I am still heartbroken about this place shutting its doors. The past couple years have been full of heartbreak and struggle for me. Let me tell you Dallas Nite Club shutting down goes into the heartbreak bucket.
Like many other patrons of Dallas, I’ve been known from time to time to get behind the wheel after drinking too much. In fact, as luck would have it, my suspended drivers license due to a DUI was reinstated just days before Dallas Nite Club shut its doors forever.
I’ve thought a lot about the timing of these 2 things happening so close together. It has to be the universes way of telling me something. I’d worried for months about not getting hired by UBER/​LYFT b/​c of my DUI’s. Then I got hired-​a blessing as I finally now have a career but days later I found out Dallas was shutting down forever. The universe has to balance things out. I got a job but lost my favorite place to honky tonk.
I will forever cherish my memories at Dallas especially the good time I had the last night they were open. I took my soulmate (who I had just met and moved in with 2 weeks prior) there and we shared many drinks, many smokes, many dances, and many smooches.
Nothing good lasts forever but my love for Dallas Nite Club will live as long as I do– which might not be long considering all the cigarettes I’ve smoked this week. LOL. Love you Dallas!

Imo this place sucks. It’s a country bar tho’ so I guess that’s to be expected… filled with terrible music and it isn’t really fun at all. World famous bar huh? Yea right. I’m sure there are much better bars out there. I will give it that it’s spacious though, and that the outdoor patio is kind of nice, but when your view is just the street and businesses and you can still hear that horrible music playing it doesn’t add too much.

If you are a newcomer to the Two-​step, this is a great place to start out — infinitely better tuition than at the Broken Spoke, and far less expensive (not to mention having restrooms that don’t remind you of the Third World).
John, the main teacher, can get anyone dancing a basis two step within an hour, and both he and his lovely wife and dance partner are friendly and approachable. They ensure that everyone is matched up with a partner, and the class «rotates» so one gets practice with a whole variety of people. There are plenty of regulars who just go there to dance, and all the guys I’ve met there have been perfect gentlemen. It’s a nice safe environment for nervous first-​time dancers.
In addition, the drinks are very reasonably priced and there is plenty of parking. I haven’t tried their food — it’s a limited menu of bar snacks — but there are plenty of food options along Burnet, not least the El Mercado Tex-​Mex restaurant.

I’ve only been here Thursday’s for the Latin scene, but not too shabby! It’s $ 5 if you come at 7:00 for the dance lessons. I believe it gets more expensive as the night goes on. Get here early when there is room on the dance floor!
I used to big a part of the dancing scene in another city a few years ago, and this place has two qualities that really stand out: 1) Exceptional lessons (both introductory and intermediate), 2) Large dance floor. Robbie is a stellar instructor (intermediate class) with a spunky attitude who teaches the fine details and unique combos who will really change for the better the way you dance.
I believe the men here are typically appropriate with me, but I usually leave before midnight, so I can’t talk about what goes down after that. Ladies, if you don’t want to dance Bachata all close with someone, just tell him you like to dance with a lot of space before the fact. All of the men have been understanding and responsive to me when I say that. It’s your body and you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do!

Went there Sat nite and got there early enough for the lessons. Jessica from Uptown Dance taught two step. It was great. It was amazing how she got everyone going so well in such a short period of time and she threw in quite a few moves. Highly recommend going and getting there early enough for the lessons…

Really like this place, its kind of a hidden gem for dance clubs. There is always space on the floor to bust a move. I would definitely reccomend bringing a dance partner or two. I have come alone on occasion and while I have gotten asked to dance, I like to be on the floor the entire time. Music selection is good and it is primarily classic country. The drinks are always good, and there are dance classes on Saturday night. Overall its been a good experience and worth trying.

Can’t really attest to how good this place is for dance lessons, but I decided to check out the thousand dollar costume contest after seeing a friend post about it. Total waste of time. The people who actually had good costumes apparently lost to friends/​family of some of the staff. There was a girl in a really sweet home made genie costume who lost to some couple in what looked like $ 40 dollar store bought xmen costumes. Also they entered as Cyclops and Rogue, which is stupid since they’re never a couple. Wouldn’t have even posted this but I over heard the staff talking about how they made sure their friends got the money. Figure it might save some people the trouble of coming out to their contest and going to an honest one instead.

As of this writing (these things change frequently), Thursday at Dallas is Austin’s première salsa night, and with good reason… The music is a solid mix of old and new plus (familiar and found), the dance floor is spacious, the people are friendly, and the level of dance is generally high. I look forward to returning on a future visit to the city…

Pretty good spot for salsa dancing in Austin. Its the best it will get in Austin. Thursdays is the best day to go but Sundays is still there if you can’t make it on Thursday. You will still find people wanting to dance. The lessons should be taught by better teachers and there should be better marketing of the Latin nights. It’s a weekly ritual to dance here.

