Aqua Pro Pools

Not certain where to begin but to make a long story short, DO NOT hire this company to do any pool work. I had Ron’s company re-​plaster my pool about a year ago and they did such a poor job, it had to be re-​done again this year. Ron was more than willing to redo the work once I sent him pictures and emailed with him, but I have had nothing but headaches over the last 6 months. I first emailed Ron in May of this year about the pool plaster looking poor. It took a number of weeks and me harassing before his foreman finally looked at the pool. The foreman said it needed to be acid washed and not re-​plastered. I reluctantly agreed, but it took a few months of more harassing before they actually came out to start the work. They drained the pool one day and acid washed the next day. Luckily, I was home when they completed the wash and started filling up the pool. I was not happy. I tried to call Ron then emailed that I thought the acid wash didn’t help and the pool looked just as bad as before they started. They stopped filling up the pool and left and the pool sat there for at least a week before the foreman finally came out and said he thought it looked good. I responded that I did not think it looked good at all and I wanted it re-​plastered, and I was surprised when Ron agreed, without hesitation. A few weeks passed and the water in the pool was beginning to turn green, I once again sent a number of emails asking when they would begin plastering. A few threats later, they began the plastering. The work, however, is still not done. The re-​plaster looks a lot better but the spa jets were put in incorrectly and that issue still has not been resolved. As usual, Ron keeps telling me tomorrow, this week or next, but still no one has shown up. This situation has occurred over several months (May to November). I had to threaten to get a lawyer at one point and even said I would post bad reviews on Unilocal and Angie’s List. Those were the only times I got a reaction. Ron also committed to paying the water bill but I still have not seen a check. Ron has been willing to do the work and graciously promised to pay my water bill but there seems to be a lack of communication between him and his foreman, as well as a propensity to push things out until absolutely necessary and be deceptive regarding when things will be done. I will be happy to give more details if you want to contact me. I have saved all email correspondences as a means of support in case I need to file a claim in small claims court.

This was my first time having a pool refinished. I called around eight companies but decided to go with Ron and crew due to his customer service and timeliness when replying to emails. He was really good at explaining my options in terms of materials and options. He kept me well informed throughout the entire process and kept to his timelines. The end product looks wonderful and plan to use Ron again to enhance my rock feature and add a hot tub.

He never showed up so I can’t review his work but I arranged my day around meeting with him and killed an hour waiting. Not only did he not call, he did not return my call.

Unfortunately I have to give Aqua Pro Pools a 1 star rating as on the surface they seemed to do a decent job. I hired Ron for a completely new pool rebuild and pool cabana from scratch. After 15 months of the job being completed I am still dealing with permits at City of Austin that Ron never got cleared. This was 100% part of his job as the contracter and he told me before I paid him the final bill that everything had passed inspection which was an outright lie, and I believed him. Had I not had to contact the city myself about another matter I would never have known that our electrical inspection had failed! On top of that, the final overall inspection just never happened so these are now outstanding with the city which puts huge roadblocks for me trying to get other things done for our house as nothing can be done until these are cleared. I have tried for 6 months to get Ron rectify this as I cannot get these inspections done, the contractor has to book them. Ron doesn’t have his own people, he subcontracts out all the work along the way so when there is a problem and they’ve already been paid, in this case with the electrician, you will never get them to come back. I would beware using Aqua Pro Pools. They may charge slightly less than other companies to win the business but it’s NOT worth this headache. On a sidenote the saltwater system he installed a little over a year ago is already failing. Go with one of the more major pool companies in Austin who probably know what they are doing when it comes to quality and permitting with the city.

We had a problem with our spa and called Aqua Pro along with a couple of other companies. Aqua Pro responded in a very timely manner and provided a quote to address the work. I am still waiting for the other companies to submit their quotes. Aqua Pro completed the work in short order and we are happy with the result. Incidentally, the guys who did the work were very attentive to their jobs and nice along with that!!! Would be happy to use them again!!!

I contacted 8 pool companies and got 5 quotes for a fairly straighforward rework of the back rock wall of my pool and a retiling of the entire pool. Ron won the deal due to his professionalism and reasonable pricing. His crew worked very, very hard. They showed every day on time and left only after a full days work. We had a few problems that had to be reworked, but Ron took full responsibility for the problems and completed the rework within the original budget. I would definitley recommend that you at least interview Ron if you have a remodel job. He is likely to win your business.

Ron Davis and his team are wonderful! My 8 year old gunite inground pool needed resurfacing plus I wanted some additional tile work done. They arrived, did a thorough job of preparing the old surface, came back the next day and finished the new surface, finished up the tile work and it is all beautiful and well done. His workmen were very professional. They cleaned up the job site so well you’d never know they had been here. Can’t wait for warmer water to swim! :) Feb. 14, 2013.
