Austin Diagnostic Clinic – Circle C

Very disappointing experience. I have been going to this clinic (at Circle C location) for a about two years now and am now done with them. First off, the staff (at the front desk) are very rude and disrespectful.

Their accounting department is also messed up. They had already charged my credit card two times (for the same bill) and sent my account to the collection agency. I received letters from collection agency even though the bill was paid off (twice) and they showed no records in their books. They finally refunded my money after spending several hours haggling with them on the phone.

Been waiting an hour to see the physician — I think I’ll have to switch provider. Last time I was asked to reschedule. As someone that has a day job, I find this a big hassle.

My son has been treated here since he was newborn. It took us a few visits to find a physician who was a good personality fit, but once we did, everything was great. We see Dr. Lopez and absolutely love her. It is definitely a matter of personal preference as I’ve spoken to other mamas who prefer other physicians at ADC.
The wait times are usually not too bad and we’ve never had trouble getting an appointment. Having an urgent care onsite is great as my little one got sick and was able to be seen within a day. ADC is also extremely responsive with questions via phone which I appreciate as a new mom. The front desk and some of the nurses are not super friendly, but I can deal with that. I’ve noticed they are constantly improving their processes, which is nice.

The staff is indifferent and rude. I walked in for urgent care and was told that the doctors were at lunch and that they were booked for the 3 hours… They had no one in the waiting room. Even though in pain, a nurse refused to do a triage. I went to another place…

Let me start off by saying that Dr. DeWitte is great. He is a very caring, informative, efficient doctor. Couldn’t ask for a better physician to guide patients through the labyrinths of modern healthcare. Only thing is — he’s busy and overbooked frequently, so follow up on everything to be sure it gets done. 4 stars. His assistants are nice and efficient. 5 stars. His chief RN always seems tired, bored and indifferent, but she’s probably been in the nursing field for quite some time and burnout is typical in that field unless you really care about people and really love your career and job. 2 ½ stars.
On the other hand, it’s the support staff that can make the whole process excruciating. They are at best indifferent, obstructionist and uninterested. I see a lot of other folks have posted the same perceptions on Unilocal,so it sure as heck isn’t just me. The thing is, I’ve found a solution to the problem, and it may work for others. If the people on the phone or front desk are rude, be rude back. If they are indifferent, don’t get emotional, just be pushy. If they are obstructionist, be obnoxiously efficient at navigating around them. It works for me.
Remember, you are not only the patient, you are also the customer. You are not only a number, you are important. You are not only a body in line, you are a priority. Demand better.
Sure, it stinks that you’d have to behave this way to get the quality healthcare you are already paying way too much for. And who wants to have to be combative every time just to get some paperwork faxed, an email sent, an appointment booked, a referral. But’s it’s your health and your life, and they should be things worth fighting for. And Dr. DeWitte is great, so stick up for yourself and demand action and results. And maybe, just maybe, they’ll get some less obfuscatory hires in place on the front lines. Then ADC would be the best.

RUDE office staff that make you feel like you’re being cross examined when you point out their billing mistakes! So, you overcharge my insurance company and balance bill me for preventive services which not only violates my trust in your competence, but also violates the Affordable Care Act. Immunization vaccines for children from birth to age 18 are covered 100% by the insurance company without a copayment or coinsurance.
At his last well check, I asked my son’s pediatrician, who has followed him medically since birth, to take into consideration (1) results from an evaluation performed by the school district highlighting speech and behavioral issues (2) an assessment from his preschool showing concerns about his progress achieving milestones and (3) my own observations as a parent. Instead of taking this information into account, along with her perceptions as his physician, she decided to pass the buck onto a specialist who takes months to get into for an appointment. Having three reliable sources (AISD, Preschool & Parent) providing information about a preschooler’s issues should be enough evidence to not delay therapy and services that a child could benefit from before starting kindergarten.
My child’s pediatrician could have removed the last hurdle and assisted with his enrollment into a preschool program that provides speech and occupational therapy. These are issues my preschooler will grow out of if they are addressed early enough in the right environment. He does not need a major diagnosis by a neurologist. Why deny him the opportunity to allow the school district to help with special education?!? We only have a small window of time to help kids get caught up before they start school. These are services that we all pay for with our tax dollars and we should be allowed to access them when there is a reasonable need presented.
ADC, you are supposed to improve the lives of those you serve not make them more complicated. Erroneous charges, double billing, and obstruction of care make me wonder why I am bringing my child to your uncompassionate clinic. More and more I am realizing that this place only provides conveyor belt healthcare and they do not genuinely care about you as a patient. If they really cared about the total wellbeing of their pediatric patients, they would have a advanced practice nurse who specializes in neurology on staff to expedite the services that lots of kids need to be prepared for the structured school environment.

