Cornucopia Popcorn

My daughter and I are popcorn lovers and made our first stop to Cornucopia. We loved being able to test out all the options before we made our choices. I got the white cheddar and my husband came home with the honey mustard. Whether you like salty, sweet, or savory, there is something for everyone here.

Cornucopia Popcorn is the BEST. Not only is it fun to go into the store and try all of the flavors, but you’ll walk out with the best popcorn ever, no matter what your preference — sweet, salty, savory and everything in-​between. My two favorites are the honey mustard and cake batter flavors. They are a must-​try.
Also, if you are looking for any corporate giveaways, weddings, holiday gifts, or client appreciate mailers look no further! Dave and the team are an unbelievable help and go above and beyond in everything you do. You always know you can count on them to get the job done right!

In other words, Cornucopia’s Dill Pickle Popcorn was a hit with my kids.
Which makes me think of the «Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers» nursery rhyme /​tongue twister!
I’m a fan of pretty much any kind of popcorn… whether it’s gourmet flavored, plain, buttered, microwaved, movie theater, or otherwise. I even like burnt popcorn! So, when I was given a bag of the Dill Pickle Cornucopia Popcorn in a goodie bag during a recent trip to Austin, it took a lot of self-​restraint not to dig right in and devour it myself!
I took it home with me and shared the bag with my two little kids… I wasn’t sure how they’d feel about the pickle flavor, but they loved it and so did I! My son even asked for more for breakfast the next morning… I guess I’m going to have to go online to order some now. Or better yet, I may have to make a return trip to Austin and head into the shop myself?!
After a quick visit to their website, I’m pleased to see the variety of sizes and flavors available, as well as the option to order customized corporate gifts.
I’ll end my review with a question for the creators of Cornucopia Popcorn: May I suggest you open another location in Phoenix?

Yes yes and yes to Cornucopia! This place rocks. I’ve never been to their location but my company ordered their popcorn as client holiday gifts and I kid you not– I received emails from half of my clients praising the popcorn bag. The Snickerdoodle and Dill Pickle flavors are SO good it’s torture. We even had them come out as a vendor a few times at our monthly work parties… The perfect crunch! Thanks Cornucopia!

This place is delicious! I feel that it could make those that aren’t a fan of popcorn, popcorn lovers. There are so many varieties that there is definitely a flavor for everybody. My particular favorites are the white chocolate cranberry and snickerdoodle. The prices are very affordable, and you can also sample various popcorn flavors to find the best for you. It’s great place when you’re looking for a yummy snack.

Love the NEW location on Red River, so much easier to get to! My favorites are Kettle, Movie Mix, Green Corn, Tuxedo and of course Dill Pickle!!! Everyone who works there is so nice and always suggesting great new flavors. I recently had a party and put out a bunch of tins for snacks while drinking cocktails. Needless to say they were the hit of the party. Thank you Cornucopia!

On Saturday I bought a 6.5 gallon, four flavor, for my moms birthday party and it was a HUGE hit with the kiddos and adults. My personal fav is Mexican hot chocolate with dill running close second. Oh and serving cups and scoop included!
Option to sample in store is such a great idea. Popcorn is always fresh and consistent. I ordered online because I know what I like but followed up with email that was answered timely. Customer service has always been top notch.

Helloooooo popcorn! I was super bummed when they moved their location from near the (former/​RIP Veggie Heaven), as I thought they went out of business. Then one time visiting Austin I saw they’d simply relocated. I love how you can try small samples of all the flavours you wish, and that they offer up custom tins for special events or businesses. Tasty, tasty, tasty.

This place is amazing! Every time I go in, I sample a few new flavors and always leave with a new favorite. The service is amazing, and David (the manager) is the nicest, friendliest, and coolest person ever! ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would eat again!

I’m at this place a few times a month refilling my tin (50% off refills) and wish I’d gotten a larger tin. The management is great and very accommodating. They have so many delicious flavors. I highly recommend Cornucopia to anyone who loves popcorn or who wants to give it as a gift.

