DECO Window Fashions

I checked the Austin area to have our Roman Shades repaired.
Everyone quoted a higher price and would take at least take a week.
I was checking on a Saturday and many were not even opened on
Saturday. I called Deco Window Fashions and James gave me a quote
that was not only lower but could have it ready in a few days.
They repaired nicely in a timely fashion.
James and Cluadia were super friendly and nice to top it off.
This will be my go to place for all window blind repair.

Because of their competitive pricing we were able to cover all of the windows in our home when we moved in. I couldn’t be happier! Recent I had the opportunity to work with DECO Window Fashions. Here in Colorado I needed new plantation shutters for my Townhome. James and Claudia recommended products from Hunter Douglas. James assited me via email with specs and selection and installation. I had a problem and James responded promptly. I now have new shutters and they are fantastic. They fit my room décor. With the new shutters I sleep better than I ever have. Being cold here in Colorado the shutters keep the cold from creeping in and keeping the master bedroom much warmer, I like a warmer bedroom!

Claudia and husband, James, are an excellent team of helpful, professionals who ensured I received the best price they could afford and remain in business.
The prior year I had done a lot on companies, pricing, but life happened and decorating my year old major renovation project back side’s open living-​kitchen space’s 6 windows that had little space between them to include aesthetics, function, & privacy that complimented the new space would have to wait nearly 9 months.
I had narrowed companies to 2 and product down to shutters last year, but over the winter I realized shutters would not be appropriate for my needs given the way the windows were situated and wanting a clear view of yard at times, and lighten up the room. Company #1 had said shutters were timeless & same cost. Well, depends on your needs as I realized before making the decision. Claudia was a bit more, but worth it to support small business.
I realized over the winter, shutters would not allow a clear view my nice back yard. I wondered how blinds would not lose too much light, while protecting rooms from the summer’s late afternoon heat gain, and keep privacy at night. Company #1 first tried to get me to buy Hunter Douglas energy efficient blinds (triple cell), but they just didn’t feel right in my space… but maybe they would have to. Hmmm. I also wondered what happens if I open the top to let light in like a transom window like I liked (aka «float“ing); would I lose all protection against summer’s hot afternoon heat? What other options were there?
I went to company #1 first again since they are the closest to me and I found there are vertical vs horizontal, top-​down-​bottom-​up/​float or to not float, lift systems: e.g., ultra glide or lite rise, Shades and blinds, Illumicell, darkening, neither, semi-​sheer or opaque, and I wondered about the Heat gain factor to block heat from coming in as sun beats in summer rather than letting air & heat out (I felt whatever I chose would do a decent job of keeping air in).
Company #1’s salesperson, Leslie, was still there, snagged me and still pushy and attitudinal. So I tried (unsuccessfully) to understand so many options she never showed last year and I wanted to understand this time since $ 3000-​$ 4000 was no small amount of money for me and I hoped to live in this home another 15 years.
I asked for some time to digest what was there because she kept pushing for an selection. I noticed roman shades she glossed over and asked for a quote since she didn’t really wish to talk about them. She shoved a quote my way, said it would be too much for me; the blinds would better suit me (yes, because she made them nearly twice the price of blinds), then she walked away saying she had work to do before they closed. Rude too.
Leslie did a big favor in the end because I immediately left, called Claudia for quotes, and went to her store a few days later.
Claudia showed me that roman shades similar to ones I fell in love with. She explained they had a backing behind them to keep dust out as opposed to many other brands seen elsewhere. The Hunter Douglas’ tiered Vignette roman shades also had a heat coefficient rating that showed they did a good job of keeping heat from coming in that the blinds didn’t do (a specs book exists for HDs products). Blinds did better at keeping air from escaping. Reminded me of why Texas windows are more about heat gain coefficient numbers rather than heat escaping from inside the house to outside in winter.
I wanted the option to have the top down and bottom up (i.e. «float» effect) so there was light at the top ¹⁄₈^th and blocked sun’s heat below in the hottest part of day, as the beautiful semi-​sheer white linen like fabric lightened up the rooms while adding contrast. She called Hunter Douglas to verify lite rise lift system (cordless) will not be warrantied if I wanted the «float“ing effect. The cords I have for top down/​bottom up are hardly seen and the mechanisms are amazingly smooth.
This was fun, yet added elegance to my space through textures and Claudia made it all so understandable, easy, clear, and affordable!!! They even beat blinds quote. So much for company #1 and rude, pushy Leslie. What a difference between the two companies.
James, Claudia’s husband, came out, and quickly had them up and showing me how to use them. He was very professional and the heads-​up email gave you his picture so you knew who was coming to your home. A really nice guy. There were some very minor, anal retentive tweaks James gladly came back to tweak for me the next week. Understanding this, I had a week to play with all moving parts in my standard imperfect (non-​level, non-​square) window openings.
Claudia and James not only run a professional, hard working, trustworthy competitive business, but also super nice people and would be a referral for them anytime. To know I helped a family business made me felt nice too. Thanks Claudia and James!

I highly recommend DECO Window Fashions as we now have two beautiful custom Roman shades. Claudia was very helpful with design and color decisions. She has a full range and variety of fabric and material choices. James made the installation process go well. Compared to another similar service their fees were more reasonable and the quality high. And, compared to the other service that I consulted, DECO has many more material selections and a greater variety of window treatments. I will definitely use DECO for our new living room drapes, the next project!

One of the slats of a wood blind was broken. I called & was so relieved to hear they could come to my house (for a modest additional charge) to fix the blind. Claudia & James just left and I have a perfect blind again. What a great service and they are such nice people too. This outfit knows what they are doing and it is very much appreciated.

I called Deco for repair work to be done on my wood blinds. They were quick to answer their phone and very helpful and courteous. An appt for the service technician was scheduled for that day. James, the service technician, called me immediately to confirm the appt. Not much later, he called me to say he would be stopping by sooner than originally anticipated (awesome!) that afternoon. A few of my blinds were missing the pull strings, and there were some other blinds that needed some misc. repair as well. He did the work very quickly and now all of the blinds are in proper working order! I am very impressed with Deco’s quick service, and very reasonable prices. I will definitely call them again!!!

We are in Interior Design firm that moved from Los Angeles, after many trials with a few other Drapery companies in town, we finally were HAPPY with Claudia’s team at Deco Window Fashions. They are always very helpful & knowledgable. We often went to them with last minute jobs and they always pulled thru! Competitively priced and great quality in their work. We received excellent service and beautiful blinds from DECO Window Fashions. Claudia and her husband James are very nice. They showed us tons of options and installed everything well. When one of the blinds malfunctioned (our fault) James came out at no charge to take a look and fix the blind. I would highly recommend them for anyone seeking window coverings.

I dropped by their store to see if they could fix a motorized blind that I figured would have to be replaced completely. James was able to repair the faulty blind for much less than a new blind. He knew I was prepared to purchase a new one, so this convinced me that this is a trustworthy business to deal with. I decided to give them my business for some window shutters we’ve been wanting.
