Big Daddy’s Burgers & Bar

Fits the bill. Parking could be a bit crowded depending on the time as the lot is shared with lots of other businesses, but probably diverse enough to have reasonable capacity.
The menu was awesome, with concoctions of burgers I’ve never seen before, like a burger topped with onions and a fried egg, sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches that include jalapeños and bacon.
Food came lightning fast. Reminds me of the bar/​restaurants you’d find in college.
I liked my cheeseburger and my fried pickles.

Burgers and choice of fries is awesome. I personally think burgers are much better than Hopdoddy. The fries I feel are best in city. Yes there are some with fancy Parmesan or oil infused fries but for plain Jane fries. You can’t beat these.

I ordered a frozen Jack and Coke and the chili burger with curly fries. They also had frozen cherry limeades bit I was way too full to try one. Burger was huge and I could not finish it. The chili had the slightest kick which was good because I like spicy. The bun was the cheesy jalapeño which I also really enjoyed. Overall a good burger. Fries were lightly coated in a batter. They had a bit too much salt but other than that they were good. Total was less than $ 20.
Good food with very large portions and good service.

Found this place off of a food «have to try list», so I was so excited to try this place out. We ordered two burgers… well because it is a burger spot! We ordered a Mac & cheese burger and the hangover burger (a Krispy Kreme bun, fried egg, meat and bacon!). The presentation of both the burgers were pretty decent. I felt the cheese on the macaroni burger could have been melted more so the macaroni could melt into it, but over all the presentation was great. When I went to eat my burger I felt it could use some seasoning to give it some edge. The hangover burger and was made to perfection, says my best friend! Each burger came with fries, and the fries were AMAZING! I ordered sweet potatoes fries and the were perfectly crunchy and so delicious. My best friend ordered the regular fries and loved them as well.
The service was very odd and not there as much as I needed. The waitress we had kept walking to her car or talking to a friend… just seem like she had different priorities than she should. I ran out of water twice and that’s a big no no for me, especially because I love to drink, I also had asked for BBQ sauce for my burger and to dip my fries in and I had to wait until another employee which I believe was the manager gave me some BBQ!
Now on to the service.

One of the few restaurants in Austin where I know I can get great food, drinks and service for a great price. Never disappointed when I go there.

We had the grilled cheese burger, onion rings, and wings. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Service was excellent as well.

This is the best burger I’ve ever eaten! Hatch chilie burger with fried poblano strips, bacon, and queso with a side of curly fries.

I’ve been at this place a few times for business meetings. Their menu has mostly burgers but also a few other things, like salads, chili, and Mac and cheese. The burger I had was pretty good, the sweet potato fries were tasty too. I however prefer healthier options so have been trying the salads. I did not like any of the ones I’ve tried. They all have the same problem, where the plate is full of greens with very few other ingredients. Today I had a spinach salad, which was mostly spinach, half of a tomato, 2 walnuts, one egg and 3 rounds of onion. They were probably out of cherry tomatoes that were supposed to be in there. The worst part was that the spinach was old with many of the greens going bad.
The other thing about this place is the smell, can’t stand it. Bathroom is the nicest room in this restaurant.

My favorite burger joint. It gets insanely crowded if there is any sort of sporting even on, so be aware of that going in. The «bad boy» is the most sensational culinary creation ever. My only gripe is they can NEVER seem to get mine right. All I want is rare, with pickles instead of jalapeños. And I’ve never once not had to send it back. But when it DOES get to me, it’s amazing. So, maybe the lesson is just don’t ask for any changes lol

This place i ordered the Sroom Burger with Cut Fries and fried Pickles when i got my order it was BADD the cut fries was over fried and Dry the fried pickles was over over fried very Salty U just dont send an order out like this

The food is still good, but the service was next to nonexistent.
We waited what seemed 40 minutes between each of the waitress’ stops. We probably would have ordered more drinks if not for that. One member of our group even had to go up and order food at the bar. After we got our checks, I finally had to take those to the bar as well.
Not gonna lie, I still love the food, but I can see why the place was so empty recently.

Good burgers but the bartenders kept kissing their significant others. Not sure if I will go back.

I took my nieces here a couple of days ago and they loved it. The burgers were delicious. Their hangover burger was pretty good too. I only got to get a few bites in before my nieces gobbled it for themselves. I will definitely recommend this place.

Came here on a recommendation for trying to find an amazing burger.
For the food:
I was surprised by the choices on the menu, not just your typical burger joint toppings. The burger is huge! Two fisted, and jaw unhinged worthy. When it was set down in front of me, I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into the first bite. Annnd, it was ok. Could have used a bit more favor. But not the worse burger I’ve had, just disappointing based on its presentation. Now I was with a party of 5, and 4 of us ordered burgers. 2 of those burgers were severely under cooked. I mean completely raw and cold in the middle. Based on that, I have to say their cooks consistency rate is subpar. And they didn’t offer to comp or discount the bad burgers or anything. They took them to the back and reheated the patties. So that was pretty sad.
For the rest:
This place is extremely loud, more so than a typical TGIFridays. Between the people and the TVs, I could barely hear the person sitting right next to me. I ended up with a slight head ache because of the noise level. People were also smoking right outside the main door, so anytime the door opened a cloud of cigarette smoke poured. I wished management had asked the people to move a little farther away from the door.
Over all, I doubt I will come back.

