I found Michal after seeking out an affordable, reputable GRE prep course. Having initially been intimated with studying the material on my own, it was prudent that I found someone capable of breaking down the material into pieces that I could easily digest. Michal did just that and a whole lot more.
His intellect coupled with his genuine care for his student’s success is what sets Michal apart. Not only does Michal maintain relevant instruction (he frequently takes the GRE himself) but he also crafted his own «book» to aid in the course — a huge help! To top it off, he will meet with you outside of class to discuss applications, essays, or any questions you may have. Truly, I could not have asked for a better, more individualized prep course. Plus there was totes magotes some cold daddy brew-​diggles (beers) in the mini fridge.

I took the GRE test prep course over the summer at ATX test prep. Initially I was somewhat apprehensive about investing 800 nonrefundable dollars, despite the fact that’s already like 200 – 400 dollars cheaper than Kaplan or Princeton services and it is unquestionably, and by far, the most cost-​effective Austin option for GRE prep. My worries proved unfounded. If you miss a class (which I did), you can make it up (which I did). ATX test prep also will read and critique your Statements of Purpose and essays. They will sit down with you for one-​on-​one sessions to go over whatever content is most challenging for you. If I’m not mistaken, I think they said in class that they will provide individualized support for up to 6 months after your GRE prep course has concluded, a service I’m preeeetty sure their competing corporate counterparts do not provide. It’s good to keep in mind, too, that when you’re supporting ATX test prep, you are supporting a local business as opposed to corporate entities.
I have no regrets and only gratitude resultant from taking the course. I learned a LOT: about the GRE itself (history of, structure of), test taking strategies, study strategies, grad school application process, and unspoken academic codes of conduct (ie. always waive your right to your letters of recommendations). We covered each section of the test thoroughly. My math scores went up 11 percentile points, which was a big deal for me because I’m so weak in math. Overall, I gained a lot of confidence and improved my test-​taking skills.
Because taking the GRE at a Prometric testing facility is akin to voluntarily entering a temporary carceral state (no joke, I’ve taught in jails and the similarities are uncanny), I had several questions about the experience, which were answered in full. The classroom environment was supportive and any and all questions were welcomed. Sometimes Michal brought pizza for everyone for dinner and we had free refrigerated bottled waters at every class. Eating during class was totally fine/​not stigmatized. In sum, a great learning environment with awesome teachers, highly recommended! Thank you Michal and Daniel!

I took the GRE one time after taking their course and used that exam score to apply to graduate schools for a Master’s in Business Administration. I was very excited to receive my acceptance letter a week after applying to the Business Graduate school of Texas State University in San Marcos, TX that I had been accepted to start my graduate education in the Spring of 2015!

In the spring of 2011 I had enrolled in a Group GRE course taught by ATX Test Prep instructor Michal Goldstein – I am so glad I did, it has been one of the wisest decisions of my academic career.
Before I began the course I was a little anxious that the classroom environment might be stuffy or intimidating. Happily I found the opposite to be true; instructor Goldstein has an easy, affable manner and strives to cultivate an environment where all the students feel equally engaged and comfortable asking questions.
The coursework is thoughtfully structured and highly informative through-​out. Instruction included a thorough overview of the type of questions that one may expect to encounter on the GRE for each of the three distinct sections – analytic writing, verbal and quantitative. Lectures were peppered with useful tips and different stratagems for tackling GRE questions were formally outlined and demonstrated during class. I found the classroom exercises in which we would actively practice the knowledge sets we’d be required to know especially helpful.
Beyond the mechanics of the taking the test itself, we were also given with a lot of practical advisement concerning matters related to the GRE. This included the grad school application process, GRE scoring, registering for the test, the testing center environment, ways to prepare oneself, and what to expect on the test day itself.
Personally, I saw an increase of over 200 points in my GRE scores as a direct result of taking this course. Without a doubt, the preparation I received under instructor Goldstein’s tutelage critically improved my performance on the exam. Anyone who is interested in preparing for the GRE and/​or improving their test scores would immensely benefit from these test prep services as well.
