My daughter and I had breakfast here this morning. Service was friendly and prompt. I loved the décor — has a nice Austin feel to it. My daughter got the French toast, and I had a poblano burrito special. The hash browns were perfect — extra crispy, just the way I like them, and I didn’t even have to ask! Great food, great ambiance.

Everything was very good, but usually very busy. Try a Sunday brunch and you’ll be in line for a while. I’ll take nothing away from the food, the service or the coffee. All were excellent. I’m just not a fan of waiting over an hour to sit down for 25 minutes. It is a rather small place after all. Wouldn’t change a thang, except more tables :). Seriously, if you’re willing to wait, you can’t go wrong. Breakfast is an event here as the lines will indicate. Very friendly wait staff. You can get your dose of caffeine here as well. Some creative menu items alongside more traditional fare.

The place is small(in a good way) and it was also packed, we waited about 10 minutes but it was worth it. The coffee is good and the food was great. I will come back again, so if you are looking for a good breakfast you can come here. Not expensive and they offer wifi.

Breakfast for dinner? Sign me up! I wish this place weren’t so friggin’ busy during the weekend! I’ve been here numerous of times and the quality of food is always good. This place knows breakfast, and I love breakfast. Yum! Omelettes, pancakes, and French toast are all great here. The Philly omelette was surprisingly good! I have not been adventurous enough to try the cheeseburger omelette even though I really want to(got to watch those calories!)

I’m a breakfast lover, so I take my breakfast choices seriously. hehe. To start, I will say that the Unilocal reviews are what influenced my decision and as always fellow Unilocalers never let me down. The wait for us at 11am on a Saturday morning was 30 minutes, we almost changed our minds just hearing that, but thankfully we stayed.(we were hungry) Food: VERY delicious and very generous portions, we were full well into the evening. Everything was tasty and delicious! Service: Although this place was bustling and quite crowded, our service was great all around. Everyone had a smile and kept the refills on water and coffee going up until we left. This is a must try and I will definitely be coming back when I’m in Austin again.

How have I neglected to write a review after eating here for about 4 years now? Delicious breakfast, tasty sandwiches, friendly service, great prices, amazing coffee. It can be a madhouse for breakfast/brunch on the weekends but just grab a coffee at the coffee bar and go outside and wait, it’ll be worth it. Eggs benedict on the weekends is my go-to. The burger is even tasty. The oatmeal is great too! You can also do to-go orders. Just go, and go again, get the coffee punch card, and become a regular. Do it.

Food hit the spot, really nice homey feel inside with colorful artwork. Waitress dropped the ball by not mentioning the board with specials, but maybe she thought It wasn’t my first time. So check the board or ask, might affect your choice. I went with the country omelet. Descent omelet, but when it said«potatoes and sausage,» I was envisioning nice pieces, not the sprinkling of ground pork they used. And for the potatoes I imagined nice chopped, roasted, and seasoned, not the SAME hash browns that come with the plate! I know its still technically a potato, but come on Café Java! Its about variety! All in all, satisfying meal, but I know they can do better. Update: upping my rating. went the 2nd time and waitress pointed out specials. Country Biscuits and gravy plate was very good, quality sausage, lot of food for $ 8 dollars! Also, Ive come to appreciate how well the staff works together, which gets your food out fast when they are busy. This is now my go-to neighborhood breakfast spot.

If you’re not into coffee this is not the place for you because just like the name they are all about quality of coffee. But the food is below average.

Went there with a friend because they showed up when I did a search for Cajun. Very disappointed. One item on the menu doesn’t qualify. Service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Food was neither good nor bad. Coffee(their regular roast dark) was the same as the food. They are next door to ACC and obviously survive on that. Not worth a special trip for adults.

I always seem to forget about this little gem of a place unless I happen to be nearby. I’ve only been for breakfast and, while there’s a pretty significant wait on weekends, it’s totally worth it. Service is quick and very friendly, everything I’ve eaten has always been delicious, try the board specials! Also, as you’d expect from a place with«java» in the name, their coffee is damn tasty, too! I really do need to add this to some sort of regular rotation, not just when I’m around the corner.

I had been here before and always had good experiences. But it doesn’t get any better than what happened yesterday. My boyfriend wanted to go out for breakfast which sounded like a great idea, but I REALLY didn’t have time. I had an appointment and the window was shrinking by the minute. We were both starving though, so we made the 12 minute drive to Café Java. Unexpectedly, the parking lot was almost full(10:45 am on a Friday). I started to worry. «This was a bad idea,» I said, «I’m going to be late.» We walked inside. All tables were full. I put my pseudonym down on the list(just something I like to have fun with). We were next in line for a table. I was trying not to fidget and trying not to look impatient or think about the minutes ticking by. Miraculously, two tables were soon vacated and we were seated at a nice booth immediately after it was cleared by the efficient hostess. We ordered coffee and looked at the menu. I’m trying to guess which items might be faster to prepare. The server comes back with the coffee and takes our order. Breakfast sandwich for him, migas for me, both with hashbrowns and OJ. I swear I was barely finished stirring cream and sugar into my coffee, when our food arrived. This place is magic. My partner says, «I think these are probably the best hashbrowns I’ve had in my life.» «I know!» I reply, «And I don’t even LIKE hashbrowns!» «Me either!» When she came to check on us she also brought the bill without us even having to ask. He went and paid while I chugged the rest of my orange juice. Also, you can get any size refill of your($ 1.85) Bottomless Coffee TO-GO! I made it to my appointment. This was a topic of conversation all day.