Coming to Austin late night with needing something close by the hotel I stayed at, this place came in the clutch. Also, seeing a burger that has Krispy Kreme donuts as a replacement for buns?! Yeah. Automatic visit. The Hangover burger also had pepper jack cheese, eggs & bacon as well. I had to finish off with using a fork. The fries I didn’t really care for but the burger was worth it.
They have a lot of options that’s not your average whatsoever. Especially dessert, when I saw that had a brownie sundae that’s also topped with a Krispy Kreme donut.

Very nice bar, restaurant right off 183 near burnett road. Excellent burgers, very good wings. I like the wings better than pluckers. Cool bar area to the left when you walk in with good viewing for games. Excellent service and bartenders! Its a bit tight and cramped in bar area and hard to move around, so getting there early on game days is a must. The golden tee is tough to play and the dart boards can be an issue when this is crowded but I love the fact they are there! I would love to see a few other healthier food options on menu, though the salmon was good. Decent beer selections and overall a good value and fun place. Back to those burgers! MMMMMMMM! We will be back soon!

The food was great and the atmosphere was awesome and our easier was wonderful.
The menu has catchy names for the food. We ordered an appetizer of chips and queso and whatever was in the queso was amazing!
My son got frito pie and I ordered a burger. My son couldn’t finish the frito pie because it was so much. I didn’t finish my burger because it was huge and had 2 enchiladas on top of the meat. So delicious!
I did get annoyed when the waiter did seem to pay attention to a group who I figured out were either friends or family of his. He was fantastic before the group arrived but after that his service went downhill.

I’ve only been here once but it was good. Many great burgers to try. fries are tasty and cut thick. service was great. the place was clean. I guess I should go back.

Holiday was our server and rocked! Wings here are way bigger than pluckers! No wait and tons of tv’ s. I’ll be coming back here for sure!!!

My husband and I are professional eaters. We were both off and decided to go give Big Daddy’s a shot.
We were both amazed by the plate presentation as it was very nice! The Burgers were huge but very bland tasting.
I truly doubt that we will be back as we weren’t that impressed with the over all taste.

Headed to Big Daddys on a Tuesday night. It seemed very slow but they had some trivia event happening so that was a little extra entertainment for us even though we weren’t officially in the event it was fun to listen in. We got three burgers, two of us got the chicken fried steak burger and I got the 3AM burger hoping for a spicy kick.
The servers were fast and courteous. The 3AM wasn’t as spicy as I hopes but the chicken fried steak burgers were massive.
Lots of the for sports. Would probably go back on a Sunday for some NFL games.

The burger sizes range from large to fuck me. They have options for their fries. You could visit them forever and get a different burger/​fry combo every time. And, they have some local beers on tap. A (512) IPA will help you in the gullet lubrication department. And you will need it.
Big Daddy’s is home to one of the largest burgers I’ve had in Austin. Marie’s Hatch Green Chile Burger. ½ pound Texas beef patty, topped with Hatch green chiles, hand-​breaded onion and poblano rings, and queso on a jalapeño-​cheese bun. It’s daunting when it comes at you, in all of its thick sliced, fried ring glory, oozing with queso. I’m man enough to admit that I’m not man enough to comfortably finish one of those monsters in one sitting.
There are plenty of options, and I’m sure there is something you’ll like. Whether or not you have the gastrointestinal fortitude to make repeated visits to find your burger is a whole different story. I say go once, and enjoy your unusually large poop a week later.

This is a fun place, it just feels like you’re visiting a friend that happens to have a massive man cave. There are plenty of sports memorabilia on the walls and some cool looking Bacardi loungers in a corner and plenty of tv’s to watch sports. The wait staff was friendly and they checked on us appropriately, not too much or too little, which is nice. We both had cheeseburgers, hers was loaded up and mine was plain (I’m a purist). We both also got fresh cut fries, which had I known how many they put on a plate, I would have tried some other fried option, just for variety. The fresh cut were very good, but too many for me to eat, although I tried. They also have waffle cut and thin cut fries as well as sweet potato fries. We also got the queso and salsa, and it was great. The salsa had a nice fresh flavor with a just a little heat. The queso had hatch green chili’s in it and it was awesome. I liked to dip my fries in there, mmmm. The chips were fresh and thin and crispy, just like I like em. There are so many things on the menu I’d like to try that I will definately be back. There are also about two dozen beers on tap, but I’m saving that for the next trip, after 5 o’clock.

But after seeing FREDDY THE ROACH climb out of the Sugar Holder tonight, I couldn’t stomach staying to eat…
I started to wonder what else is wrong with this restaurant.
Is the kitchen roach infested too.
I should of asked to see their Health Inspection report, but I just wanted to leave quickly. I alerted my server and asked for the manager. I let them know that it looked like Big Daddy’s had fallen on hard times…
He told me they had a new owner which had been there six months. I told him there was no excuse not replacing the torn seating in every booth. And to call the exterminators to come spray for insects. It made a terrible impression.
If the owners cannot present a clean pleasant and inviting restaurant environment…
I CANNOT CONTINUE TO PATRONAGE THEM!