I discovered Cornucopia when I was in college and it was BAD NEWS, especially when they had free popcorn day once a month. I love that they have the «kids size» bag that is perfect when you just want a little bit. They do groupon deals often which is nice. And if you have a tin, you can bring it back for discounted refills. HOWEVER, you cannot use a groupon to pay for a discounted refill… that was kind of crappy.
Over the years (between 2009−2012ish) their location on Guadalupe really deteriorated. The place was always messy, the floors sticky and it just didn’t feel clean or sanitary for a place that made food. This is why I’m removing a star.
I recently tried their new location and was quite impressed. Parking here is much easier and the store is cleaner than the old location, I just hope it stays that way.
Flavors: Dill pickle is always good, if you want savory I also like the pesto, ranch, curry, and chili flavors. For sweet, cornfetti is a crowd pleaser, as are the chocolate covered options (but these cost more) and the caramel varieties are some of my favorites (lavender!). You can always sample in the store and try some out.
Their tins are great for gifts or bringing to a party or weekend getaway!

Oh sweet popcorn Heaven. They have so many flavors a girl could walk away with enough popcorn to last through the zombie Apocalypse! The best part of the assortment is you can TRY as many flavors as your little heart desires.
My favorite: Dill pickle (yes this sounds soo weird. Just try it!) Chocolate covered Cherry (double yum!) Prices are reasonable and staff are super friendly. This is my favorite popcorn place in town!

I’ve come here a few times because my wife works nearby. There are plenty of flavors to choose from, and with that are plenty of sample opportunities. It can seem a little pricy, but these are definitely things that I can’t make on my own time.
I have had issues with internet in the building (and using the PayPal app) but otherwise this place is great. I’ve gotta a tin for a Christmas gift once and you can always come back with the tin for 50% off.

To say I love popcorn is an understatement. I don’t know how to say it better, though. I judge a movie theater by its popcorn first and foremost, then the rest follows. My dad could (and did) eat popcorn for dinner, so I’m sure I got it from him. Popcorn, oh popcorn, how I love you.
Cornucopia has a crazy selection of flavors all available for sampling. I must have tried 8 or 10 and now I’m kicking myself for not trying the dill pickle flavor after reading some of the reviews. The only one I was not super impressed with was the Chicago mix. Sorry, no one beats the real thing from the Windy City. But I’m not here to bash the flavors. Like pizza, I’m a snob about my Chicago mix. The other flavors were awesome! And I ended up with a huge bag of kennel corn flavor to go. That thing is going to last forever. Well, maybe not.

One of the fun things about the Holidays is the exchange of de minimis gifts from folks you probably only see once or twice a year. Case in point, this year i received a small bag of «Chicago Style» popcorn (which does NOT, apparently mean deep-​dish) from a family member. For those unaware, that’s cheese-​flavored popcorn mixed with caramel-​flavored. Sounds gross? Well, YOU’RE gross.
You should try it. Seriously.
So, that reminded me and the wife that we like caramel corn (when it’s good). Which reminded me of seeing reviews from friends, and friends gone by, for Cornucopia Popcorn, relocated recently to the block north of St. David’s Hospital on Red River.
Having just spent a week in Colora., errrrr… Having just seen the «60 Minutes» (wow, I’m getting old) story on Colorado «dispensaries», the adorable room lined with gumball machines looked a bit familiar. And each one is labelled in a way that you can tell which (few) contain gluten, if that’s important to you.
Shopping at Cornucopia goes like this:
1) Walk into store
2) Get greeted by an adorably friendly gal behind the counter
3) Sample to your heart’s content from any/​all of the gumball machines
4) Tell said adorably friendly gal what sizes/​flavors you would like
5) Pay
6) Wait a couple minutes, and then leave with your booty. And your popcorn.
Sadly, I am a bit boring, and was on a quest for straight up caramel corn. And I did find (with a taste test later using the caramel and the salted toffee from Cornucopia) that we preferred the Trader Joe’s fat-​free caramel corn (which an article in the Huffington Post describes as «like rice cakes», not in a good way). But hey, personal preference and all that…
Headed to a three-​star review, I thought: You know, this place isn’t just about caramel corn. Can I get «loaded baked potato», «salt and vinegar», or «Texas chili» flavored popcorn any time I crave it from the Trader Joe’s? Would Trader Joe’s be able to fill my order of 100 tins sent to my 100 best clients without missing a beat? Would I have ever met this one particular adorably friendly gal? Does Nicki D. really put «Dill Pickle» and «Birthday Cake» in the same tin, and, inexplicably, get completely excited about the prospect of doing so? These are the questions I ask myself, and share with my therapist. And these are the things that add up to my four-​star rating.

