This is the place the supplies me with the fuel I need to get through the day. My drug of choice is always an Vietnamese iced coffee with an extra shot. It’s pretty much the only think that can get me from 0 to 1000 in a matter of minutes. The staff is great as well; Right when i pull up they already know what I want. They also serve taco deli tacos in the morning but the taco guy is ALWAYS late so if you want breakfast go after 7:30am

It made my morning to find an Austin Java right off my bus stop near my new job. I’m sitting outside drinking delicious coffee and eating a TacoDeli taco before I head in for my first day. I’ve heard great things about Austin Java and all of the great things are holding true!!!

I am not a big coffee drinker, but I was hungry this morning on my way to work, so I decided to give this little drive thru a try. It’s a little strange having a coffee drive thru combined with a pharmacy, but it was better than I expected. I had a cranberry scone, and it was really good. I don’t think Austin Java makes their own, but whoever they buy them from, I approve. Only one flavor of scone at a time, but it is a small location. I also ordered a vanilla latte. The coffee came out quickly and the strength and foam on top were impressive; the only downside is I believe they forgot to put my vanilla syrup in. Quick, friendly service, especially for a drive thru. They gave me a loyalty card, which makes me want to come back too(although I wish it was good for something other than coffee too, like maybe tea or baked goods). I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. There was a small outdoor patio with a few tables, but I didn’t check out the set up inside. So convenient if you are in this part of town and need something on the run.

Went in and asked for a coffee with hazelnut. «We only have sugar free hazelnut right now. Is that ok?». No thanks I’ll just take the plain coffee then. «Oh I’m sorry we’re out of regular coffee right now»

One of the worst customer service offenders are places that don’t stick to their hours like Austin Java today. Went to get breakfast at 8:02 sign says they’re open at eight. I sat there for about five minutes and nothing.

I stop here because of how convenient it is on my commute, but like some of the other reviewers have said, they are typically slow and frequently out of key menu items. They recently removed half of their menu, but still seem to have trouble keeping fresh baked goods in stock. however, the iced coffee is consistently good, and the staff is friendly. As I bite into this stale cinnamon roll, I am reminded of how much better this place could be if it was anything like their other locations. Get it together guys!

Great location, it’s actually inside the building and shares a space with the pharmacy. While you are having a prescription filled or, perusing vitamins & supplements you can order a green tea, latte or one of the gazillion concoctions that Austin Java offers up to drink. If your needing more then liquid they do offer breakfast tacos as well as the usual assortment of coffee shop baked goods. The drinks are good but service may be a little slow if everyone else has the same idea you do. They also have reading material and a couple tables to sit at if you have a little time to spare.

As someone new to Austin and looking for a nice coffee place to do work, I chose Austin Java because it was a local place near by– not a starbucks or other big chain. However, this branch of Austin Java is located in the same building(same room) as a pharmacy, and I can see grabbing a cup of coffee while waiting for a prescription, but it is not the place to come do work. The coffee itself is good but it’s not what I’m looking for. There are 3 tables and 3 seats at the«bar», and then a few tables outside. Perks are– the employees are nice and attentive and the coffee is fairly good(I got an iced coffee and added my own sugar/creamer). It’s good for what it is, but I don’t think I’ll be returning. :( My search for a close coffee place to work continues…

Austin Java on Victory Drive! I love your iced latte! I used to live near this location but now I have to drive across town to get the perfect iced latte! No other Austin Java makes it like you!!!
I’ve never been inside this place, but the drive through is conveniently located near my son’s daycare. Every few months, I give in to the temptation of something so close and on my way to work and every time, I regret it. The coffee is frequently so watery that it’s impossible to drink. For my most recent visit, this morning, I didn’t even bother and ordered iced tea instead. I also ordered a cranberry walnut muffin, but instead I got… um…I’m not sure. It had rosemary in it. I only managed a few bites and then threw the rest away. The most disturbing part: when I pulled up, I handed the guy my credit card and he disappeared for awhile(they are always SLOW). After awhile, he came back and told me my total and then waited expectantly. I told him I had already given him my credit card and he looked around the counter confused, and then held up SOMEOTHERPERSON’S CARD and asked if it was mine! After a bit more looking around, he found my card where he had put it down and I got it back only a little bit sticky. I swear to god, today was the last time. If that means the South Lamar Starbucks from now on, then so be it. Update: someone from Austin Java contacted me about my review and offered me a $ 10 gift certificate to give this place a second chance. I tried, I really did. I went inside this time, with my son. His chocolate milk tasted like it had gone bad, my coffee was a watery mess, and I had to remind the guy behind the counter to give us our pastries because he was too busy chatting up a pharmacy employee. Sorry. I wanted to be able to come back here with a better report, but it just didn’t happen. I have not been back since.