I love big daddy’s. My husband and I have been here numerous times. Two beers, two massive burgers and fries for a decent price. We’ve tried about 6 different burgers and the only flop was the green chile burger. It just tasted like burger… wtf? The big winner is the burger stuffed with pork belly. Holy Cheese Burger, Batman. Messy and delicious.
The service is ok most of the time, sometimes it amazing. Thats the service industry though.
The prize of this place is their steak fries. Let be clear here, i dont like steak fries. They’re too thick so you always get some weirdness in the center or concrete on the outside. Not at Big Daddy’s I have NO CLUE what they do to these steak fries but they are like crack. Salt peppery almost taste like steak (cook them on the grill maybe???). Crispy delish outside with a well cooked inside. My stomach is growling thinking about them.
Side note: If you do order a burger, grab extra napkins BEFORE you eat. You can’t put mac and cheese on a burger with out making a small mess eating it.

Last night’s stellar visit calls for a review update! Maybe it’s just because the bartender (Holiday, I believe) was dope as shit, as was his cool girl bartender w small gauges sidekick and his crazy sister co-​worker… lol But, bar service + game (Houston vs Clippers) + food was on point last night.
Fried pickles are a little too thinly cut for my preference, but they were tasty no doubt. I don’t remember the name of the burger my friend got, but that mf had pork belly added and it was a beast! Perfectly cut, amazing home sliced pickles, greasy in all the right places and amazing sweet potato fries!
I got to sample a few whiskies and ales/​lagers, and get a lesson on each. Loved my time there. Lots of regulars and love from the staff.

Big Daddy’s feels like walking into someone’s man cave. There are flannel patterned booths, movie posters on the walls, games on tv, and plenty of beer. The only difference being that I felt welcomed here as having lady parts usually disqualifies me from hanging out in the real thing.
Our server was laid back, brought us refills and napkins without having to be asked, and got the food out at lightening speed.
We started with their tempura fried pickles which we loved. They are sliced thin, so after being fried they taste more like a potato chip but with a zip of tang from the vinegar. The ranch dressing served with them is the perfect companion. The portion was so large that even starving we couldn’t finish the basket between the two of us.
Speaking of large, the burgers come out on a tray instead of a plate. They serve them open face alongside any kind of fry you want. I mean any; curly, waffle, potato wedges, shoestring, regular, sweet potato too but those are extra as are the onion rings.
I got their classic burger, no cheese with a side of curly fries, and it was pretty good! The only negative thing I would say is that the meat was under-​seasoned for my taste. Everything else is top notch though, including the freshness of their toppings. They also have numerous buns you can pick, including GF. Our server said that they will customize anything to your liking, so don’t be shy here!
My husband got the Git-​Mo Torta burger which is an all beef patty with Swiss cheese, crispy pork belly, honey mustard, and all the regular vegetable fixins. He said it was «alright». They have a lot of crazy concoctions here including a burger topped with Mac and cheese.
It’s the perfect place to catch a game with friends, have an ice cold beer and enjoy a big juicy burger. The inside is nonsmoking but I do think they permit it for the patio tables outside.

While I’ve only been here once, I was super impressed! Not by the atmosphere, as I’d call it a rather non-​descript sports bar «type» environment (not necessarily a bar, as they have a lot more acreage as restaurant), but definitely in the vein of a wing place!
It wasn’t their wings that left the lasting impression, though– though I will say that a member in our party, who loves themselves some wings, said their wings were A+. What I’d go back for, but just haven’t had the chance, was the Bleu Cheese burger, with a blackened patty, and a primo sauce! I had to concoct it special, but they had NO problems making it happen, and it was amazing!
Their menu is so diverse, if you can’t find something to like, you’re really, really doing it wrong. I suggest you take a look for yourself (
). There were so many options, we had a really hard time settling on what we ordered (their cheese fries were great, and I heard good things about their onion rings, too). We really wanted to try their Mac & Cheese Burger, but some things just seem too decadent. That was one of them.
For the price we paid, if this place was closer to us, we’d probably be back all the time. The service was fine, nothing to write home about, and I felt the place was trying to be something it was _​not_​, but their food was definitely worth the five stars. Oh, be sure to ask for a sample, too, if you’re still having trouble deciding on what to get! I don’t know if it’s available on everything, but I do know our server offered when we told him we were new!

I was in North Austin and decided to check out a new burger place.
The waitress was very friendly and helpful, she even brought a sample of the ghost chili sauce for us to try before we got it on a burger. The sauce was very flavorful.
The hubby and I ordered the fried pickles and decided to split the green chili burger. The pickles were very good, but almost too much for us to split. Would definitely be good for a bigger party.
The green chili burger was lacking in flavor and was overall bland. I love green chili’s so I was very disappointed in this burger. The curly fries were good.
