Kinda sucks to know that this place is still closed I really hoped they’d keep this place open still remember going to get his macaroons and breakfest croissant would’ve liked that one of his assistants would’ve kept the place open

I am going to miss this place. The soup sandwiches and food were great. The thing that made this place amazing was the owner. Very friendly and loved to talk to everyone.

I just learned of Cheg Loic’s passing, and am still sad and miss him. Working on my wifes family history, they are from near his home. We used to have some great chats about France. Just getting to know him and he is gone. Rest In Peace, Chef Loic. Youre the best. As great as the sticky buns were, Chef Loic Duchesne as a person was far better.

I’m disappointed to find out that Chef sadly passed away October 2013. I’d found out via a mutual acquaintance one day during a conversation. Chef was an extremely kind individual and he had a great staff. I hope his Family will find some way to keep the place and legacy moving forward. RIP Chef Loic you are missed.

UPDATE: R.I.P. Chef Loic 10÷7÷13. Will miss greatly. Glad to know your legacy will be continued.
Original: I usually stop by the bakery as a special treat for my children right before we head off to the movies next door. Not only are the macarons (LOVE the caramel) excellent and genuine but the staff itself is incredibly professional and friendly. The chef is one of the nicest business owners I have ever met and very accommodating at that. I ordered 40 macarons and they were ready for me the next day. Their other sweets are also exquisite. I highly recommend this wonderful little bakery!

The chef, and owner, is awesome. We will call ahead on Saturdays to make sure he has enough chocolate chip cookies for us. If he needs to make more, he will. We’ve also gotten cookies that were a little softer than we like and he made sure to cook them more for us next time. Cooking is an art for him and he takes it seriously.
We took my mother in law here while she was visiting from Ohio and she also LOVED the cookies. So much so, that we had them send her some cookies to Ohio. They were happy to package and ship for us and she was VERY happy.
We are regulars and will continue to be!

This was my first memorable instance of eating macarons. There’s something really nice about the texture that I have not been able to find in my macaron quest post eating at Cinnamons.
While interesting combinations elsewhere are nice and novel, it doesn’t compare to having a structurally well made macaron. My boyfriend claims that he was not a macaron person until Cinnamons. The salt caramel macaron is a flavor explosion.
Personally, after eating many macarons for a week straight, I’m sick of macarons, but I will still eat them, buy them, and crave them from here.
Among other non-​macaron related things, Chef Loïc is very nice and the other offerings the café has are quite good, like their sandwiches and croissants. If you happen to come in when there’s a line formed, that is the biggest indicator that there is something worth waiting for, validation, if you will. Think about that next time you see a line.

The absolute best French Pastry in all of Austin!
The Croissants were perfect, flaky and buttery ~ have not had such a wonderful pastry in many years, seldom do you find such culinary skill ~ the macarons are also the best I’ve ever had. This place is my absolute favorite place in Austin for a cup of coffee and French Pastry…

I picked up a bunch of macarons for a dinner party as a last-​minute treat. Holy yum! Crisp, tender, and so full of flavor. The guests at the party loved them as much as we did.
I’ll be back for more goodies soon.

Delicious!!! We had lunch here– Turkey Caesar Croissant and a SouthWest Monster Dog! The Croissant was the softest, flakiest, butteriest one ever! The flavor of each of our meals was wonderful!
We kept staring at the huge cinnamon rolls while waiting for our lunch to be made FRESH. My boyfriend went and ordered 2 for us to take with, but he ended up eating his right away! I indulged in mine a few hours later and it was still soft and heavenly!!! The chef was so friendly and very talkative, he even came out and chatted with us for awhile. I love seeing an owner passionate about their business and being part of it on a daily basis! If I’m ever back in Austin I will definitely go back!!! You must go here for some deliciousness!!!

Love, love, love! My husband and I stopped by for the first time today in search of delicious French Macarons and we were not disappointed! The owner was so friendly and has the most charming French accent – he happily answered all of our questions and even offered to mix all the flavors of French Macarons in a box instead of just one flavor.
We couldn’t wait to try a Macaron and I’m glad we didn’t :) So delicious! Light and tasty, so yum! We can not wait to go back! We both want to try the cinnamon rolls there too :)

This place is amazing! Spinach and Gruyère Danish is there hidden treasure. Sticky buns are the best I have ever tasted. This is the best pastry shop in Austin. Everything here is delicious. Love being able to stop in at the Barton creek mall farmers markets on Saturday mornings and having pastries from them. There seasonal pastries are delish too: pumpkin, lemon, almond, mushroom. Yum yum.

MACARONS! MACARONS, YOU GUYS!
They are small ones but they are delicious and affordable. I’d love to come back and try the rest of their stuff. Almond croissants are only available on the weekends. I’ll have to try that next!