Super delicious food and amazing top notch customer service! Everyone here makes you feel like family and very welcomed! This plate was customized for me, substituted the refried beans and hash browns for grilled spinach and mushrooms with a side of avocado slices! Great balance healthy and goodness!

A happy and cozy place to go with your family and friends for brunch. Their food is solid – nothing crazily amazing, but definitely above average. I believe you can only make reservations on parties of 7 or more, so be prepared to wait(although definitely worth it) if you’re coming in on a weekend during brunch hours. I don’t live near either locations, but it’s worth the drive to have a relaxing brunch with old pals. Their coffee is so yummy! I don’t often drink coffee so I’m not coffee expert, but the«Whole Lotta Love» Latte is a restaurant favorite(and mine, as well). I’ve tried a lot of different items, from pancakes to hash browns to omelets to soft tacos, etc. Everything there will satisfy you for sure, but their hash browns are where it’s at. They’re amazing and definitely worth the carbs. Don’t expect to eat a fancy brunch with exquisite flavors or beautiful food presentation, because that’s not what this place is meant for. This is your neighborhood /family-friendly version of ihop, except better in every way. Your waiters will take care of you, and the food and coffee will make your dining experience one that makes you feel at-home.

I was really impressed with Café Java. I hadn’t been before, but I had heard good things from coworkers so it’s been on my list of places to check out for awhile. My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday morning after 12, so it was already pretty packed. We got on the wait list and it took a little bit, but they appeared to be turning tables pretty quickly so we decided to wait it out. Once we got inside we were seated at a booth with plenty of room and were helped immediately. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the egg sandwich with eggs over medium, and it was delicious! I was not disappointed at all. There was plenty of cheese and mayo to go along with the eggs and veggies, so it had a lot of flavor without being overpowering. The hash browns, though… they were amazing. They are super fresh and cooked well. I had their regular house drip coffee and it was very good! It definitely hit the spot, and they were not shy about refills. My boyfriend and I agreed that it was definitely worth the waiting time in the beginning! We got our food super quick and were able to check out at the front register, so we didn’t have to worry about getting our check back while they were busy.

After hearing about this place for literally YEARS, I finally went here. In fact, it turned into a Friday ritual for me over the last few months. It’s such a nice little tucked away place that’s also super cozy. The staff here is always beyond friendly and super personable. I honestly haven’t ventured the menu too much. My go to is the spinach salad. After the first time here, I quickly realized why people love it so much. They have a large, fun menu and the food is always on point. I don’t think they’re reinventing the culinary wheel so much but you’re getting good food at a great bargain.

I visited Café Java on a Wednesday around 12 – 1 pm. The place was a bit crowded, but it was mostly because people were paying near the front entrance. We walked in and just sat wherever we wanted, and then a waitress quickly accommodated us and handed our menus. I ordered the Soft Beef Tacos without cheese or rice and substituted avocado instead. The tacos were stuffed and filling, but I wouldn’t say that they were anything extraordinary. They were decent imo. The restrooms were pretty weird. I had to go through a door that would lead to a hall with more doors. They were single stalls, and there were two doors. One was for men and one was unisex. It would have been nice to have one for women. The customer service was good; the waitress was polite and the workers seemed friendly. I’m not itching to return, but if I do, I would want to try one of the more popular items on the menu.

My boyfriend was coming to town and he was staying at a hotel near the area and I didn’t want to go to far for breakfast so I went on a Unilocal search a found this place! I go to the ACC campus near by and I had no idea this restaurant was so close to campus! I will definitely be coming by here more often. We got there around 9AM and was seated immediately. It was semi crowded. It is a little bit hot inside so I would recommend a tee and a light jacket. The service was fast and quick. With it being so busy, I thought it was going to take a while for our food, but it came out fairly quick!(I’m impressed). I got the California omelet with fruits while he got french toast+bacon+scrambled eggs. I remembered him complementing the bacon, it was cooked just right! Overall, we had a great experience and I will look forward to coming back!

