City of Austin Public Works Traffic Control

This City of Austin department seems to specialize in screwing up Austin’s traffic. If they don’t know how to solve a traffic problem, they create another by putting up another set of signals.
Traffic flow is not their goal; parking cars at signal lights to waste gas and pollute the environment interminably is. As for signal synchronization, they literally have no effing clue.
For prime examples, look at the haphazard way new signals have been thrown in along Slaughter Lane and Brodie Lane recently. Stop. Go. Stop. Go. These new signals are making an accordion of traffic more than they are flowing it.
And, on the few occasions they get something right, they inevitably screw it up. Take the signal at Convict Hill and Latta/​Brush Country. For the first six months of operation, it operated efficiently, allowing short waits at the light for all corners. Now, the Latta/​Brush Country traffic flows well, considering Convict Hill waits interminably while no cars are crossing.
The true test of their incompetence? Go to the CoA website, and try to click on their link. It doesn’t work, because they still have ‘test’ embedded in the URL. Fumbducks.
So, if you’re ever wondering who’s responsible while you’re waiting stuck in traffic, look no further. This is a house waiting to be cleaned from the top down.
