Daylight Donuts

Meh. Very mediocre. Normal commercialized donut place. It all seems very made-​from-​a-​mix. So while it tastes ok, it’s still meh.
The coffee is also very normal mediocre. Drinkable but nothing fancy. If you’re into good coffee or espresso, go somewhere else as the espresso tastes like drip. (I might possibly be spoiled.)
However if you’re just picking up coffee and donuts for a work meeting or something similar this would fit the bill.

This shop has been closed since February, even though their website and Unilocal page have yet to be updated.
Don’t waste a trip there, like we did.

The glazed donuts are the fluffiest and most delicious donuts EVER!

I bought the Living Social deal for a dozen specialty donuts but had difficulty redeeming it due to my late work nights and Daylight Donuts odd hours (for a donut shop they open very late). However, I was determined to try the delicious donuts I was reading about on Unilocal and finally made the trip on the last day the deal was valid, taking my mom along as she was in town to visit.
We got a late start and got lost on the way, and finally arrived with about half an hour to spare. I expected to find the «pickings» slim, but I was not prepared to find NOTHING left– there were no specialty donuts and just a few regular donuts.
Despite this, I normally would not be upset– I know that small businesses are often unprepared for the onslaught of Living Social/​Groupon redeemers on the last day the deals are valid. However, I was not prepared for the rude treatment I experienced.
I explained to the clerk that I had the Living Social deal but that I could see they had no specialty donuts. She confirmed that they had nothing left but I could use the deal on the few regular donuts left, but I noted the deal was for specialty donuts which are more expensive. She then began blaming me, stating that I had 120 days to redeem the deal and that I had arrived late in the day. I noted that I had gotten lost, and then smiled and said that I would just ask for a refund. At that point she seemed to get angry and rudely went on about how it was my fault «Well, you had 120 days to come here…» 120 days is not a lot of time, I have some Living Social deals that are good for years. My mom began to get angry at the way I was being treated and we both left immediately. I almost felt like we were being treated like a lower class and it was not a good feeling.
The fact of the matter is that the deal was still valid and we had attempted to redeem it during Daylight Donuts regular hours. They were not able to honor the deal. Rather than offer a decent alternative, the clerk was very disrespectful and treated me rudely in front of my mother and another customer. The whole episode left a bad taste in my mouth.

Excellent donuts. They have all the usual kinds along with several creative concoctions involving ingredients like raspberry filling or topping.
The shop is cute and clean, and the owner is charming. CHECK IT OUT.

On two separate occasions I purchased a box of a dozen donuts for pot luck parties. Both times, everybody praised the donuts and asked me for Daylight’s location. Last Saturday, my friend couldn’t tear herself away from the box and almost got a sugar overdose LOL
I’ve tried a lot of theses little gems and my favorite is the chocolate filled éclair. However, your taste may vary, so try em all, they are delicious and addictive.

Overpriced, yes. But delicious donuts and smoothies! I had a cinnamon roll and it was great. Not too heavy, very light and flaky. $ 7.50 for 2 large donuts and a smoothie is a lot though, but for a special treat, this place was great. Also it is immaculately clean and has a really friendly staff.

This has become my new go-​to place for donuts. Just because they are right around the corner from my office has absolutely nothing to do with it! The kolaches are very good. Two of them make a very filling breakfast for me. The donuts themselves are light and tasty, and a bag of donut holes are great for taking care of that craving throughout the day. I would say the biggest draw for me are the owners, though. Very friendly and like to keep their customers happy. They make all the goodies on site, including the pot pies on Fridays and weekends. Yummy pot pies.

Very expensive, very mediocre. I got the Living Social coupon based on the great reviews it had on here. So not worth the trip. I love donuts and these were disappointing.

The blueberry and lemon are my favorites so far. Great variety to enjoy.

A co-​worker brought in boxes of Daylight Donuts the other day, so I finally got to try them. (They’ve been on my «bookmark» list for a while.)
I only had the raised glazed donuts, but they were wonderful, (light and sweet — loved the glaze), and certainly good enough for me to want to make a drive out there to try some of their other donuts soon. Look for me, guys — I’ll be making an appearance in the near future! :)

This place is such a delight to visit. Their donuts not only make my tum tum very happy, but the establish is clean & the customer service superb. You shouldn’t leave this place without trying their Buttermilk & their Cake donuts.

The owners of this place are very nice and business oriented. I love their sausage-​n-​cheese kolaches! The bread is so soft. What puts this kolache in front of competitors is that is has more sausage than bread! That’s what I’m talking about! Every time I take the donuts into work everyone just raves about them.

Good Donuts, nice people. Bad coffee, unfortunate styrofoam cups. This is Austin, we’re hippies we want some of those paper cups we can compost not unbiodegradable cancer causing styrofoam cups. ‘Nuff said.

My wife and really enjoyed our experience. The donuts were delicious and the staff was very courteous. We’ll be back.

Daylight Donuts is a franchised donut shop, but it doesn’t have quite the hold of Shipley’s or Krispy Kreme, for good measure. Heck, I bet the aforementioned 2 could run the pieces of fried dough that possess a hole in the middle for near $ 2 a pop and not get railed for it.
I think Daylight has the same mindset, but perhaps this establishment boasts a little more clout, as no one may know that DD is, in fact, a chained breakfast eatery! Beyond that, it does the job. One negative is the late opening: 6:30AM with 7AM weekend openings. For those on the morning drive ~5:30 or 6, this may prove inconvenient. Luckily, there are other local shops around town.
The offerings are standard, but I wish they could have provided donut holes by the single. One negative of these dang powerhouses. You gotta buy ‘em by the dozen! The chocolate cake with coconut was fairly good, giving you a nice hint of cocoa. The apple fritter was a little to oil and syrup soaked, but it wasn’t bad.
It isn’t saying much in the way of negativity, but DD is about 20% more expensive than most institutions offering up the diet-​busting American staple. About $ 0.50 on top of your $ 2.50 order, rounding out your quarter Lincoln up to 3 Georges. Oh well, the minimal price we pay for convenience in America.

Delicious cream-​filled donuts with fluffy white cream. Bacon éclair thingies. Sweet, springy donuts.
Even better that, as far as a donut shop is concerned, they are open super late! Granted, this ends up only being about 1:00 or so, but when you’re having lunch at Man Bites Dog or Sarah’s next door, and you want to stretch your gut to bursting and indulge in a post-​falafel donut? You’re in luck! Boy howdy, are you!
