An i-deal Optical

I received a moolala certificate for an I-​deal optical for the holidays, one that included an eye exam and $ 100 off a pair of frames. I’m so glad my mom came across this deal, I couldn’t be happier! The staff is super friendly and helpful, and I’m absolutely in love with my new frames. They have now moved to newer, more convenient location off of e. 11^th st, I highly recommend these guys!

I came to An i-​deal Optical to replace glasses that were broken. My expectations were far exceeded! Bradley preformed the exam proficiently and I chose a frame. When it was time to pick up my glasses, Bradley called to tell me there was a problem with the frame fit due to the shape of one of my lenses. I came in a picked a new frame with their assistance and the guys let me take home the iffy ones. Within a day, the lens threatened to pop-​out just as predicted.
The atmosphere here is professional and friendly. The fact that they would not let me keep a sub-​par product (even though nothing appeared wrong with them at the time) earned even more respect. From the first drive home in my new prescription, I was amazed! This prescription has improved my vision to a remarkable degree. I highly recommend this place!
By the way, my new frames are perfect, and I continue to enjoy better than ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision.

I do have to say up front, this was not my appointment. My boyfriend needed new glasses badly. I sent him this deal when I saw it and man did it pay off. I went to the appointment with him to assist in frame selection. The guys were great!
We all laughed the whole time. They let me come back and watch the exam and even humored me with letting me try to read the chart. They took a lot of time in really making sure that he had the right prescription which actually changed for the better form his previous exam elsewhere.
I have already recommended them to other friends.

I purchased a deal from Morgan’s Deals for An Ideal Optical recently. The level of professionalism there is truly horrible. It took me days to schedule an appointment for an eye exam. I must have called fifteen times at different times of the day over a couple days. I also left messages. Bradley called me back at the end of the second day just before they closed to let me know that he was the only one working and that he didn’t answer the phone while he is busy. We scheduled a time for that next day for me to come in for the exam. When I got there, I did the exam and went to look at their frame selection. The selection they had for the style of frames that I wear, not brand, was limited to around ten frames, whereas someplace like Pearl has hundreds in my style. These go on my face, so I wanted something I liked, but they didn’t have any I cared for. I asked them if they could order them if I found a pair I liked. They told me they could. I went to Pearl and found a pair I liked that day and called them to let them know what I had selected and asked if they could give me a price. They told me that they would call me the next day and let me know. This was Wednesday. They never called Thursday, even though I called them five or six times that day. They know because they have caller ID. I called again on Friday and they told me they would call me back in two hours. They never called me back, nor did they call me on Saturday. I called Monday and they told me they would call me back in fifteen minutes. They never called me back. On Tuesday, Bradley told me that he was sorry they didn’t call me back and that he would call me back yet again to let me know. He did call back and told me that the cost of the frames would be $ 175. They would be $ 75 after the discount from the deal. I called back on Wednesday and told them I wouldn’t be needing the anti-​reflective coating. They then told me that the price of the frames would now be $ 200 because they had the frames overnighted. I told them I didn’t ask for them overnighted and they said that they would eat that charge and it was back down to $ 175. Then Bradley said that because I wasn’t getting the coating it would be $ 200 because he ended up having to order them from another supplier and they were more expensive. I said fine, that I would pay the extra $ 25. He said they should be in the next day. Well, the next day, I called and called and nobody answered. I had found that normal by now. I decided to drive to the office. There was a note on the door stating that the office was closed for a family emergency. They didn’t bother to put that on their answering machine, so I drove up there (It takes me 45 minutes to get there) to find this out. The next day, Thursday, is the same story. I drove up there again, same sign. Friday, I call at 12:20 in the afternoon. They tell me Bradley has gone to pick up my glasses (funny because they told me they were overnighted) and will be back in about an hour, but to expect a call at about 3:00 and the glasses would be ready. That time comes and goes and I drive up and go into the office at about 4:20. They show me that they have the frames, but nothing has been done to them, no lenses. They didn’t even give me a courtesy call to let me know that they wouldn’t be ready that day, and they hadn’t planned on it either. I told them that it was the third time I had been told that I would receive a call and it wasn’t done. It’s not that it was done late, it was that it wasn’t done at all and that they were not a very professional company. That’s when Bradley comes out of the back room and tells me he was sick the last two days, never mind that there are two other people that work there and that the sign on the door for the last two days said «family emergency», and he says that I’m making a nuisance and that he just was going to cancel the deal. Keep in mind that it has now been two weeks from the beginning of this fiasco. There is that old saying, you get what you pay for. That was never truer in this instance.
Update — The response from the owner is typical of the argumentative approach that this company has towards it’s customers. The price is not what I had a problem with, it was the service, even though the price changed after it took a week to get a price. The owner states that I had unreasonable expectations. The expectations were set by the company and its employees. Dates and times that things would be done were set by the company. They told me when they would return my calls and when my glasses would be ready. Nothing was ever done when THEY said it would be done. Also, if you’re going to do something you don’t normally do, you accepted that when you agreed to it. Don’t then complain to your customer about it. Also, it was a Polo frame, not a RayBan frame. I wish them well as well, but unless they change their customer service, all they will have is wishes… and no customers.

Good place to go for a vision check and glasses. I used a deal I bought on Urban Dealight. The person who does the vision check is not a doctor; he’s like a PA for optometrists. He made this very clear, which I appreciated. The exam was good and I’m happy with the price for which I purchased my glasses. I will have to go to another place to get new contacts, which is kind of a bummer, but I have needed new glasses for years. By the way, if you do wear contacts, make sure to bring your own case and solution to put your contacts in while having the glasses exam done. We improvised with some plastic cups and solution he happened to have, but it would have been helpful to know.

I paid a visit to I-​deal Optical to get a new pair of glasses, and I’m glad I did. Although it’s more of a trek for me than, say, going to an optometrist downtown, their prices are waaay low. Lower than I’ve ever see at an optometrist — plus, they have a pretty robust selection of frames. The space is small, but it wasn’t a problem; it was set up in a way that you still felt like you had enough room.
The optician was considerate and accommodating. He took his time with me, which I find is often rare at these types of places. So I appreciated that.
This is my first new pair of glasses since sophomore year of high school (seriously. They were the best glasses ever, and if I hadn’t lost them somewhere, I would still be wearing them) — so, if my timeline for replacing these remains constant, it will be about a decade until I go back. ;) But, when I do, I’ll likely be lookin’ up the number for i-​deal optical.
