I was so happy with my overall experience at Austin ObGyn Associates! Dr. Cohen has been my doctor for a few years now, and I really appreciated the time she would take to talk to me at each annual exam, answer my questions, and make me feel comfortable. When my husband and I found out we were pregnant with our first baby, there was no question that we would continue to see Dr. Cohen throughout our pregnancy! Dr. Cohen and the staff at Austin ObGyn Associates, including Karla!, were so helpful, patient, and welcoming with each and every visit I had at their office during my pregnancy. They were also more than happy to answer all my questions whether while there at the office, or over the phone. Karla is so sweet, and always took the time to find out how I was feeling and let me know what I should expect with each appointment. Dr. Cohen treated me like I was her only patient, and sat down with me at each appointment to explain my progression in my pregnancy, fill me in on what to expect until my next appointment, and patiently answer all of my questions each visit. Dr. Mileur was on call when I went into labor and performed my c-​section, and was also very thorough and patient with me while I was in labor. I felt very comfortable with her and the staff at St. David’s, and we have a beautiful, healthy baby girl thanks to the support from Dr. Cohen, Dr. Mileur, and the Austin ObGyn team! Thank you for making this pregnancy so much easier for us, and for keeping us informed along the way. I will miss my regular visits to your office, but will definitely be back once we’re ready for baby number two! :)

I’m surprised this place has been getting rave reviews… I didn’t even make it through the door. My first appointment was cancelled after I arrived and waited for 45 min due to a patient delivering her baby. Totally fine, I get it. Went there a second time the next week only to wait in the waiting room for an hour. They wanted me to pay for my visit up front — luckily I refused. After an hour of waiting I asked them to cancel my appointment. I requested that they give me my medical records… Guess what, another $ 25 charge. For my own records! This place wants your money and isn’t very expedient or timely with their appointments. Come here only if you have half a day to wait around.

Last week I scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Kaplan for a endometrial biopsy. Never having seen the man, I was a little more than nervous. He put me at ease and the procedure was a breeze, due to his bedside manner and expertise.

For starters the girl at the front desk who answered my phone calls and helped me figure out my insurance situation was so nice! This was not the case for other places I called, so it was a big deal to me! I even arrived 20 minutes late and everyone was very sweet about it and it wasn’t an issue at all. Dr. Mileur was awesome! Very nice and professional. I felt very comfortable with her. She answered all my questions and was just overall a great doctor. I’m so glad I found a new gyno after just moving here! Yay! :)

I love Dr. Mileur– so attentive and gives great care! It is just really frustrating every time I call the office. I always sit on hold for 10 – 20 minutes.

Horrible… I waited a whole hour for Dr Cohen just to be seen for only 10 minutes. I had so many questions about my pregnancy but she was in such a hurry and could nearly stay still long enough cor me to get any out. I would not recommend her.

I only saw one doctor while I was a patient here, and I thought she had a great bedside manner. I feel like this is a great place for mothers-​to-​be who are having normal, healthy pregnancies. However, I feel like it’s not the best choice for women with high-​risk pregnancies or a history of problems. The first red flag for me should have been that I was never given a nurse line phone number. If you want to talk to a nurse or doctor you have to go through the operator, which at best is a pain, and at worst is a long wait. When you are miscarrying or suffering some other terrifying issue, that wait is the worst. Most OBGYNs provide established patients with a number to call with questions for nurses/​doctors. I didn’t enjoy having to share my personal health issues with an operator in addition to my doctor/​nurse.
My other issue was that, when I did call with questions or issues, many times I was made to feel like an irritation. I understand that doctors and nurses see a variety of pregnancy complications, and are less prone to worry than a patient. However, I feel like service and attention are what I pay for as a patient. I feel like it is the staff’s job to recognize and respond to me and my worries. I feel like I should be treated with respect no matter how frequently have to answer a question for patients, or how simple they believe a matter to be. There were times when I was brushed off, dismissed, or treated rudely for asking a question or sharing an anxiety. On one such occasion I called the nurse and explained that I felt something was wrong. She would not allow me to come into the office to check it out (even though I am paying, willing to wait for a slot all day, and willing to see a provider who is not mine). I went on to miscarry later that day. On an earlier occasion I ended up at the ER for an issue and was specifically told by the ER doctor to follow up with my OBGYN for diagnosis and treatment. When I called for follow-​up I practically had to beg the nurse for information on my condition. She was surprised that the ER doctor hadn’t done my OBGYN’s job for her, and was reticent at having to spend time informing me about what was going on. I understand that these issues were specific to me and my experience. I really feel like most women will have a great experience here. But If you think you’re going to need a little extra care, you may want to look elsewhere. I have now found an OBGYN who is patient with my needs and nurses who don’t make me feel bad about calling. I now know that I was not unreasonable in my expectations, and the quality of care I expect is available in Austin.

