Josh and Crew built a 14′ extension tp my garage.
Job was complete with soffits and roof extension. within 3 wks. perfect for Drill Press
and Table Saw.

I can’t believe someone like Josh or Arcadia construction is even in business. The way he worked was that he was very responsive until he got paid. Once he got paid, that’s it, he just took off on a vacation. He totally lied about his vacation plans. We would have never hired any contractor who is going on a 3 week vacation out of the 4 weeks they had to fix the house & make it livable for us.
Once Josh got paid, he was in Europe and said he had no e-​mail or cell & so was unavailable & assigned a sub-​contractor to work on our house. This new guy after a few days started asking for more money by saying, Josh did not pay him enough & his guys will leave the job site if we don’t pay them more. He also mentioned how Josh owes him money from another job & until he pays him for the old one & he can’t finish the new one. Basically it just sounded like a big mess of unfinished jobs, just like us & they have put more people like us in jeopardy.
Things went missing — we had a different contractor work on a small part of the house for a few days & he informed us how his $ 500 air compressor went missing. We had things as simple as paint brushes that went missing, my personal tool box, measuring tape, shrub cutting pliers & the list goes on.
Since we were not living in the house during the remodel, we could only go in the evening to check the progress & on multiple occasions, we would find beer cans just lying around the house. I mean if you are doing something wrong, at least hide it & don’t get caught red handed. (Pictures attached). We asked them to stop doing these kinds of things and of course they never did.
They couldn’t even finish the simplest things on time. I clearly remember we bought our ceiling fans during some 4^th of July sale at Home Depot (we even have the receipt). Month & a half later the fans were still not installed, we had to hire a different electrician to install them finally. It took him less than 3 hours to do something these guys couldn’t do in a month and a half.
The bathroom fan was installed but stopped working on the 3^rd day, the same electrician who came to install the ceiling fans checked on it & surprised to find out that the bathroom was just sitting in the hole & was not even screwed in the ceiling or attached to any ventilation.
There are more items than I can list.
Long story, we are going to the court & this is the worst experience of my life.

We paid Josh $ 12,600 and he immediately left the country for Croatia.
In addition to the $ 12,600 we paid, we suffered thousands of dollars of property damages as a result of Josh and his company — we lost more money than we spent on our wedding, more money that we’ve ever spent on a car and more than the balance on our student loans.
Additionally, we moved into a house that was deemed unsafe by a Certified Inspector.
All the appliances in our kitchen were run on a single line– had we turned several of them on at the same time, it is likely the line would have overheated and our house would have caught fire. Additionally, nothing was grounded and they had gone so far as to actually cut the grounding wires out from the boxes. The electrical Arcadia did was so bad the City of Austin provided a special 48 hour permit reprieve so we could make our house safe and livable. If you have had electrical done by Arcadia, please, for your own safety, call an inspector and have it examined.
Additionally, Josh’s crew drank beer at our house and we found children there «helping» on several occasions (one was a toddler running around the house freely with exposed wires and wet hands from paint and water– everyone is lucky she didn’t suffer a major injury or even a fatality).
Josh demoed the toilet in our bathroom and left an opening from the City of Austin sewer directly into our house for two months. As a result, we have been dealing with a huge rat infestation for the past month. It was quite the home warming gift.
This is just the start. We will be writing a longer review and including documentation for a Certified Inspector/​Expert Witness, pictures and videos in the near future.
How did Josh get these good reviews if this is how he operates?
While I can’t say for sure, my guess is by intimidating unhappy clients. His contract states that he can put a lien on your house (after gathering documentation and contacting multiple lawyers, we found this scenario is actually unlikely, but still scary). When we discussed our displeasure with Josh he said, almost verbatim, «This contract is rock solid — my lawyer’s batting 3 and 0 in my favor in court.»

