Jon (DJ Gatsby) was the one thing that all our of wedding guests kept talking about! He took our wedding guests down a journey from dinner to the dance floor. I don’t think I ever sat down to dance. Jon is also great to work with throughout wedding planning. He is responsive and has a lot of great recommendations to give.

When planning our NYE wedding we were a bit apprehensive about hiring a DJ to entertain our guests, but Jon couldn’t have proved us more wrong. From the moment of inquiry of availability, to the follow up email after the wedding, Jon was a complete joy to work with. He was generous with his time, suggestions, and attention.
Our wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect and so much of that was due to having Jon as one of our vendors. We and our guests have not stopped raving about him since. He provided us the dance party of our dreams purely through his amazingly creative talent.
If you are looking for a professional DJ who will actually mix music for your event, not just play a series of songs, Jon is your guy.

I’ve worked with Jon on several events ((I’m a photographer) and he is the bomb! Super smooth, professional and so nice to work with. Especially love the way he works with kids at bar mitzvahs. He keeps them on the dance floor all night! I can’t recommend him highly enough for weddings, mitzvahs, any kind of event. He’s the best.

He worked with us on song selection prior to the wedding. He gave the older crowd a few oldies/​classic, and as the night went on he turned things up. By the end of the night he was playing club music, and the dance floor was packed.

Jon (DJ Gatsby) DJ’ed our wedding and did an AMAZING job. We were super particular about the music that was going to be played, and he completely got the vibe we were going for. I can’t count how many people came up to me during the wedding and said «I can’t believe your DJ is playing this song, it’s amazing!» People were on the dance floor all night, and every song he played was awesome. He did a fantastic job of incorporating all the music we wanted and also playing music that both younger and older people would enjoy. Jon also MC’d the wedding beautifully. There was no «cheesy wedding DJ» vibe at all. He made sure that everything ran smoothly without him having to be on the microphone a lot.
Working with Jon was a pleasure. He was incredibly professional, responsive, organized and is just a very nice person. Before our wedding, he gave us a very detailed sheet with tons of music genres and songs, and asked us to mark it up, so he could get an idea about what music styles we liked. We then had some very lengthy calls to go over the music list, so he could make sure he knew exactly what we liked (and didn’t). Jon definitely paid attention and the wedding was filled with some of our most favorite songs – even one’s that I had forgotten how much I loved!
The music was one of the things I was the most nervous about for the wedding – as it can make or break a party. Jon totally made the party! I cannot say enough complimentary things about him!

When searching for a DJ to provide music for my daughter’s wedding this past August, I interviewed many local DJs (probably at least 8 – 10). Jon Simon aka DJ Gatsby immediately struck me as understanding exactly what we wanted for her big day! We hired DJ Gatsby (Jon) for our wedding outside Austin a few weeks ago. We were really hoping to stay away from the prototypical cheesy wedding DJ that we had experienced at so many weddings before. I knew Jon was a unique find as soon as I looked through his «resume». This guy has serious DJ chops — he’s worked in many different cities in all sorts of different venues. Not your typical wedding DJ.
Leading up to the event, Jon was extremely organized, professional, and friendly. I can’t stress enough how important this is for hiring wedding vendors. No matter how good someone is, they still need to be easy to work with.
The event itself was awesome. Jon clearly lives and breathes music, and I think this gives him the ability to make great decisions on the fly to guide the mood on the dance floor. He took our tastes into account but we really let him do his thing, and he did a great job. There was a great energy on the dance floor all night, and my only regret is that we didn’t make the party longer!

I own a bar and event space in downtown Austin and have worked with more DJs than I care to remember. However, I will always look forward to a night when DJ Gatsby comes in to play. He is by far one of the most talented, most professional, and most hospitable DJs I have ever worked with. Trust that you will not be disappointed with the product he delivers and the precision with which he approaches his work. Cheers!

Jon was easy to work with and more than just a DJ for hire.
For Amy’s Ice Creams 30^th reunion he was communicative throughout the entire planning process and customized the playlist so that it reflected the feeling of the event perfectly.
Always personable, Jon was also very professional and calm when guiding the event forward as an unplanned scheduling conflict arose. He kept the party on track and DANCING!

We loved DJ Gatsby! DJ Gatsby DJ’ed our wedding of 100 people and was wonderful to work with. Our wedding unfolded somewhat last minute and we hired him amidst the craziness of SXSW but he did a great job managing our requests. We interviewed a few DJ’s and chose Jon based on his super positive energy and love for music. He wasnt cheesy like a few we ran into and had a focus on creating atmosphere through music rather than his presence as an MC, which was exactly what we were looking for.
He provided us a list of music to choose from to help narrow down our preferences but was happy to take as much or as little of a lead as we wanted him to. He was very concerned with achieving what we wanted. He checked in with us periodically through the night to make sure the crazy aunt YMCA requests were OK and that we were happy with the flow. We created our entire wedding around as many personal touches as possible– from local handmade rings, family officiant, personal vows, texas flavor and a more family reunion style party over an overdone wedding, so we were thrilled to have a DJ who felt like a friend and not a run of the mill wedding DJ. Unfortunately due to the timing of our wedding and the chaos that ensues day of, we didnt get to know Jon as well as we would have liked but again, his energy will speak for itself!

Andres was a pleasure to work with, a true professional and very detail oriented. He did our wedding last weekend and had a great flow of music that fed off the energy of the crowd. He’s extremely personable, offers a flexible selection and comes prepared to put on a great show. He also has great equipment, wireless speakers, mics, etc. He was referred to us by another DJ that we’ve used a number of times in the past but was unavailable. While we love the former, I gotta say that Andres raised the bar for us… I highly recommend and will be calling on him again.

DJ Gatsby has a presence of professionalism and class. As a wedding coordinator, I can really relax knowing that he is on the job! He knows how to gauge a room to get people dancing. He is quick to respond to emails and goes above and beyond to make memories for his clients.

Jon is not only a superb DJ, he is also incredibly professional and one of the most sincere people I’ve met. He is usually the first person I think of when looking for a DJ. I am always impressed by his ability to customize playlists to any setting or theme, and he is always a crowd pleaser. He is quick to respond to emails and happy to help brainstorm or work through the planning process.
It is sadly uncommon to find someone who is not only excellent at their craft AND a pleasure to work with, but DJ Gatsby is the complete package. He is not only a go-​to for events, but if I happen to see his is playing somewhere downtown, I love bringing some friends out to listen. The last time we saw him at Firehouse Lounge, we literally stayed an extra hour just to listen to the fantastic playlist :)
