for a 24oz beer. The saving grace here was that it’s named after a phrase made famous by my favorite film director, Alfred Hitchcock.
The theater wasn’t dirty. Nor was it crowded for a Friday night.
One mild complaint was that they showed what seemed like a million previews. I was tired before the movie started. And I’m a guy who loves previews. LOL
All things considered, a typical movie theater. Nothing spectacular. Would go back.

This place was easy to find despite the construction working going on in front of the entrance.
The lady at the ticket booth was nice and courteous. I paid with my email gift card with no problems.
Went to concession stand to get our hot dogs, popcorn and drinks and went to use the rest of my email gift card but the cashier couldn’t scan it so he called manager over. Which took manager a few minutes to come. People behind me moved to another line. (I am sorry)
Then the manager scanned the bar code a few times and said OH, I am sorry you have to pay CASH your gift card isn’t working. I said that’s funny because the girl at the front booth had no problem using it?! He then tried manually entering the gift card number and it worked. He said ok there it is your balance due is X.XX. NO apology. Oh well he must been very busy at 10:00 am to have his mind so preoccupied. Oh well Next time I will just pay all in cash to avoid this issues.
The theater is pretty HUGE! Lots of Food items to choose. Lots of games to play too.
My only major complain is the ladies facilities near Theater 7 smelled like a urine. Though they looked clean. Just a heavy odor.

I like this theatre in particular for a few reasons.
I love how big it is.
I love that it is in the mall. We can show up early, buy our tickets, then peruse he mall while we wait.
Even though it is in the mall, it is never overally packed with loud teenagers, nor is it ever really busy.
Ticket purchasing is super easy. Use the kiosk, or go through the box office.
They have a full service bar!
Great theatre that clearly caters to all ages alike.

The facilities were filthy and the staff were terribly rude and not understanding whatsoever. My triplet brother and I, both college aged and with issued ID’s went to see Kingsman, a rated R movie. When my brother forgot his ID at home, however, they wouldn’t let him in. Even after giving proof that he was my brother (birth certificate photo, pictures of us thorough life, etc) they still wouldn’t let us in.
What’s worse is they made up throw away our expensive marble slab smoothies before coming in and wouldn’t refund us when they wouldn’t let us into the movie.
Overall a horrible experience.
Never going back to the theater or the mall.

Okay so I’m usually an Alamo loyalist, but over the weekend, I visited AMC Barton Creek to see a movie that wasn’t playing there. And I was definitely pleasantly surprised!
You can either purchase your tickets ahead of time online, or at the box office. Adult tickets for a non-​mantinee show were about $ 10. The girl working the box office was friendly and efficient.
There’s a bar in the lobby! Cool! I didn’t know AMC theaters had bars. I didn’t get a drink, but my boyfriend was pleased with the beer selections — there were a lot of options. The bartender was funny and friendly.
They’ve got your typical movie theater concession stand — popcorn, candy, hot dogs and the like. They have calorie counts for each item on the menu, which I was impressed with. FWIW, the best/​worst dollar to calorie ratio appeared to be «Extra Cheese,» which clocked in at 700+ calories for $ 1.49. No mention was made of what the extra cheese should be served with.
The theater was clean, and pleasantly uncrowded. No sticky floors, yay! We saw a 7:15pm Sunday showing of PG movie that’s been out for a few weeks, and there were maybe 5 – 6 other people in the theater.

The smallest and most uncomfortable seats I’ve ever sat in at a movie theater. I don’t know how else you can rate a movie theater.
They keep the theater clean, unlike Tinseltown.

WOW! I LOVE ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE! Oh… a gift card to AMC. It’s not the Alamo that I fell in love with, circa April 7, 2013, but it’s free with this card; it can’t be that bad, right?
WRONG!
Enter stale popcorn, musty scent, sticky floors, damp chairs, chairs covered in different colored bits of trash, dust, and other granulated things. Did I mention sticky arm rests that were covered in more than one day’s worth of sweet and salty residue? I didn’t have to actually taste the armrest to know how gross it was. Needless to say, I was totally uncomfortable sitting in my narrow, little seat (and I only weigh 120 lbs!) for the duration of the movie. I have never been so happy to leave a theater.
I sold the remainder of my gift card. I won’t be going back there. Ew.

Meh. It’s a grungy movie theater. No better or worse than any other.
You might think being in the rich part of town they would upgrade it and make it a little more upscale.