Let me say that I am very torn writing this review, I have been a patient of Dr. Winn’s for about 10 years. I always loved her down to earth manner and how at ease she made me feel. For years I only saw her for my annual exams and birth control. A couple of years ago I got pregnant with our first child, and of course we went to Dr. Winn. I felt at ease, but slightly lost. It was our first child, but it seemed like we were expected to know a lot of things that we were never told. We really needed more guidance down the pregnancy path than we were given. I had high blood pressure (130 to 145 over 80 to 90) during the entire pregnancy, and it seemed like the doctor was a bit laid back about the whole thing. In hind site, I think perhaps I should have been on bed-​rest the last week or two of pregnancy (I have 100% disability pay & would have gladly stayed home from work!!). She never mentioned the word pre-​eclampsia until the day we delivered, but that’s exactly what was going on. I was getting headaches and actually felt a little «starry eyed» at times, but was never told to look out for these, as they could mean a big spike in blood pressure. I didn’t even know to mention them as a symptom, I just thought I was tired, stressed, etc. Maybe she was trying not to alarm me, but I really felt she should have given me some «warning signs» to look out for. We had scheduled an induction a week after my due date, and upon arriving at the hospital, my blood pressure was in the ²⁰⁰⁄₁₀₀ range — severe pre-​eclampsia at this point. Everything in my body was swelling so bad that my nose was completely stopped up — I couldn’t breathe out of my nose at all. I was in labor for 15 hours before a c-​section was ordered. Dr. Winn kept telling my husband, «if we don’t have a baby by X time, we’ll do a c-​section. Getting the baby out is the only way to fix pre-​eclampsia.» However, X time kept getting pushed further and further back. I checked in that morning at 5am, and the c-​section was finally done at around 9pm. At about 7pm, Dr, Winn had to leave for the evening, and Dr. Mingea actually performed the c-​section. Afterwards, my nurse told me that the doctor had to really work to get the baby out. I ended up with a huge puffy bruise on my lower abdoman the size of a softball. I developed an inscisional herna from the c-​section, and 6 months later, it had to be surgically repaired. I’m not saying that I think that the hernia was Dr. Mingea’s fault at all — I think that was just a product of a difficult c-​section delivery. My blood pressure refused to go down after delivery and after a couple of days of 200/100’s, and no results from the magnesium they had me on, the doctor prescribed me a blood pressure pill that I ended up having to take for two weeks. This worked like a charm, but all told I was in the hospital for four days.
As a side note, we also had multiple issues with the nurses at St. David’s — tripping over and ripping out my IV lines, not once but twice, asking my in-​shock husband to then hold the IV line so that they could stop the bleeding, putting in an IV twice with no gloves on, etc. The issues with the nurses are of course not Dr. Winn’s fault, but everything combined just added up to a negative experience for us.

This place is great! After an unhappy experience at another doctor, I recently became a patient at Austin ObGyn Associates. I saw Dr. Caroline Eng Cohen for an annual exam, and she was fantastic! She was caring, friendly, patient, and took time answering my questions. The physical portion of the exam was fast, and she’s very gentle. The receptionist and nurse were both polite and professional.

I was extremely unhappy with my prenatal care at the University of Texas ObGyn department so I went to see Dr. Cohen at Austin ObGyn Associates. Unfortunately, she told me that I had a miscarriage and this is extremely personal but she deserves a good review because she has helped me so much. Not only was she really understanding as I was bawling my eyes out but she was very easy to get a hold of and would ALWAYS call me back within 5 minutes of me leaving a message unlike my other doctor. I think it’s really important for anyone to get a hold of their doctor especially when they’re pregnant and I will definitely be going to her again once my husband and I are ready to start trying.

AustinObGyn is an awesome place to establish care! I had a very positive experience there from My Obstetrical care with Dr. Winn to my Gyn care with Dr. Eng Cohen. I was very nervous since my last exam was in 2007 and didnt know what to expect. I scheduled an Annual exam with Dr. Cohen who had a very flexible schedule and got me in very quickly. The front office staff, Assistants and phlebotomist were very polite and organized. I Informed Dr. Cohen that I was nervous and she immediately made me feel comfortable. She went over my history and answered all my questions. I didnt feel rushed and was in and out in a reasonable time with all my issues addressed. She was friendly, attentive and caring. I will continue to see her for my future exams and recommend her to all who are seeking an ObGyn doctor.