While the guy at the cash register was helping other people I scurried through the shop like a little cockroach stuffing my mouth with sample bites of crunchy, sweet, spicy, savory, chocolatey, cinnamony, peppery, cheesy, dilly, yummy popcorn keeping one eye on that cash register guy but he didn’t seem to mind my popcorn stuffing and dropping it on the floor although it seemed I simply could not get enough to make a good decision on what I wanted or I got too much and my brain was overwhelmed with flavors but I’m not exactly sure what happened to my selection abilities however just one bite will show you what I mean about shoving more and more of the crunchy, sweet, spicy, savory…(see above) popcorn into your pie hole so go and check this place out because the «Kid Bag» is only $ 2.95 and I had a «Free Bite» through the Belly app so you will want to download that since I purchased four kid bags for less than $ 10 and the samples are free plus they make 42 flavors.

So when the delightful Ashley S says, «I know this place! Let’s check it out!» I start thinking, isn’t this like those Claire places in the mall? Where you get your ears pierced & then buy stuff to fill them up again? So my first response was something like, «Ewww.» My next response after we walked in was, «What the?»
Which brings us all aboard to the next train of thought:
1. Can you wear popcorn as earrings?
2. How long does popcorn keep?
3. This place must be a chemist’s dream.
4. Why would you want dill-​pickle popcorn?
5. Holy shit! Cherry chocolate popcorn!
And once you know the Cornucopia process, it’s pretty cool: You’re surrounded by fifty flavors of popcorn, you sample everything, and then you go to the counter and buy bags or pails that the happy staff freshly fills for you. Seriously, is this a great country or what?
Prices apparently range from the $ 2.25 «kid-​size» bag to the zillion-​dollar «I hope you’re not sitting next to me at the movies» sized can, which appears to be bigger than most student apartments. Okay, maybe a little less than that. But you get the point.
And just pooh on the haters — Cornucopia is fun stuff, it’s tasty, and if you’ve got the time to stand around sampling popcorn, your life is pretty good. And as we were leaving, I did have some fleeting thoughts about Zeus & Almathea & the true spirit of Christmas, but you know, I take meds for all that stuff now. They kind of taste like cherry chocolate popcorn.

I have been going to cornucopia for years and absolutely love the service and food!
I recently ordered a large quantity for our nontraditonal wedding reception (held in a bar after a destination wedding). The website was having issues but staff were very helpful in assisting me with completing my order. When picking up, the order was ready, correct, and the staff helped me to my car with my purchase.
The popcorn is always amazing. Birthday cake is my favorite and was the hit at our party! Everyone was very excited to have an alternative to cake!

Thankfully the Unilocal app is current, because I got down to the Guadalupe location only to find they’d moved. I was SO glad this was BEFORE I tried parking at that old God forsaken parking lot. BUT. I found the new spot, and viola. Popcorn heaven!
Lots of amazing flavors, but we refilled our quad-​bucket with our faves. Dill Pickle, Birthday Cake, Tuxedo and Cinnamon Roll. For ½ off refills, the big bucket is always worth it. Especially if you have a bunch of littles that love popcorn.
I truly love that you can try every popcorn in the store, and as much as you want.
Go eat your heart out! And have floss ready.

I suffer from a moderately criminal habit of abusing store samples. By my second– sometimes third – appearance in front of the free sample booths at Costco (I affectionately call these visits the ‘Tour de Costco’), some employees start giving me exasperated looks of disapproval (never mess with the lady who prepares the brownies; brownies are labor-​intensive). Once, I was reprimanded by security because I’d crossed the legal threshold of sampling grocery Jelly Bellys. I think they threw around the word «shoplifting.»
In any case, I don’t need to worry about oversampling at Cornucopia. Upon my first visit I rotated through the store’s offerings (from sweet to savory to the chocolate-​drizzled and back to the sweets). The proprietors seemed to be fine with this voracious sampling. I also drank their free water. Lots of it. Out of guilt, I bought a few bags of popcorn, which were all delicious. The kettle corn was especially good. The dill pickle flavor was good, though overly salty.
I don’t think the popcorn is that overpriced, since I sneak them into movies. Using movie popcorn math (or, the outside popcorn to movie popcorn exchange rate) the stuff at Cornucopia is a fantastic deal.

