Dr. Ahmed is a native of West Virginia, but is an adopted Texan, having lived in the state since 1999. Dr. Ahmed practices general dermatology and serves as director of the new Central Texas Center for Pigmentary Disorders. He splits his time among his clinical practice, teaching and research.

Dr. Ahmed joined UT Physicians Dermatology in 2011. Born in Charleston, WV, Dr. Ahmed attended Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine, and completed his dermatology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas before he and his wife decided to move to Austin. He practices general dermatology, seeing both adults and children. He has a special interest in complex medical dermatology, skin cancer, and pigmentary disorders (white and dark spots), publishing extensive research in that arena. His practice is accepting new patients.