Delicious, high-quality American breakfast foods for cheap! Latte & coffee are to die for. Also they have daily specials that are oftentimes always worth it. But let me tell you about how I perceived the place, physically. I will go into explicit detail. I can imagine Café Java as the«alt-rock» sister of the classic Texas diner; replete with(very cheap) comfort food breakfast choices, families and members of the local community, all congregating for a simple yet legitimately delicious & fulfilling meal. Stepping inside this restaurant will make you feel as if you were just transported to one those late-90’s sitcoms. This cute little piece of heaven is a little eccentric without being pretentious, very homey and full of great people. Everything. I mean everything is perfect in here… from the size of the locale, to the inside temperature, noise level, scents & lighting. The BEST quality & most valuable asset of this establishment lies in the unbelievably wonderful customer service. There have been more than a handful of times that I solely come to have breakfast here because I’m having a not-very-good day and the servers/staff will immediately cheer me up– I swear to God this place has the sweetest servers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Café Java is a good distance away from the noisy and over-animated downtown area of Austin, and that makes it a truly special place. Its location is so concealed that their(very understated) front sign humbly hides behind a tree. I overheard one patron express how this diner doesn’t need the extensive marketing & inexcusable overpricing of items other business have to rely on, in order to stay afloat. The number of regulars(who have been living in the neighborhood for years) and ACC students are enough to keep this place busy and operating. Finding employees as lovely and attentive is rare in our city nowadays; the people who frequent this café are part of a generation of Texan urbanites who still hold Southern values with the stylish edge that made Austin attractive in the first place. Café Java feels a microcosm in itself– like time stopped and you are stepping into a virgin, pre-gentrification, beautiful and authentic Austin.

I was visiting Austin and wanted to find a neighborhood restaurant for breakfast. I dropped into this place on a Sunday morning and it was PACKED. I mean really packed. Like a 20 name waiting list packed. Fortunately for me i was eating alone and one guy at the bar had just finished his meal so I slipped right in. I was met with the kindest, friendliest staff I had ever met and was treated to a great breakfast and coffee. I had the corned beef hash and eggs and it was exactly what I expected. All American comfort food right there. Love this place. Definitely check it out.

Got the Monday blues? Head into Café Java for a «Whole Lotta Love» Latte and get yo self instantly cheered up!(Too bad it’s Wednesday as I post this… Catch it next week!) During my visit I had myself a delicious Chicken Caesar salad that came with some of the best toast I’ve ever eaten. The service was very quick despite them being packed wall to wall during the lunch hour I went. I also recommend buying your coffee beans here as well. You just can’t beat fresh locally roasted beans(I myself purchased the Moka Java beans)! I would definitely recommend this place to friends, and I can say that I will for sure be back for some more.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for a while, but I’m never in that neck of the woods. While visiting north Austin this past weekend, I decided to stop by. We arrived on a Sunday at around 10AM. It was PACKED! This place is super popular. There’s not much of a waiting area, so be ready to rub elbows with strangers(literally). The food was really good. Service was just OK. Everyone seemed kind of stressed out since it was so busy. It was also raining that morning, meaning no one wanted to wait outside. And our server seemed slightly annoyed that we didn’t know what we wanted to order the second we sat down. Overall, I’d try it again if I were in that area. The eggs Benedict was delicious and the portions were huge. Maybe just try to go when it won’t be so super busy.

It’s no mystery why this place is a local favorite… As their name implies — they serve up fresh, hot, delicious coffee and coffee-based beverages. This is just a really fun, no frills diner. Small dining room, and LOUD, but good atmosphere. Great food, fun specials, warm and friendly staff, lightning-fast service(despite the fact that it is PACKED on weekends). Vegan friendly. Lots of options. The owner is awesome, and works hard to ensure that customers have an excellent experience. Highly recommend them — stop by for breakfast or brunch and try their holiday migas — YUM.

This place is so good and all you’d want and expect from a great local diner. No fuu fuu fusion blahh blahh, just great fast quality breakfast(what I came for) served by a friendly team. Absolute pleasure dining here. I was single, so I was seated a little quicker at the bar. Arriving at 9am it was full and the wait time seemed to be about 20min for groups of 2+. I waited probably 10min for a seat at the bar. Torn between two specials, I went with the servers suggestion of eggs Benedict with a lemon poppyseed pancake on the side! Perfect. Not too sweet done just right. Would come back again.

Café Java part 2! This time I ordered the Ribeye Platter, which is already a ton of food. But since it’s Café Java, I HAD to get a pancake on the side. This is my post-workout meal; I’m justified, right? This ribeye steak. How can this small breakfast place cook a steak better than many steakhouses and bars??? Although their ribeye isn’t as thick, it was cooked a perfect medium-rare. An abundant marbling of fat and the steak grease that we all secretly love. I’m talking about 70:30 ratio of meat to fat. Every bite was just amazing. I seriously may never order anything else. When it comes to breakfast, Café Java is truth. Eggs were cooked perfectly and their pancakes are still the bomb.

I have a strange feeling this neighborhood café is going to be my hangout while I attend a class at ACC Northridge Campus during the summer. I’m glad they have something like this close by. Not that expensive and the food is good. I ordered a bacon-cheeseburger with potato salad and it was good. The service made me feel like I was one of the people that frequent the spot. That mattered a lot because it made me feel at ease while be in the restaurant that is low lit. They are in the same mini-mall as the pizza spot, dount shop and a gas station which apparently they also have a café too. At least, I know Café Java is close by ACC just in case I need a caffeine fix or a meal before class. Sometimes I need a meal and not a bunch of snacks to get me through class.