Espresso: surprisingly good, esp. given the bizarre pharmacy setting Wi-fi: pretty fast Outlets: poor — come fully charged; only a couple near the couches in the back; none around the desks or stools Seating: a few couples tables, some stools, several couches and couch chairs Café: clean, but a bit weird to sit in the middle of a pharmacy; at least most of the items surrounding you are natural remedies ;-) Baristi: very good, very friendly Notes: this is a franchise; good selection of food items

Food’s awesome(!!), and the drive through is super convenient for Mamas with kids in the car. Great array of healthy and UN-healthy options alike. My only complaint is that their drive-through speaker is positioned so that they pick up lots of noise from 290/71/Ben White, and you have to end up yelling your order, which is quite annoying.

When they opened, I was thrilled. I am a fan of Austin Java on Lamar and Barton Springs and in the airport. This place is two blocks from my house. I went there at least six times: two or three times the coffee drinks turned out fine, but the other visits were varying levels of bad. The drive-thru has a terrible intercom, and it leads to the baristas not being able to communicate well with the customers. Like many other coffee places, this Austin Java has a stamp card. You can purchase six drinks and get one free. Or at least that’s what I thought when I read the card that said, «Buy 6 coffee drinks and get the 7th one free.» The last two times we went there, we were told they could only give us one stamp per visit(we had two drinks). OK. That’s a little petty, but it’s terrible customer service. The last time we went there, April 10, 2010, our order came out wrong(iced coffee instead of iced latte). Although they made us the lattes, we were treated like liars. Like somehow we had changed our minds in that twenty or thirty feet of space, and we had not said«latte.» The $ 9 of latte was weak and watery. Barely drinkable. Had we not been getting the coffee for our drive to Houston, I would have turned around and gone inside to ask for something better. I tipped, as I always do, but I wished I hadn’t when I started my drink. Very disappointing. The few times before, my husband and I separately got wrong orders or rude service. Now I just go the few blocks more to Central Market if I really need a latte quickly, but I mostly just try to wait to go to a real coffee shop. I hope for the sake of this Austin Java that things have changed since April.

This place is AWFUL! I mean they are open when I go to work so I have to pull in. I have to. It’s all their fault. Srsly. Okay, so I’m a chai addict. Austin Java is hands-down the best I’ve had including that other big name place. I’m not a fan of their scones but the hummus and pita chips are a handy, tasty treat. Please do not order the smoothies. I don’t want them to run out when I’m there. I’m a Strawberrylicious girl with the occasional foray into Blueberry land. But really, stay away from my smoothies. If you follow them on Twitter, you can catch some great daily specials too. I had one bad incident with the chai. Wrote a note and got a fast response(within 48 hours and it was on a weekend). I got a replacement chai and an explanation. Now that’s good customer service. I’m hooked. OH! Make sure you pull up the end of the drive-up menu closest to the building or they can’t hear you.

If you’re just going for coffee, great. If you are going for food, good luck. Both times I drove through they were out of almost everything on the menu. No salads, no sodas, no lemonaid and only like 2 sandwiches to choose from. Not the same Austin Java menu as anywhere else, more like a simple sandwich and salad menu, if they aren’t out.

I was on my way to lunch somewhere else when I saw the Now Open signs for an Austin Java in the most peculiar place; so, I pulled in out of curiosity. An Austin Java with a drive through window in a Medical Center? They serve all of their regular coffee drinks with a completely different food menu. Food is limited to sandwiches and salads. I can not speak for the interior as I went through the drive through just to see how that worked for an Austin Java. The young woman who greeted me was super chipper and told me to just pull up to the window to look at their menu and order. She told me they just opened and they did not have the order screen filled out yet with prices. She handed me a lamenated menu with drinks on one side and sandwiches and salads on the other. I ordered the Vietnamese Coffee(dark coffee with sweetened condensed milk over ice) 5 stars yummy! And the ½ Tuna Artichoke Panini(as good as it sounds at only 4.59) Unfortunately, my love for Vietnamese coffee is an indulgence that I can not afford every day at 3.99. With the tip jar that has a «help us pay for college» sign my 8.58 drive through bill came to 10.00 with tip. But, it was worth it and on a «not raining» day I look forward to sitting on their patio — the patio is absolutely beautiful with wrought iron chairs and tables shaded with umbrellas and amazingly beautiful landscaping shrubs and flowers. This location’s patio is the most beautiful of all the other locations and I love it so much if I could dig it up and transport it to my backyard I would — my dream patio/deck.