We were looking for a gluten free bakery and this bakery happen to be across the hotel we were staying in so we thought we would run in and see what they had. SOOOO very glad we did. They didn’t have alot of gluten free items for my daughter, but for the rest of us, the food was amazing!!! They do care gluten free peanut butter cookies and fabulous maccaroons. She said both were awesome.
The rest of us (that are not GF) partaked in the other foods. The cherry turnovers literally melt in your mouth. The cinnamon roll was amazing. The owner is a french pastry chef and his customer service was awesome! We will be back the next time we are in Austin or even driving through. It is sooo worth the stop!

Wow, I’ve apparently had a very different experience than most, judging by the reviews on here.
I stopped by here about a week and a half ago just because I was in the area. It was in the evening, probably about an hour before they closed. I walked inside, and it smelled delicious! Mmmmm.
I decided to just get a box of various little treats… a cinnamon chocolate chip cookie, a peanut butter cookie, a couple cinnamon twists, some checkerboard cookies, an apple turnover, some lemon curd macarons, a sticky bun, and a cinnamon roll. The total was around $ 25, which is basically what I expected.
On my way home, I ate the cinnamon chocolate chip cookie. Just as everyone on here has mentioned, it was delicious! I love cinnamon in my chocolate chip cookies. Next, I went for the apple turnover. It was good, but could have used more filling. (The ratio was a bit off.)
Later in the evening, the hubby and I got into the rest of the treats. The peanut butter cookie was a bust — very dry and crumbly. The cinnamon twists were OK, but also dry and a bit bland. The checkerboard cookies were almost tasteless — hubby made some coffee and dipped his cookies in the coffee to give them some taste. The lemon curd macarons were pretty good — strong lemon flavor, which is exactly what I’m looking for.
Lastly, we got into the sticky bun and cinnamon roll. Once again, too dry — I’ve never had rolls that dry before. I’m not sure if this was a fluke or what. Maybe it’s because I purchased them toward the end of the day, and not in the morning?
I’m willing to believe that perhaps this was just an off day, based on the other reviews. Perhaps I’ll try them again, but definitely in the morning, and I’ll just try one item at a time.

The whole truth is — I only stopped here because I was almost at my hotel when I realized I’d forgotten a fork for my take-​out lunch from Sarah’s. I had to stop somewhere, so I figured why not get a little treat in the process.
I’d read the Unilocal reviews and Jessica mentioned those chocolate chip cookies with cinnamon, so that’s the route I went. Wow, she was right about that cookie — it was delicious. I generally don’t eat a lot of sweets (curse of being a baker), but this was probably the most perfect choc chip cookie I’ve ever had.
This place smells awesome and the owner was very friendly, but seemed frazzled with 5 of us in the store and only one person working (him). I am glad I waited until the end of my week in Austin to stop in or I would have gone back… and all that sugar just isn’t a good way for me to start the year.
Oh, and thanks for the fork :)

Thank you, Chef Loic, for making your AMAZING macarons! I popped in this totally nondescript little bakery this morning and was immediately welcomed with the scent of butter in the air. That is exactly how a bakery should smell!
After reading an article from Austin 360 this morning, I decided to give this little place a shot; I am going through croissant-​withdrawal after a recent trip to Switzerland. Instead of the yummy-​looking croissants (but don’t worry, I shall return for you, m’dears), I opted for a cinnamon bun (sans icing, the way God intended it). For the record, I don’t really go for cinnamon buns (they usually are too dry or nastily trying to be a glutenous lump like Cinnabon), but this was a really nice little indulgence. Doughy, warm, and cinnamon-​y, but also with a slight little crunch on top. Very nice!
I also had a good, if not very interesting, skinny latte (no fancy foam work here, just your drink in a cup) to wash down my bun. While noshing I noticed a lot of customers coming in for lunch (which there are lots of options, most sounding, looking, and smelling great), so I’ll have to come back and see how good the rest of the food is for myself.
I can’t fail to mention the warm and friendly service at this place. As you can imagine, Cinnamons was probably a bit more hectic today than usual (due to that Austin 360 piece), but if anyone was frazzled, I could not tell. On the contrary, Chef Loic was busting his butt between taking orders, making drinks, directing staff, answering phones, AND personally bringing out food to patrons. What’s more impressive is that he did this with a smile and even took a little of his time to chat with customers. You don’t find service that nice too often, and it is really refreshing.
Before I left I made sure to purchase a dozen macarons for home. I opted for 6 lemon curd and 6 pistachio. HOLY MOLY they are good! Almost as good as the world-​famous Luxumburgli I developed an addiction to while in Zurich, and that’s saying a lot. You HAVE to try these treats!
A few things to keep in mind when you go here: Cinnamons Bakery is not much to look at (now), but I think they are just getting started. Once an upgrade is made with dishes, real mugs, and maybe some more modern (and French-​inspired?) décor you’ll have a destination café on your hands. Right now its a fantastic spot to grab some delicious food, but I hope that this can become more of a hang-​out in the near future. For that to happen, though, the interior will have to be a bit sexier and the wifi improved (I tried to get some work done for an hour and kept getting dropped). But what does all that matter when there are macarons to be devoured? Visit Cinnamons Bakery today — you won’t be disappointed!