I can’t tell you how pleased I am with my first experience at ADC. My daughter was sick on a Sunday and Monday was a holiday. I tried to think where we could go that wasn’t an emergency facility. When I called ADC, my call was handled quickly and competently. I called at 2:00, was able to get an appointment at 2:30, and we were seen immediately. In fact, we were at the Target on Ben White at 3:13 getting medication. All of this efficient service, on a Sunday, for just the price of my insurance co-​pay. That’s a deal you can’t beat!

I’ve been reading some of these negative reviews which kind of surprises me. I’ve had nothing but exceptional care and have never waited more than a few minutes to see Dr. DeWitt. Staff have always been friendly and helpful.

Save yourself the hassle and DO NOT go here. Just as everyone has already said the stuff is RUDE they have so much attitude. They are not very helpful nor will they go the extra mile in their customers service. It’s very unfortunate for the Doctors there, their awesome the staff ruins EVERYTHING!

Do not go here. The ENTIRE staff is rude, and do not seem to care about any of their patients. I was really excited the first couple times I went, but after that I realized that they are all just full of **it. Not only will you wait 30 – 45 minutes to see your doctor after you have made an appt, but then you will only get 5 minutes of the doctor’s time. And then if you have questions or issues and call to speak with a nurse, they will speak to you like you are just wasting their time. Also, they have «easy care» which is basically like an urgent care clinic, except you still make an appointment, but they won’t see for an on-​going condition even though the records are right there. I have never seen such a lack of care for patients ever.

Guess we are going to go somewhere else because of the same thing everyone has experienced… the staff is plain RUDE. We have been multiple times and it is always the same experience. My 2-​yr old even remembers the name of the nurse, Dorothy, and when she says hello to her the nurse barely acknowledges she’s been spoken to. My last experience this week reminded me how an inmate would be asked to get on scale and get their weight and height.
Dr Garza is ok but definitely not worth the frustration. Having sick kids is stressful enough and being treated like cattle makes nothing easier. Have people work for you that want to be there and that take the extra step to put a smile on their face. This is pediatrics-​you should exceed people’s expectations.

Do not go here if you are wanting quality care for your children and a group that cares about the welfare of your children. Dr. Garza herself is good however, the staff is beyond rude and this includes supervisors. My 3 month old sons ear was punctured with an otoscope during an exam from an NP at easy care! He was bleeding from his ear canal and surface abrasions. She was unapologetic and blamed him. Unbelievable, it is her responsibility as the health care provider to ensure a safe assessment which includes restraining his arms while inserting a sharp object into his tiny ear canal. We left the clinic worse off when we showed up. He as inconsolable for hours. This was on a Friday, I called first thing Monday to report this to a supervisor and see if I could get him into Dr Garza to check that his eardrum was intact. I was told I would get a call back immediately and that never happened. I had to call back twice to get someone and the staff was rude when I asked for a call back. When I finally talked with a supervisor it was underwhelming. I let her know I got in with another pedi to check his ear, they have never called to see if he was ok or follow up on my complaint. This is unacceptable!
We have moved to Grow Pediatrics and are extremely happy.

Today was my initial appointment with this clinic and Dr. David Dewitte.
The staff was very friendly when I arrived and my wait was super quick.
Dr. Dewitte was very easy to talk too about my medical history and made me feel very comfortable.
I am very happy that I have tried this office out!

I am new to the area and scheduled an annual physical to establish a new pcp. I met with dr Dewitt, the visit was quick, informative, and my wait time was minimal. I was in and out within an hr and received my needed vaccines. Staff was friendly and courteous. I love the location as it is about 2 minutes from where we live. We will be visiting again once our son arrives to establish care with a pediatrician — I am hoping their pediatric department is as efficient and helpful was the adult component has been. I will update when the time comes!

