History
Established in 2009.
Founded in 1982 by Love Nance as Apple Annies, this business began serving breakfast and lunch in a cafeteria style setting in the basement of the Bank One (now Chase) building on 6th and Lavaca. After 26 years, Apple Annies lost its lease.
Love Nance and her partner Sherry Jameson were faced with some tough decisions. Friends since childhood, the two women chose to think big and expand to a full scale restaurant concept.
Famous for fresh salads and pastas, meatloaf and other specialty items, Apple Annies was now taking its entire operation including catering and wholesale baking to a new location and bigger environment.
Supported by Nance’s years of traveling Europe and living in Spain as a student, the women visited numerous eateries in New York, New Orleans and other famous cities to help finalize their concept. The result was Annies Café and Bar, an award winning, European-style Bistro with a unique Zinc Bar and casual atmosphere.

Business Owner
Love Nance founded Apple Annies in 1982 in the basement of the Bank One (now Chase) building on 6th and Lavaca. Fast forward 26 years to when Apple Annies lost its lease, Love and her partner, Sherry Jameson, decided swing for the fences and open a full scale restaurant.
Nance studied in Spain and traveled extensively around Europe during her college years, giving her an appreciation for the European Bistro concept and a well-trained palate. Jameson came on board in the late 90’s to help manage and grow the business.
With a reputation for excellent fresh food preparation, friendly downtown business catering and a line of wholesale baked goods, the two women found their dream location in a historic building on Congress Avenue and opened for business as Annies Café and Bar in the summer of 2009.
Despite a slumping economy and restaurant industry, Annies Café and Bar has already garnered numerous awards and become an established fixture in the downtown area.