Dr. Guzman Winn, is a great doctor!!!
I just moved to the Austin area, and was not looking forward to establishing myself as a patient with an OB. I became so comfortable and loved my OB back home, that I was strongly considering a 7 hour drive, with a baby in the back just to have my yearly exam done. Being that I am new to the area, I didn’t really have someone who could recommend their OB to me. I decided to do my own research and found great reviews on Dr. Winn. I took a chance and made my firs appointment with her. Around that same time I found out I was pregnant, so the pressure to find an OB I felt comfortable was on. Unfortunately, my fist visit didn’t bring good news. Dr. Winn informed me that I was having a miscarriage. To make matters even more complicated I was scheduled to leave on vacation to the Dominican Republic with my hubby three days from my initial OB visit. Dr. Winn explained that a miscarriage can come at any time, and being in a different country may not be the best place to have this happen naturally. She thou roughly explained what my options were in a very compassionate matter. This was my fist miscarriage, and I was very sad, and scared.
I chose to take a medicated approach to educe a miscarriage, for fear of having complication with a natural miscarriage in another country. Dr. Winn also schedule me for a DNC the day before my departure in case the mediated approcach didn’t work. Andrea her nurse and Dr. Winn called me a couple times the next day to see how I was feeling. This was something that brought great comfort, especially at a time when I needed it most.
After my miscarriage, I called the office to notify them as to my miscarriage and was told to come in. Dr. Winn was not working that day, but she still made it in to perform an ultrasound on me to confirm the miscarriage. Once it was confirmed, she gave me medication to take with me in case I had any additional bleeding, this was to avoid me having to seek any medical care while away.
She truly went above and beyond, I couldn’t’ have been more blessed!

A visit to the gyn office is stressful enough, but now I’m just plain mad. It takes a lot to make me write a review that completely disses a place, but this one just got it.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Winn’s for 4 or 5 years now. I’ve been very happy with her as a doctor, but I broke up with her and her office today after rolling in on time for a 10:15 appointment… and waiting for 45 minutes. At 11:00, I was still in the lobby, waiting to go into an exam room. I told the office staff that I have a job and an appointment with a client that I needed to be leaving their office for by 11:30. When they told me that they couldn’t guarantee that I would be seen by 11:30 and that the next available appointment to reschedule me for was TWO months out, I told them to refund my copay and left. It should be reasonable to schedule a 10:15 doc appt and expect to be able to make a 12:15 client appointment, but apparently not at this place.
The sad part is that this isn’t the first time I’ve gotten up and left after an extended wait. Last time was about 2 years ago; I waited 90 minutes between the lobby and exam room with NO notification that there was going to be an extended delay. I’m pretty patient, if you’ll pardon the pun; I get that sometimes emergencies happen and need to be seen before me, but my time is valuable too: just let me know what’s going on and I’m a much more understanding person. They apparently saw no need to let me know how long I’d be waiting or to even apologize for the delay.

I can’t say enough about this wonderful group of women, from the receptionist and assistants to the doctors and phlebotomist. They are all friendly, attentive and actually care.
Can you believe that Dr. Eng remembers things about my personal life that I told her over a year ago? Dr. Winn also still remembers things about me and keep in mind I visit their office once a year and that’s it!
I’d give them 10 stars if I could! If you are looking for a rating on their actual service I would still give them just as many stars. They are efficient, sensitive, careful and professional.
They have a lifetime patient with me.

Dr. Melissa Guzman Winn is an AWESOME doctor! She listens to my concerns/​questions, and offers real solutions and great advice. She is SOOOOO upbeat, positive and very comforting. I picked her to deliver my baby and her care leading up to delivery and since (3 yrs) has been amazing. I highly recommend her! She’s the BEST!

I searched high and low for a great OB when I found out I was pregnant last year. I’m extremely picky and really wanted to find someone wonderful to help me through my first pregnancy. Dr. Melissa Guzman Winn is by far the best doctor I’ve ever had. She’s very down to earth and so patient. I had so many worries, questions, fears, etc. and she never made me feel rushed and always let me ask every question I could come up with, making me feel very comfortable and very important to her! She was so amazing when I delivered my baby girl, I don’t think I could have gotten through it without her.
If you are looking for a wonderful OB in Austin, she’s the best! Her staff is great too. She delivers at St. David’s Main and they have a very nice office & plenty of parking. Great central location.

I love my OB, Dr. Melissa Guzman Winn, a private practitioner who delivers at St. David’s Main. She is located around the corner from the hospital & plenty o’ parking available.
I’m a picky, type A person, so I went through a couple OB’s before settling on Dr. Guzman Winn — and I love this ob! She’s knowledgeable even about my high risk pregnancies, openly shares her knowledge, works as a partnership with the mom to be, has a sense of humor and gives individual attention to her patients — unlike the local baby factories. I am comfortable trusting her implicitly, and she’s never judged or second guessed my choices.
And! — She and her (great) staff are bilingual (Spanish & English.)
