You know those things that you’re not supposed to put in the trash? Like styrofoam, electronics, batteries, and hazardous waste. This is where you bring them to dispose of them properly. You can even bring giant cardboard boxes that don’t fit in the home recycling bin. And there’s no fee, cuz we’re probably already paying for it with our taxes. The folks who work there are helpful.
There’s also a shed with leftover stains, paint thinner, and cleaning products for free. The center also reblends discarded paints and offers them for you to take, in your favorite shade of gray, for no charge.

I would give a better rating if I did not have to take sick or vacation time from work in order to use the facility.
Other than that. It’s user friendly.

I’m a king of procrastination. I’ve had a couple of old CRT TVs, some dead microwave ovens, and an old computer in my garage literally for years. I was never sure if they’d be picked up on Heavy Trash days, so I didn’t even try that. But, I found the web site for the Recovery Center, and today I loaded up my pickup with the items mentioned above and headed to the center.
The procedure is, you pull into the clean, modern facility. There are friendly people there to unload it for you. Total time from my house to getting rid of stuff: about 20 minutes.
They also take all those half-​empty cans of paint and stains you’ve been meaning to get rid of. They take care of them properly; so much better than putting them in the trash (which you aren’t supposed to do).
