Jon has been my tech for my small business for the past 5 years or so. With each computer and their respective issues, usually unknowingly caused my me, he fixes them in a snap. Like a wizard or something! I am so glad to have him in my corner when crap hits the fan and our computer system goes down. If you want consistently great service, please shop local. John was able to recover some data I assumed I had lost due to claims of other non-​professionals that had inspected my computer. John was on time and was very prepared in that he brought his own monitor and necessary wires, as I only had the computer. I hadn’t bothered to ask the price of the service because I was eager to pay any amount to have my long lost pictures and documents back, especially because I assumed they were impossible to recover; However, after shelling out $ 85 dollars I couldn’t help but feel as though the service was seemingly easy for him. I usually base labor/​pay ratio by hour increments and he was barely there an hour if not less. After all was done I didn’t feel good about the amount I paid in relation to his cavalier demeanor while he was working. It seemed like most of the time we were waiting on the information to load onto my hard-​drive. Not to mention my lack of knowledge of even basic computer knowledge is quite obvious. He did help me and solve my problem but when I got my piano tuned the guy who tuned it reassured me that it was less work than he thought and charged me based on his efforts, that sense of honesty is something I admire in a business. In conclusion, I can’t help but feel I could have gotten the same service for less.

Had a malware infection that AVG and Malwarebytes couldn’t take care of. Jon came out at exactly the appointed time, spent 35 minutes on the computer and, voila, the computer is fixed. That was too easy and certainly worth the $ 85 not to have to disconnect the computer and take it into a shop. This is the way to have your computer repaired.

They «fixed» my laptop but for a few days it didn’t turn on. It came on randomly once since I got it repaired and I haven’t been able to repeat the process since.
I do give Jon mad props for the decent prices and the pick-​up/​drop off, but c’mon. I send in a laptop in the hopes it will get repaired and the problem is repaired it still doesn’t turn on?

Definitely recommend! Needed some help cleaning up some junk on our home computers, install a stubborn Brother color laser printer, and then properly network them all into our existing U-​Verse network. Jon was great! Arrived promptly and went right to work. Everything now works great! Highly recommend using Computer Repair of Austin for on-​site computer repair/​network issues. So happy to have found a legitimate online referral for this business! I am technically impaired & the thought of even finding a business that could help me restore my internet & tv (wifi) connection was intimidating. Jon was prompt, professional & did not throw any technical jargon my way. He was able to work from my broken explanation of what wasn’t working & had everything wrapped up in an hour at a super reasonable rate of $ 85/​hr. Amazing for the lengthy list of items I provided! My internet is finally moving at lightning speed & I’m able to get things done in an efficient manner. Bless it! Would highly recommend. In fact, I’ve saved Jon’s contact info to my phone & have already booked an appt for my parents — apple does not fall far.

I called and left a message for Jon on Monday, stating that I had seen good reviews on Unilocal and angie’s list and stated what the problem was.
Never heard back. It’s now Friday.
No biggie, I’ll find someone else. Not like there aren’t a ton of choices.

John was great. Came out on a Sunday. Spent an hour with my 4 year old laptop and made it run much much better. $ 85 dollars well spent. This should shed time sitting around waiting for things to load and pop ups galore coming up from my day.

Jon is awesome! My laptop is BACK!!! Best computer repair in Austin. My laptop was super sluggish, pop ups, a virus or two. My sons nurse suggested Jon. Got an appointment quickly, Jon arrived timely, good. He immediately told me that my fan was working overtime, he asked a few short ??? & went to work. 1 hour & 15 minutes later my laptop was debugged, viruses gone, & silent. He had totally taken it apart to clear the fan. So speedy & All for $ 95.00. VIVA JON!!!

John is a super righteous dude. I had a computer kaput on me about a year ago, and I contacted John. It took him awhile to get back to me but it turns out he was out of town and quite frankly there was nothing he could do anyway. The hard-​drive had failed. In any case, once he returned he tried to get back to me immediately both on Unilocal and through my email. Customer service is really important to me, so I was pleased that he went out of his way to help me.
So, when my second windows machine failed me less than 2 years later, I remembered him and called him up. Turns out it was the gd hard-​drive again, so there was nothing he could do. However, I was glad that he didn’t try to talk me into costly repairs just to earn a buck. He also tried to recover photos etc, from my old machine for a long time but when it got to be too long I decided to give up. If you value someone who’s hardworking and honest, John’s the man.

