Clearview is a democratic school of the Sudbury model located in Austin, Texas. We are a secular private school with accessible tuition and we offer need based tuition discounts.
The school is run through the democratic School Meeting, where funds are allocated, policies enacted, duties assigned and laws created through Robert’s Rules of Order (parliamentary democracy). Every student and staff member has an equal opportunity to make motions, express their opinion, and vote.
Clearview is a unique alternative school in Austin. Our model assumes children are human beings endowed with the same innate intelligence, curiosity and drive for self mastery that is the hallmark of successful, happy adults. They do not need to be coerced into or pushed through learning, but simply allowed to exercise their innate curiosity. They deserve to be equals in the decision making processes that affect their lives, and to have their time and decisions respected.
