Austin Dog Walking

When my wife goes away on business trips and I’m at my 9-​to-​5, our two young German Shephards still need to be walked and played with. We’ve used Austin Dog Walking numerous times over the past year and have been very happy with the quality of service and level of professionalism. Tim is easy going, friendly and most importantly– loves dogs! It’s great to know someone like him is taking care of our boys when we can’t. He’s always on top of the business end of things: the keys, locking the door the right way, dealing with money, etc. Very pro and a breeze to schedule with. Completely trustworthy and responsible. Tim has made my first experience with a puppy so much easier! When I decided to adopt a puppy, I knew I would need someone to come by midday to walk and play with him. I come home every weekday to a report on how their walk went and Tim is quick to point out anything that might be of concern. I have never used a service before where another person had a key to my home (like a dog walker or maid service), and I admit I was nervous about the idea at first. However, Tim is the kind of guy that makes you feel 100% comfortable about it, and I know my home and puppy are in good hands when I am not around. And my puppy loves him!

Almost two years ago, we found a stray puppy and brought him straight to our beloved Vets at Allandale Vet Clinic. While we were there we decided we would need a dog walker. Our older dog was crate-​trained and comfortable at home for longer stretches, but a puppy changes things. Tim’s card was in the waiting room and we gave him a call.
As soon as we met Tim, we knew it would work out well. Our older dog is very timid and skittish. She doesn’t love people. When Tim walked in, he let her come to him and didn’t force her into meeting. So many people want to touch and snuggle small dogs, but that day Tim showed us he knows exactly what each dog needs. Our other puppy was happy to follow him around the house and the yard as we showed him around.
Since January of 2011, Tim has been our reliable dog walker. He comes and gives our pups a midday walk usually 3 or 4 days a week while we’re at work. This break during the day allows us to come home to calm, exercised dogs. He’s also very flexible with our ever-​changing schedule. We usually let him know a week in advance when we need him. There have been a few last minute changes over the past 18 months and he’s been completely flexible with our schedule. For the first 6 months he was with us, he even fed the puppy his mid-​day meal. I should also add that our dogs are not super mellow, laid back, loose-​leash walkers. Both would happily drag you down the street if you’d let them, and Tim keeps coming back!
Thanks to our crazy Texas weather, Tim has literally walked our dogs in rain, snow, and 100 degree weather. When we had rolling brownouts last winter, we lost power a few times in the morning and I was worried about the pups if the heater didn’t come back on. I left Tim a note asking him to let me know if everything was okay when he got there. Right on schedule I received a text that the power was on and there were no problems. Tim brings our family peace of mind and we’re so lucky to have him care for our two dogs.

Breaking your leg when you have two very high energy pups is never a good thing. Thank goodness for Austin dog walking. I had originally planned to try Austin dog walking while our normal sitter was out of town. Then I fell and broke my leg. I needed more than someone to just give my dogs a 5 minute potty break. Enter Tim, the dog walker.
Tim is responsible, reliable, and great with our dogs. He was flexible with scheduling, even coming later in the evening one weekend to take my dogs out when I was still on crutches. I trust him in our house when we are not there. The best thing is that he actually walks our dogs for the entire 30 or 60 minutes. My pups are tired and happy when they come home.
We’ve continued using Austin dog walking for over a year now, most recently when I was too pregnant to walk my dogs. It’s nice to know we have someone to trust with our dogs when we can’t walk them ourselves.