The ADC pediatrician clinic is amazing! I wish my person PCP experience (not with ADC) was nearly as seamless as my kids’ has been! Doctors are great, nurses are kind, the system is efficient. I have rarely had to wait on hold when I’ve called the clinic, and I call a lot. The process of asking the nurse questions is very easy — I call, immediately reach a live person who takes notes for the nurse, and the nurse gives me a call-​back within an hour or so.

Dr Honles was my doctor in another practice and moved here. I have never liked any interaction I have had with any ADC, and this one is no exception. Dr. Honles is wonderful, but the staff here, ALL the staff are the rudest people I have ever encountered in a doctors office. I am still waiting here while I write this. I have never had to wait for so long for a doctor in my life. An hour wait is just unacceptable. I’m still amazed at the lack of compassion in this office.
If you don’t have to come here DON’T!

I tried to make an appointment with a rheumatologist here. The doctor I requested was not available, and they suggested another doctor who was available the same week. This doctor was new to the location and taking new patients. I said yes, but asked hypothetically if I want to change doctors in the future, e.g. for a second opinion, can I do so?
I was told that the doctors at this clinic agreed among themselves not to switch patients. A fair number of rheumatologists operate out of this clinic, so in effect if you sign up with any of their doctors you are effectively ruling out a good number of other doctors for any second opinion you might wish to request.
I found this approach odd to say the least, and a big disservice to the patient. Note that my review is not based on the doctors’ expertise, which may be very good, but rather on a business practice which I find very questionable from the patient point of view.

5 stars for Dr. Cross, 1 star for ADC’s corporate blood suckers! Had to update my review b/​c I went to a new primary care physician b/​c he is board certified in sleep medicine and I was having serious sleep issues.
Anyway, I lowered previous my rating from 3 stars to 2 stars b/​c it cost me only $ 97 to see my new PCP for a one hour non rushed new patient appointment. I do not have insurance so this is a big deal. Now looking back, ADC charged me $ 179 for the exact same thing.
I still consider Dr. Cross a very good PCP, but she was pretty booked up and like I said my new doctor also deals with sleep issues. The updated low score is b/​c of the outrageous price ADC charges uninsured patients. The price gouging is something that is set by the bean counters not Dr. Cross.

I’ve taken my toddler daughter to Austin Diagnostic Clinic twice: once for a routine appointment and once for a check up when she was sick.
My first/​routine appointment was less than stellar. I waited for quite a while and felt like the staff was all around pretty distant, not warm to my daughter or me. Toddlers have learned that doctors’ offices mean shots, so some effort to make her feel extra safe and/​or excited to be there would have been appreciated. A warm tone of voice, maybe? I definitely didn’t feel anything close to that.
Also, we waited for a while in the room as well. And they wouldn’t schedule her next routine appointment, since it was too far out. This kind of annoyed me, since it meant adding an extra thing to remember to do in 6 months.
The second/​sick check-​up appointment was quick and pleasant and much warmer to my daughter. They figured out the issue quickly, prescribed antibiotics, and sent us merrily on our way.
I wasn’t wild about antibiotics, but the doc seemed pretty sure that my daughters dual ear infections were pretty serious. My daughter hadn’t been wiping or touching her ears that I had noticed. But I took the antibiotics, and my daughter’s fever is definitely gone, and she does seem happier over all. It worked. I hope it just doesn’t come right back and lead to tubes, more anti-​biotics, etc. Somehow kids managed to not ALL get meningitis before antibiotics.
Also, when I called on the weekend about the fever that led to the second appointment, the nurse was very helpful (great instructions for what do to if certain things happened, etc) and reassuring and warm. We lined up an appointment for the next morning easily.
Regardless, I have mixed feelings about ADC’s pediatric group. I will continue to go there until I have a more fully formed opinion. Maybe the first appointment was a fluke. Everyone has a bad day occasionally. Maybe *I* had the bad day and put it on them. But I feel like a pediatrician’s office should be friendly and somewhat inviting.