Mmmmmmm, Macarons…
The macarons alone are worth it. Chef Loic is always friendly, and loves to talk about his cooking. It is sooo good!

On our recent «culinary tour of Austin» I wanted a cinnamon roll for breakfast. Cinnamon’s bakery came up along with the standard list of well known Austin breakfast spots. I liked the idea that the chef/​owner was a French pastry chef who’s true love is gooey cinnamon rolls. We went in about 11:00 on Sunday morning, and it was empty. I was a little worried that Unilocal had done me wrong. Not the case. It was great.
Nice chef was so nice. He got me a warm gooey sticky bun with icing, and the hubby had a classic cinnamon roll. The sticky bun is just a cinnamon roll with glazed pecans on it. The rolls were all big, freshly covered in icing, and very soft.
We were finishing up, when the hubby looked at me and said, «Time to go?» I said, «Ummm… I kinda want another one.» He grinned a very naughty grin and said, «ME TOO!» So we had another and bought a dozen to go for a friend.
They have other baked goods, but I’m not going to bother trying them. I’m sticking with what I love… yum!

I am in love with this place. I went here in late December and I’ve been back twice since then and plan on going again tomorrow. And I don’t live anywhere near this area.
This bakery is small and cozy. We’re always greeted warmly by Chef Loic. He’s adorable, super passionate and super sweet. ^_​^
I’ve had quite a few delicacies here, and since all of them were AMAZING I simply must let the whole world know.
Cinnamon Rolls — HUGE. Light, fluffy, just the right amount of cinnamon, and sweet but not too sweet. Probably the best I’ve had.
Chocolate Chip Cookies — Definitely THE BEST chocolate chips ever! They’re soft and chewy, huge, and have lots of big chunks of chocolate. And lastly, the dough has flavor! These aren’t the type of cookies in which the taste depends on the amount of chips present. I get some every time I’m here.
Checkerboard Cookie — First time I’ve ever tried one, so I have nothing to compare it to. It’s crumbly like shortbread and was yummy.
Coconut Cookie (macaroon) — Delicious! And I don’t every like coconut. Lightly crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside. Not at all heavy like others I’ve eaten.
Apple Turnover — Light and flaky dough with just the right amount of sweet and tart apple filling. Very good.
M&M Cookie — Probably the same dough has the chocolate chip cookie so nothing new to say here.
Truffles — Um, I forgot which liquor he told me was in them. XD But it was dark chocolate ganache with orange liquor covered in a hard shell and rolled in cocoa powder. For nine bucks, I got a dozen. By far the cheapest truffles I’ve had and the quality is just as good as those two-​dollar-​a-​pop ones.
Hot Chocolate — Yeah, it’s Seattle’s Best but I’m reviewing it anyway. Rich, creamy, and the perfect temperature every time.
Giant Pig (regular) — He was out of the spicy ones so I got the regular. It’s REALLY good. Top notch quality sausage, white cheese (Provolone? I’m not a big cheese person so I’m clueless It wasn’t the typical kolache cheese, though.), and delicious dough with great texture.
Croissant Sandwich (ham, egg, cheese) — You can tell that he made these himself! I’ve never had a croissant that wasn’t store bought, and now I know that there’s a huge difference. The sandwich was tasty, and I’d like to point out that the egg was boiled rather than the usual omelet style. Not something I’ve experienced before, but I liked it.
Buche de Noël (Coffee flavor, pre-​made) — This is what made me really hooked. One bite and you know it’s a true French-​style cake. Light, rich butter cream and delicious airy cake. Not to mention it was beautifully decorated. I bet it would have been even better fresh, though. It was seven inches (so he said) and $ 15. It looked a lot bigger and I would have paid much more if I got it anywhere else.
Tiramisu Cake (custom order) — WOW. Now first let me start by saying I don’t like tiramisu. Or rather, I should say I didn’t because this was absolutely amazing. A layer of the rich cheese mixture, not at all dense, followed by coffee soaked cake, another layer of cheese, and cocoa powder on top. A got a ten inch cake for $ 18. IT. WAS. HUGE. And gone in three days (shared with two other people, BTW!!).
The food is consistently delicious, very cheap (I feel bad, even!), and made with high quality ingredients as well as passion. Totally worth the trip all the way out here every single time.
