Charm’s and Hollywood African Hair Braiding

First I want to say that I am not the type to write reviews, I downloaded this app just for this review!
This was my second time going to charm’s, the first time I went just for two braids but, mostly to check the place out. Everyone treated me kind they were fast and friendly. As I stated before it was only for two braid.
So a few months pass and I was really ready to invest in my hair as a birthday gift to myself. That’s what brings us to this review. I went in 30 minutes late this morning and the ladies of charm were waiting on me. I apologize but they seemed unbothered (never happens in a hair salon). With my son in tow we went in with lots of stuff and they were still sweet and pleasant as I remembered.
I sat in the chair and one of the braiders started doing my hair she was very soft spoken and allowed me to get up many times to tend to my 7yr old. With all the breaks the service was very fast and well worth the price.
I’m very observant! I watched the way they treated the other clients and the speed in their hands. They are very great with children. I watched a 9yr old girl sit in the chair and get the same style and not once did she wince. They continuously ask her if she was OK and the finished product was amazing. If I had a daughter this is where I’d take her.
The shop is clean the ladies are pleasant and the work they do can stand up to anyone.
This was the BEST experience that I’ve ever had getting my hair done!!!

This is my braid spot. Folks are nice, professional and take direction well. I love Awa’s braiding style and patience (they believe in pleasing the customer!) don’t think you will be disappointed… I will be back.

Got my hair done on October 2^nd for my birthday present to myself. Want to say Thank you again to Michelle she is the greatest braider I have ever had the pleasure of going to. You know you have a good one when you fall asleep in the chair. Michelle has magic fingers. Thanks again and I will be seeing you again in 3 months for my next new style

I truly wanted to give this place 4 stars and I will continue to use their services. My braids are beautiful, I must say. However, my appt. was at 800a and no one was there until 830−40ish and I will not let the braider named Stacey touch my head ever again in life. She’s too heavy handed for me. Everything started out well, 2 braiders on my head, great, lets get this over and done. Michelle and another braider started my braids (can’t remember her name). But as customers started to come in for service Michelle and the other braider started on other heads and I was swapped out for Stacey. Mind you, before any braider starts my hair, I advise them not to braid my edges tight and I hold the root of the braid as they braid to prevent breakage. I told her this over and over and over and she kept doing the same thing; pulling and tugging like I was a rag doll. What really ticked me off was after my hair was done (you all know your scalp hurts afterwards) she was pulling and tugging my head back for the hot water dip. I told her she was being to rough and she got an attitude. She dipped my hair and didn’t even tell me she was done. She started cleaning, with her lips poked out, and continued to ignore me. I gave my money to another braider because I didn’t have time for that nonsense. I said all this to say, Stacey is heavy handed and has a bad attitude. Happy with the results but she is slow and her customer service sucks!!!

I truly wanted to like this place. One week ago, I decided to get my hair braided at this place. The salon was okay and the braiding experience is one that I would never want to relive again. I original came in for one style and was quoted one price via email and got there I was told another price. I decided to get another style because the hair that I purchased wasn’t good. I accepted that answer and we proceed to start the style. I was told the price for the style and once started the price changed once again. I started to leave but I really wanted to treat myself to a «Birthday hairstyle» as I have been braiding my own hair for the last seven years. The braids were tight but bearable. I thought my hair looked great for the most part. The middle and back sections of my hair are twice as big as the perimeter of my hairline braids but I’m this is typical but not this much larger. I’ve included photos to show how neat the front of my hair is one week later and what the back and middle looks like. The back and middle looks as if I had these braids in for one month and it’s been a week and the look as if an amature braider did my hair. Keep in mind I am take really good care of my hair. I hair is wrapped every night. I feel like I’ve wasted my money. I wanted to keep these in for at least 2 months but it looks like I will be redoing my hair myself in less than a month. I’ve braided my own hair much neater and better myself.

I moved here in December not knowing anyone to do my hair. I found these nice ladies on Unilocal and so glad I did. I don’t think I’ll go to anyone else. I got my braids done today and I absolutely love them. The ladies that were braiding my hair was so nice. They seem to love what they do. My mother that lives in another state and will be coming here just to get her hair braided by them.

Awesome place. The customer service was outstanding! Even though they started about an hour late, the time was made up because they used 3 women to finish my hair and gave me a discount for the inconvenience. The prices are very reasonable and I am exceptionally happy I found an African Hair braiding spot that actually act like they like their customers. It took me 7 months to find the right place and Im happy I waited. My hair is a little over 2 inches long and you can not tell. They are really precise and I am DEFINITELY coming back again!

I like their work. Sitting in the chair getting my second set of braids from Charms. My first set was great, so I’m back for more.
I get long individual braids that took 8hours for 2 people to finish at my old braider in Houston. My new braider here usually finishes, by herself, in only 7 hours. They are friendly here and competitively priced. This is definitely my new braid spot!
The shop can be a bit cold, so bring a long sleeve just in case!