The new location is WAY better. No more trying to find parking in an alley and being crammed in a tiny store. The girl who works on Saturday (or pretty much every Saturday I’ve been there), is as sweet as can be.
I’m a big fan of the sampling machines, and even a bigger fan of the veggie green corn. That stuff… Is… Amazing! It’s crack. Literally.
However, be careful with what they say is vegan. I went by what was marked on the store sampling machine and not online. At the time, they had that the Salted Toffee was vegan… Definitely not and it’s not listed online as vegan. I had a huge stomach ache after eating (I don’t do dairy because it does not sit with me well).
But in any case, the bag seems to be gone much quicker than I’d like, once I’m home. Just get double what you think you want, because you will eat. And eat. Oh yeah, and eat some more. I’d suggest a tin.
I’ll be back — I take visitors here when they are in town and frequent every couple of weeks.

When you walk in, it’s a tiny space lined with cereal dispensers from wall to wall, filled with every popcorn variety they have on tap that day. And with a welcoming smile, the associate behind the counter encouraged us to sample to our hearts content. And with that, I was off. I did in fact, try every variety — which was easily 25 types. There is a mix of both sweet and savory, and there are rotating seasonal flavors — you know to keep it interesting.
Over Fourth of July they had a «Patriotic» blend that was red/​white/​blue sweet mix.
I ended up walking away with mini grab bags at $ 2 a pop, of Jalapeño cheddar, loaded baked potato, and white cheddar to eat on the road trip home. This place is a great novelty idea.

I really want to give you only 2 stars because your product is so good that it makes me fat.
If you’ve never been to Cornucopia, drop everything and go there right now! Right now! Even though it may not be open when you’re reading this… go and wait outside until the morning when they open and you’ll be glad you did.
I don’t know where to begin with this place… they have more flavors of popcorn than Baskin Robbins has flavors of ice cream… and most of them are awesome. Some of them suck, but that’s just my taste talking.
I could go through all the flavors, but I can literally eat a gallon of their Honey Mustard or Sour Cream and Onion flavors in one sitting… they’re just incredible. Don’t like savory flavors? That’s ok, they have 12+ sweet flavors as well… oh and chocolate coated popcorn as well… like birthday cake or smores that comes with tiny graham cracker pieces and marshmallows in it… INCREDIBLE and INCREDIBLY FATTENING… BUT NO ONE CARES ABOUT NUTRITION FACTS WHEN GOING HERE BECAUSE THE POPCORN IS THAT GOOD!
I got a 20% off coupon when they moved from their old location and committed to the 6.5 gallon tin. That sucker set me back $ 49 after coupon… but maaaaaan was it worth every penny! And I can now get it refilled for ½ price the original price, which is $ 29! That’s a huge savings when it comes down to it and worth the investment if you have a popcorn problem like me.
Also if you have a Go Local card, you get a free children’s bag every time you make a purchase… oh AND…
YOU CAN TRY ALL THE POPCORN FLAVORS THEY HAVE IN STORE!
Bottom Line: You have got to go.

For the past two years I’ve been coming to this company to buy popcorn, and I have to say they are amazing! I buy a gallon tin each time my boyfriend’s birthday rolls around. I always meet somebody different every time I’m in, they’ve always been wonderfully helpful and chill.
If you consume a lot of flavorful popcorn I recommend getting one of their tins. They give you a huge discount when you come back to refill it. They cram three flavors of your choosing. The best part is you can sample all the flavors they have for the day, so no surprises when you get home, and something tastes… odd. :)
My favorite flavor? Champagne Pop! I think it’s a white chocolate strawberry pop candy. It fizzes in your mouth. It’s delicious!
