Came here a few weeks ago with 3×24 35 mm rolls and I needed them done on a tight schedule. Matt was so kind and patient and actually got the rolls developed and printed impossibly quick.
I came again a couple weeks later with two rolls, one black and white and one color negative. Matt was also very helpful. The results are the great and are finished in a timely manner. Austin Camera and Imaging also offers a matte option for prints.
Great place to be and they have a couch where you can hang out. The parking garage is also free and convenient.
It’s got a nice «dorm room» feel to it; a little messy but cosy. I am in love with this place.

I went in not know what I needed and Matt and the rest of the guys there were soo helpful and hooked me up with what I need and at a price that worked for me. No upsell, just helped me find the perfect used camera for my needs. I am now a customer for life!

Love this spot for camera gear. The owner is knowledgable and very helpful. It’s a popular spot, so come with a little time and expect to get amazing service like each person in the store.
I am excited to get some prints done there from a trip, as well.

I was visiting Austin this past week, and my friend and I came here to develop film we had shot out in the Marfa desert. Boy were we pleasantly surprised when we came to pick up our prints.
First I have to mention that they did a rush order for us because we had a flight to catch the next day. They were able to get us our prints and scans within two hours of the store opening. I was nervous about the roll of film I dropped off knowing full well that I had not adjusted my analog camera settings properly when we were out shooting in the hot, bright desert.
When we got the prints back, I was blown away that the pictures actually turned out great.
Wanted to thank you guys again for accommodating, will be recommending you to friends in Austin.

Austin Camera & Imaging team are extremely helpful. Matt Cohen is very knowledgeable of camera equipment and lenses. They’re always friendly and professional when I call their store. All the team members are amazingly patient every time I come in and I have questions on imaging services.
They did an amazing job on copying antique photos and their turn around time is very efficient. Also, a team member assisted me with creating a photo book. He sat next to me to ensure I got the best design layout. He was patient even though it was near end of business hours.
I came back this week and needed images enlarged to 11×13 size. Aaron requested that I bring the CD from the original scanning order. He wanted to make sure that I did not spend any extra money. I appreciate his efforts to prevent me from paying extra for this print job.
I will refer my family and friends to this local business. I will use them for future business and personal imaging services.

I was so excited to find this place. It was an awesome substitute to the bigger, very pretentious «other» camera store in town. I visited this shop 5 times in a 2 month period (which is saying a lot since the drive from the Cedar Park area is horrendous)! I was hooked. I bought some used lenses for super cheap, scored a repair on an old Polaroid, and used their print services (which were awesome). No one that helped me judged my silly questions and they all seemed genuinely happy to help me out. Sounds like an awesome love story, so why the 2 stars?
I ordered an adapter so I could use some old Pentax lenses on my Nikon D750. The owner ordered it for me on a Monday and said it should be in that Thursday. Awesome. I added their phone number to my phone so I would make sure to know when they called. I hadn’t heard anything a week later and was in the area for a haircut, so I called and talked to this lovely young lady. She checked and said it still wasn’t there. She said «You know, you don’t have to call us, we will call you when it gets here». Oh ok, cool! Fast forward 3 weeks. I am shooting a wedding in 2 days and was planning on using one of the Pentax lenses. I know she said they’d call me, but I was in the area and called again. I got the owner. He went to check on my order and told me «Yeah, it came in. We called you a few times and you never answered and never came so we sold it.» _​Ummm. What. I told him I had ordered it so I could use it for a wedding and really needed it. I could have ordered from B&H or gone to the «other» store but I wanted to give this little local place some love. He (the owner) just shrugged it off and didn’t even offer to order me another one. He did absolutely nothing to help remedy the situation. I told him about how I saved their number in my phone and know for a fact they never called. Again, nothing.
I loved this place and wanted to keep loving it but crappy customer service, especially from the owner, is not cool. I get that it wasn’t a huge sale, but those little things are what make people come in for the big things. I was going to buy a Contax they had on display but will look elsewhere now.

I’m a professional photographer, and after reading the Unilocal reviews, I came here to get a high quality print in a custom size. Matt did a wonderful job with my print. I was so impressed by the amount of effort he put into getting the print just right — he printed it a total of three times until it met his personal satisfaction. The price was completely reasonable, and was much lower than I expected to pay. I’m extremely pleased with the customer service, as well as the print itself.
I got my print within two hours, and got to look at a lot of cool stuff in their shop. I will be back to check out the wide variety of Polaroid film, and if I ever need to trade/​buy a used lens, this will be my first stop!

I have been doing some business here lately and I have been really impressed. I bought a camera, lens and also had some prints done and have had no problems with any of the three.
I was really impressed when I ordered some prints online and an hour later I get a phone call saying they are ready for pick up. The quality of the images are superb and the price to print is cheaper than the other camera store.
Their customer service is fantastic. I was treated very courteous and professional and they answered my questions very quickly.

Amazing group of people! I was visiting Austin this last week not only did they help me out with purchasing some 35 mm film but I was also in a tight pinch and needed to print a couple documents which they immediately took the time to help me with. It was extremely kind and generous of them. They also have a great selection of manual and digital cameras + accessories for sale. Everyone was full of smiles I wish I lived in Austin so I could also go there for all my camera needs!

I had to wrestle over this review a bit. This is one of those times I wish Unilocal let you issue half star increments to get the rating exactly where I want it. First it’s really nice to have an alternative to the other camera shop in town. I feel like the other shop wants to court a clientèle that I don’t exactly fit into. For good or bad, you get the vibe of an actual camera shop when you walk into Austin Camera. The owner is personable and will actually chat with you a bit about film. Some of the clerks. er… not so much with the enthusiasm sometimes. It can be a real record store clerk sort of vibe, but it’s certainly better than fake peppy. Their developing is done in house and if it isn’t slide film, quite fast. I’m only a hobbyist (a mediocre one at best) so they certainly meet my needs. I wish they would branch out into a darkroom space, but their store is tiny as it is. The only real criticism I can give is that they can be frighteningly disorganized and I dislike paying up front instead of when I pick up. Still though, the flaws give the business some character.