I cracked my laptop screen the night before the semester started and emailed the company after seeing these reviews late at night (around midnight). I got a prompt reply the next morning at 7 (and prompt replies to all emails for that matter). He gave me a straight price for the repair (which was very reasonable– The «cheap» computer service I get through campus being a student wanted to charge 5 dollars more, take my computer and make me wait five days). He was fine with me buying the part myself– I liked this because I knew I could get it as cheap as possible and have no mark up. He even offered a few solutions to get me by in the mean time while I waited for the part to get here. I messaged him the day the part came in and made an apt. for two days later (because it was convenient for me– he might be able to get you in even faster– who knows). He showed up a little late but he had messaged me telling me he was running behind– no big deal. He fixed my computer super fast (probably 20 mins?) and charged exactly what he had quoted me. Even took the old parts for recycling (: Oh and he takes cash or card! Super convenient. Super great service. If I or my roommates have any computer trouble I’ll definitely be using Jon again! (although I hope we dont) haha. (:

I dropped my Toshiba Satellite a couple of feet from my couch onto a tile floor and unfortunately, it glitched out on me so I came to Unilocal to see who to contact. I chose Computer Repair of Austin and used their convenient drop-​off/​pick-​up service (both on Sundays). It turned out I needed a new hard drive and Jon got back to me quickly with a quote and let me know that since it was an ultra-​slim that it would take a couple of days to get the new hard drive here. In the end, start-​to-​finish it was one week and I am very pleased with the service and price. I have already recommended them on our neighborhood Facebook page. Will definitely use them again.

Right before I flew out of state, my lap top caught a darn Trojan virus and wouldn’t go online. I went online, checked the reviews and chose Jon Hoskins from Computer Repair of Austin. He picked up my lap top on Memorial Day and brought it to my office today!!! The computer is SUPER happy and the virus is gone. I don’t usually hand out 5 stars but I had to give it up today!!! Thanks Jon!!! Very reliable and it was only $ 114. Office Depot wanted about $ 150 and with out pick up and delivery of course.

Had a very strange computer issue on a desktop that was under warranty. Was in need of sound advice and John patiently heard my issue and rather than insisting I bring it in, offered advise to troubleshoot on my own so I can send in to the manufacturer if it’s a hardware problem.
Needless to say if I need to get a computer repaired in Austin, this is where I am going.

I have not actually used their services but I contacted the co through email about pricing. The response I got I had to read it twice because he actually gave me a quote and a great description of what I should realistically expect from him but also a link to a place that will fix my problem for $ 50 less!
I really appreciated the honesty and options I was given. They will be the first I contact or refer my friends to for any computer problems!

Great customer service! I called Jon after reading the reviews and everything was exactly true. He came to my home to fix my blown LCD screen after initally odering the part with some basic info over the phone to diagnose the situation. Anyway, shortly after starting I smell smoke and ask if that’s coming from my computer… yes, in fact it was. HP sent an adapter as a solution to sending the wrong LCD which fried the screen. (again). I asked Jon what’s next, what’s his advice. He says if it were him he’d get a new laptop. I’m missing a few keys, the screen will cost $ 160 – 200 to fix, I can get a new one for $ 400. He guides me with a few online retailers as well as local. And he left without charging me, saying I didn’t get anything out of his service!!! Wow. Nice.
A day later I decide to get a big ‘ol flat screen monitor instead since my laptop still works, just not the screen. And I get one. And it’s awesome. And then, I can’t get it to work because I’ve got a black screen to work with trying to change my settings so the new monitor will register. F!!! Ah! HA! I call Jon again. Leave a messge begging for his consultation time, I’ll pay… I just HAVE to get on my computer. Within an hour he’s called back, talked me through an FN key and when I get home to try again it works! I can now read my emails from across the room and have 4 open windows going with out needing a magnifying glass.

I picked Jon based on previous Unilocal reviews and I’m glad I did. I called him on Friday and he was at my place on Monday fixing my computer in under forty minutes. He was so professional and didn’t mind explaining things to me that I had questions about – which were quite a few. I would definitely recommend him and use his services again!
I had a virus which he extracted/​repaired. He also suggested and installed new software protection. It was great and so convenient.
P. s. he also accepts checks and credit cards which I thought was pretty awesome since it’s just him who runs the company and visits each site personally.