DNC is a pretty good place to dance, but I suggest you bring your own partner or know some people here. It can be kind of clique-​y. I have always felt safe here and have never seen a bar fight here, but maybe some attitudinal females occasionally. Everybody here is here to have a good time. The DJ normally does a pretty good job, they have breaks for booty shaking music and has enough slow songs to make a date fun. I don’t see this place as a meat market, because there are a lot of little groups of friends in here. One of the other pros I have a VIL card (very important lady) that gets me in free or $ off.
My main con is I wish men there would dance when us ladies ask them to dance, we are not looking to get married or have their baby. It’s just dancing, and men need to learn that we make them look better when we are smiling and having a good time. It makes you men more approachable! That is my only frustration at Dallas, so not too bad! There are a few men that will dance even if they are with someone, they believe it’s just dancing too.
On a final note, my favorite thing about the bar is my bartender, Patrick! He makes awesome drinks, is sweet, genuinely cares about his patrons, male and female alike. He even has so many great ideas for shots and other drinks. DNC you are lucky to have such a talented bartender!

I’m a fan of Dallas Nightclub, but will admit that your experience may vary. Over the past couple years they have been making an attempt to adjust the music to suit the audience. Some times they get it right some times they don’t. Last year they tried to do a western night that included both West Coast Swing and Two-​Step. It was originally very successful, but then they decided to switch to half hour segments of each dance style, which only bored each crowd and thing fell apart. I do give them credit for trying to adjust to the times and the crowd.
Their salsa nights (Currently Thursdays) on the other hand have always been a hit.

Oh, Dallas Nightclub. The median age for a customer here is around 45, so I definitely felt out of place and very young. Those old ladies can get down though! The drinks are cheap, and some guy bought us shots, so I guess I can’t complain. The music is pretty good (all country) and everyone seems to know how to dance pretty well, so it was a pretty fun time, but if you are under 40 and are looking to meet someone your age, this is NOT the place to go! I heard that Dallas was pretty popular around 20 years ago, it looks like the same people who loved it then are still going there today! If you don’t care about meeting anyone, and just want to go with your own group of friends, then it can lead to a fun, inexpensive night.

I’ll go if others go, but this isn’t the first place I think of when it comes to dancing. (Which is why I’m giving it two stars.) YMMV though, if you find a good crowd that night, you’ll have fun. If there aren’t that many people there that night, you’ll have a bad time.
The diversity of music played throughout the week is both a strength and a weakness – it never really specializes in any one thing, though it draws strong salsa and country crowds on their respective nights. Wednesday nights can be a bit of an issue since the DJ switches from country to pop to some more in between. You’ll find yourself sitting out songs if you can’t dance to more than one style (but hey, you should learn).
So! It’s not terrible – there’s alcohol and booths/​tables for groups. The dance floor is moderately-​sized with a few stone columns in the middle (classic country western track layout). And the waitstaff are pretty good about service if you’re ordering drinks. But as mentioned earlier, your dance experience is going to vary depending on the night you go and the crowd you happen to find.

Best place for Salsa dancing in Austin!
Thursday nights 9pm-​2am, be ready to sweat because it gets crowded and you’ll dance your face off — in a good way. I think 11 – 12 is the hour of power. Hard hitting salsa beats for the hardcore salseros, but those who are new to the scene will enjoy it, too. The DJ’s play a good mix of salsa, bachata (sometimes not my favorite selections, but that’s just me), cumbia, merengue and maybe one kizomba if you’re lucky.
The crowd varies from serious «I’m just here to get my dance on» to the «oooh, let’s go check out what this salsa stuff is about, y’all.» It’s easy to pick out who is who. The bartenders are friendly, drinks are cheap (I think my wells are about $ 3.75), and the free parking lot is huge!
$ 5 will get you in for a great time, and ladies who get there on VIL night score a card that will get them free entry on most nights. That’s a great deal!
When I die, I hope they take a pair of my old shoes, cover them in gold and hang them somewhere over the dancefloor. Such a tribute is only fitting for the Duchess.

So I have no other frame of reference for 2-​stepping… but:
MUSIC: mix of country and hip-​hop
CROWD: all ages 21+, lots of people in their 30’s-40’s, amateur and experienced
DRINKS: $ 3 shots and cheaper beers!
EXPERIENCE: Worthwhile — had a blast!
A few negatives:
-$ 2 cover charge? What’s the point?
–Also confused by the random poker table that you have to pay to play, but it’s fake chips
–Music didn’t really have continuity, esp. when it switched to hip hop
–The venue was so large that it looked «empty,» even though there was a considerable number of people in and out
–Wish they had a mechanical bull — would’ve made my Texas experience complete!

This is my new favorite hangout. Wednesday night is apparently $ 1.25 light (foamy water) beers and $ 2.25 shiners before 10pm. Somehow 2 light beers and a shiner ran me OVER $ 10 after 10pm though… not sure how that worked.
But the DANCE FLOOR IS SO BIG and SMOOTH and FULL (is that what she said?) of every level of dancers. While there’s the occasional creeper old enough to be my dad, there’s plenty of polite and friendly faces of all ages as well.

LOVE! Country bars can be a weird mix of lame and amazing. Guys in big hats and boots that want to flirt and be sweet or guys in big hats and boots that want to be creeps. But in this case, because we’re in Austin, mostly the former.
Drinks are insanely cheap, people are so nice and the dancers… well the dancers are superb. Whether they’re waltzing around to some modern country or slow dancing to tanya tucker or digging on snoop, the folks love showing off their moves.
Youll make new friends or run into old. You can get top notch to deliver and wednesday is ladies night. Thursday is Salsa night. Friday and Saturday are country nights again. This is the deal: Donta go here lookin for pretentious dramatic people. Throw on a pair of casuals and do the thing. Because you’re in Texas and it’s okay to spend $ 2 on a beer and take a girl round the dance floor.