Nice shop. The owner (I presume) was fantastic but I didn’t get to interact much with him. I need to come in another day when a different clerk is working. The guy just had zero enthusiasm about showing me how to work the product I was considering, despite his clearly being knowledgeable. He just watched me struggle with the camera and gave short, tired, «blah» responses to my inquiries. I dunno dude. Please get a grip on your depression or whatever it is before taking on customer service roles at a small local business.

Awesome customer service! These guys are wonderful and a great alternative to Precision Camera. I’ve been camera hunting and out of all the research and shops I visited, these guys did the best job explaining the differences between the equipment. I walked out of there with a new understanding of how lenses work and a new favorite camera shop.

This is sort of a weird review because I ended up not doing business with this shop, and there’s no way one can comprehensively rate a business they ended up walking away from.
I first stumbled upon this shop by accident. Came in, took a look around, was impressed that they actually had a decent selection of film cameras and collectibles. Asked some questions and went on my way thinking what a neat new place for Austin to have.
What was disappointing was when I returned I came in with some old cameras I wanted to offer in part trade for a camera I had my eyes on. In truth what I brought was worth more than the camera I wanted, but knowing a store needs to make a profit I came expecting what I brought would only cover part of the cost.
The man at the counter looked over the cameras, then clicked around on his computer (no doubt checking prices online) then made me an offer. $ 15 for the cameras. Ouch. Much less than 50% of their value which is what I was expecting. I said ok, because I still wanted to buy the camera they had. So he rung me up then gave me the total. And double ouch. He wasn’t offering me $ 15 per camera. He was offering me $ 15 for all three cameras I brought in. And keep in mind this wasn’t just me unloading some old cameras, but this was as a part trade — they’d be making a profit immediately on the sale, there was no risk of them not getting their money back.
One of the cameras I brought in was an Exa with a Steinheil Culmigon lens. Look at the sale prices on ebay, then consider the $ 15 I was offered. They could have done a 500% markup on these items, and anybody who bought them would still have gotten a steal and the shop would have made an amazing profit.
I decided to keep my cameras. And I left with a nagging bad feeling that maybe the camera I had planned to buy there had been taken off of some little old lady who didn’t know any better for chump change (probably unlikely, but the possibility for it happening felt oddly off putting).
As for the rest of the business — I cannot comment, everybody else seems pleased. I was happy to see a shop here with a selection of older cameras, but I will not be trading or buying any used equipment here, and my review only concerns that particular aspect of the shop and nothing else.

This is the only place I go to process my film and get anything for my camera.
I’m very new to photography, and they’re always willing to teach me how to use my camera. Great, helpful staff.

Great new camera store for Austin! I’ve been here a number of times and Matt the owner is so nice to work with, he is very knowledgeable and super friendly!
I haven’t had a chance to use their processing services yet but while I’ve been there purchasing used gear and other camera accessories I’ve heard a number of people picking up their prints and it sounds like they are all extremely happy.
They have a great selection of used cameras and lenses and a bunch of vintage stuff too. I would highly recommend checking these guys out… you’ll be glad you did.

I ended up ordering a Pentax camera in black-​red-​white combination, but there were so many other ones to choose from! All in all a fantastic store for pros and dilettantes alike. Thanks guys!!!

Absolutely a win for Austin! Not only are the prices better than on EBAY… they can print or process anything, they have a Fuji master on staff to make sure that their state-​of-​the-​art equipment is always up to code, and I did a side by side test of processing from Walgreens, CVS, Precision, Holland Photo and Austin Camera… walgreens had a problem with their chem levels and my prints came out maroon, CVS did alright but somehow found a way to highlight every piece of grain in my ISO 400 film, no worries from Holland or Precision but it was pricey and took almost a week to get it back… Austin Camera gave me AMAZING prints, in an hour and for less than anyone else in town. Legit. Digital is up to par with anyone, they have a Fuji printer and it kicks ass, they can even make super huge prints (and they were pretty cheap)
Also you can trade in your old gear for the newest stuff, and they will buy your gently used stuff or do consignments for less than the going rate.
On top of that, they are they only photography gallery in town… no one else shows off local Austin photographers, but these guys do AND they give out free beer and wine once a month in a big shindig to showcase the great local talent in Austin. Wish I was a better photographer… but I’ll take the free beer!
The owner was so cool with me, I am going on a trip to Belize and interested in a camera I can take underwater, he had a really cool classic Nikonos that didn’t exactly fit my needs, but also two different water-​rated cameras, and didn’t try and sell me the most expensive, I walked out with a waterproof panasonic for $ 150 and felt good that I passed on the $ 300 Sony. That’s the kind of down-​to-​earth guys you deal with at Austin Camera. Precision would have tried to sell me a Leica with an underwater housing!

I finally got around to coming here the other day, and I’m impressed!
First impression was good as I was greeted at the door by the owners adorable pooch. The store has a simple clean aesthetic that I truly appreciate. I was particularly drawn to their collection of vintage Polaroid cameras. So cool! I thought that Polaroid film was extinct, but nope! They carry it.
It had been ages since I had developed any photos. I went into the store with no particular agenda, but once there I was inspired to print some photos from my iPhone. The owner helped me through the process, and now I have some good old-​fashioned prints that will make great little gifts for Christmas!
I got great customer service here, and I will definitely be back!
