Stop looking for a gunsmith. You just found the only gunsmith you’ll ever need.
I went two other gunsmithing shops in South Austin. I was quoted between $ 150-​$ 200 and 1 – 2 month wait to fit a threaded barrel in my Colt .45 for a suppressor. I was told it would take so long because it was a «specialized kind of altercation.»
I was reluctant to try a place I’d never heard of that was also 35 miles farther north than the first two places I tried, but like hell I’m waiting 2 more months to use my suppressor– I just waited 7 months waiting for the ATF to let me even own the damn thing! I figured the drive was worth the risk.
I walked in and I started to explain to AJ what *exactly* I needed done. I began to explain, and AJ chimed in and literally rattled back to me exactly what I was going to say to him. Didn’t even have to look at my pistol.
Clearly, he’s done this before.
Three days and $ 50 later, they’ve earned themselves a five star review. The pistol is perfect.
I will never use another gunsmith again. Ever.

AJ has now done multiple trigger jobs on my Glocks and M&Ps, he’s cut and threaded my precision rifle barrel, installed muzzle devices on my M1As, all work has been great with quick turnaround.
He does FFL transfers for $ 25, cheapest I’ve seen. Some places charge $ 75 for receiving a mail package and filling out paperwork, it’s ridiculous.
Not to mention he’s a nice guy to deal with overall.

As I expected from other reviews. AJ did my work promptly and for a fair price. Well worth the 25 mile drive. I won’t go anywhere else from now on.

I took in a War Sport upper that needed the muzzle brake pinned and welded. AJ did a killer job and knows not to make it so clean that it couldn’t be inspected to verify that it was legal since the barrel was a 14.7. He cleaned it up just enough to make it look nice but to where you could still see the weld. I highly recommend Blackjack for this service and I’ll be taking in another upper soon for the same service!

I needed a barrel nut tightened on a 300 blackout build I’m doing. I was in and out within 5 minutes and this was even before their «open» hours. AJ was friendly and knowledgeable. Will do business with them again.

Aj is a professional; knows guns. Period. So far — 5 pistols deep-​cleaned, repaired where needed, and test fired. AR-​15 — hand-​guard change, cleaned, adjusted, and test fired.

AJ is honest, professional, and does amazing work. What else can you ask for? I brought in my 12 gauge Winchester and my Model 98 for a cleaning. Not only did he do a fantastic job on them he also had a extra scope that he sold to me for a great price. He mounted and aligned it perfectly.

Went to 2 different shops and 1 gunsmith before visiting blackjack only because they were closer. That was a dumb mistake. The other places wanted me to send my gun back to get it fixed by the manufacture bec they couldn’t determine what was wrong. AJ fixed my gun in one day and for a extremely reasonable price! Best gunsmith in Austin. AJ is super nice and I can tell he treats all his customers with respect.

Working on having my version of a 1903 Griffin and Howe Sporter built. Just picked up the stock and action. Bolt modification is perfect and could not be happier with the new ebony tip on the stock. Added a new butt pad and grip cap. All work is spot-​on and price was very fair. Highly recommended shop!

I stopped in to get some TFO sights installed on my Glock. I was expecting to have to leave it in their hands for a while (days perhaps). In just a quick couple of minutes the job was complete and I was ready to go. Quick friendly service. The price was reasonable. I was completely satisfied. I’ll be back should I need any other gunsmith needs.

I had 2 barrels threaded and one rifle glass bedded by this shop and couldn’t be happier with the service, price and turnaround time on them. I will keep comming back to blackjack.

What a great find! After all of the stories and I reviews I’ve heard about other gunsmiths in town, I was hoping to have a good experience here trying a new place.

I needed some Trij night sights installed on my glock 30s and didn’t have the tools to do it myself so I hopped on Unilocal and settled on Blackjack Gunsmithing because of other great reviews of theirs. The turn around time was less than 24 hours and it only cost me $ 35!
Very happy with the service and wouldn’t hesitate to bring them bigger/​more complicated projects!

Great service and turnaround time.
I needed my the barrel on my AR-​15 cut down, re threaded and crowned. AJ was very helpful in explaining my options and I settled on an 11.5 inches. Turnaround time was about 4 business days. AJ is very approachable and humble compared to others in his profession. Deal with confidence if you’re up in North Austin /​Cedar Park area. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer and bring AJ my other firearms to work on.

I chose Blackjack Gunsmithing because of Unilocal.I usually read several reviews before trying a new business especially restaurants. I could have gone to several other local gunsmiths but wanted to give them a try. I had an old 181 series Ruger Mini 14 that had never been fired. It was so gummed up from old oil that I could not even take it apart because I thought I would break something. They took it all apart and replaced a few springs, detailed cleaning and lubrication, and replaced the stock with a Tapco Intrafuse. Perfect job and service was quick. They are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and professional. I am using them again this week for more work. I finally found a gunsmith I can call «mine».

Great service.
I needed a pesky castle nut removed from a buffer tube that i couldn’t budge.
They don’t accept credit cards, so I went to the ATM across the street.
By the time I’d got back, the nut was removed and he’d even fitted the new buffer tube for me.