Josh has proven to be unreliable.
We asked for a quote for a substantial amount of work to be done to the house. First… he sent us a text at 10:58 pm canceling our meeting scheduled for the next morning (which was unprofessional and it did wake us up). Nevertheless we did reschedule the meeting… telling him we were staying in town specifically to meet him. He did show up and we told him what we were interested in. What bothered us was that it didn’t look like he took any notes!
He told us he would send us a bid (that was on July 31). When we still didn’t receive the bid I texted him on August 26 to see what happened. He claimed to have emailed it to us. Well… it wasn’t in my inbox nor in my Spam folder. We had no trouble getting bids from other contractors via email. He then texted me that he would check again. Since then… radio silence! Nothing!
I have no idea how he received such great reviews since our experience with him was anything but great!

Arcadia Construction is the best! The owner, Josh, has been exceptional to work with. He is detail oriented, up front, honest, hardworking, and manages his teams well. Communication with Josh has been a dream; he always answers my calls and texts and gets back to me quickly when I have questions. I would recommend him for your home projects or just as a resource to find the right person for any job. Call him! You won’t be disappointed!

I called after normal business hours for most people and Josh answered. I happen to be out of the current service area due to how busy he is, which is understandable –I live in Manor which is quite a distance from Arcadia-​. Josh did take the time to go over pricing with me so I could get a fair shake from other businesses which I thought was quite kind of him and the main reason I’m giving him 5 stars. I will keep him in mind if we move closer in the future.

This was a first remodel for me and I really enjoyed working with Josh on my small condo bathroom remodel. He came immediately for a quote and had a very thorough and professional contract procedure. He and his team showed up absolutely on time every day of the project. He was very thoughtful of the project time frame (which was great because I had guests coming). His team was very pleasant; his tile installer, Tony, was a charm to work with! Josh also very kindly allowed me to borrow his tools ahead of time so that I could complete demolition myself to save money.
After reading about other contractors, I think it is notable that Arcadia finished this project completely and without shortcuts. For example, Josh came back long after the project was supposed to be wrapped up to repair some faulty shower plumbing that had to be reordered from England. Also, he worked with me honestly and affordably on a water leak that ended up coming from my neighbors’.
Perhaps the most important thing was how easy it was to reach Josh. He answered my calls or texted me back immediately every time I contacted him. I doubt anyone could have been more responsive.
A bonus was that Josh has some really nice suppliers to work with if you don’t want to spend a fortune at the fancy tile shops or get soulless supplies from the big box stores. I’m thrilled with the tile and granite I was able to access through his partners.
A couple things to note when working with Arcadia…
Be very detailed when planning and overseeing your project. There was a mis-​measurement early on and some confusion about pricing with one of the suppliers (countertops specifically) that increased the price of the project unexpectedly. Clean up and finishing also required a fair amount of oversight. Everything got worked out but I learned to be involved at every step to avoid snafus. Josh moves fast, which is super efficient but can require pause to make sure all the little details are addressed.
One other thing to note was that you will need to be comfortable picking up supplies. Mine wasn’t the sort of project where Arcadia handled everything and I came back in a week to a new, sparkling bathroom. I picked up supplies almost every day, including additional store runs when supplies ran out. I liked this about Arcadia and I learned a lot from being involved. I’m sure this kept the cost lower as well. But if you don’t dig hardware stores be sure to talk to Josh about including supply pickup in your contract.
All and all, Josh was enthusiastic, very easy to reach, and completed a quality, beautiful project from start to finish. I would work with him again.

Josh did a custom piece of furniture for me that I have been completely impressed by. Even though it was a small job, I felt like a valued client and there was constant communication from start to finish. The quote was very fair and the result was a high quality piece that turned out to be more than I had asked for.
Amidst many options, Arcadia really stands out. And the other 5 star reviews are not the only ones I have seen or heard of– I constantly hear praise about Arcadia. Highly recommend!

I hired Josh to replace about 15 light fixtures, paint, patch, and do some drywall. Josh was great to work with, he put in a clear bid, no hidden fees, no BS, just straight honest labor and materials. He was quick, on time, and had awesome communication.
The project required renting scaffolding, moving a few electrical boxes, and a flexible schedule… all which he managed perfectly.
He kept the home and work area clean and tidy… I greatly appreciated this.
