They only accept cash or check and there is a significant wait… but the food is delicious!

Hands down my FAVORITE Crêpe place in town!!! I love the spinach and goat cheese and the Lemon curd. I get those two every single time and its always as good as the first time. If you haven’t been you must GO!!! I only wish they were open a little later and everyday of the week.

We were first time trying flip happy crepes and ordered one savory and one sweet crepes. They were amazing! The chicken murshroom crêpe had great flavor with sautéed murshroom, caramalized onion, white meat chicken, and some green onion. I love the flavor of its crêpe and the savory chicken mushroom. We also got lemon curd with blueberries, which was really good too. The lemon curd was made with great intense lemon flavor yet had balanced sweetness with its acidity. The blueberries jam on top of the crêpe added additional sweet fruit to the flavor and made it more fun. Overall, I really enjoyed both of crepes and was glad that I was able to try both savory and sweet crepes. However, it was a long wait when we stopped by today. They took the order very quickly but it took 30 minutes to get the food. Also, the portion of its crêpe was not very big so guys may need to eat 2 crepes to get full. The price is at higher side for its portion.

Before there were 2000 food trailers in Austin there was Torchy’s Tacos, Hey Cupcake and Filp Happy Crepes. Ok, my history may not be perfect here, but Flip Happy Crepes is definitely one of Austin’s earliest famous food trucks, and they are still one of my favorites. My most recent visit was about noon on the last Sunday of SWSX. I was pleasantly surprised that I was the next in line. Yes! for not waiting an hour to order my food. As usual the crepes were rich and luscious and the savory fillings were highly flavored and fresh. The shredded pork in the pork special was moist and delicious. The tarragon mushroom was also very flavorful and the spinach inside was super bright and fresh.

On a cold windy morning this past weekend I came up to Austin on a mission to try«Austiny» restaurants. My boyfriend, having lived in Austin for a few years decided to take me to one of his favorite food trucks, thus, we ended up at Flip Happy Crepes. I love the décor of this place. What do you mean décor? Well, even though the food truck has outdoor seating, the ambiance is so «French like.» I really enjoyed seeing the colorful chairs and tables in between these big tall trees in the middle of the city. It’s quite a sight. Attached to the trees, Flip Happy has installed some speakers and they played French music which made me feel like I was eating French crepes in a «French Forest Café.» I ordered the Cuban(I love pickles, pork, and mustard) and this had all three. YUM. The pork was juicy and the pickles and mustard mixed with the pork’s marinade gave it the unique combination of acidity + sweetness from the crêpe dough and sauce. My mouth is watering as I’m writing this. My boyfriend ordered his favorite, mushroom chicken crêpe. It was really tasty! Cheese, mushrooms and chicken is always a good combination on anything really… For dessert, we ate the banana and Nutella crêpe. I don’t know how I’ve survived my childhood without this hazelnutty chocolatey goodness… kids nowadays have it so good. Needless to say, we inhaled this crêpe like two deprived fat kids. I was interested in trying the Toddy iced coffee but it was so cold outside, I decided I’ll try it another time as I know I will be back. If you’re in Austin, be sure to stop by Flip Happy Crepes!

Holding pattern at four stars based on a good experience there about three years ago. Tried to go today and it turns out they’re closed all summer. I’ll update when this place is actually a business again.

We went on a slightly drizzly Sunday morning and there was no line and waited maybe 5 minutes for our food. The chicken mushroom crêpe was savory and delicious — so glad the actual crêpe contributed to the flavor and wasn’t just a holder. Easy street parking around and in the gravel lot — but CASHONLY. And I saw a sign that apparently they’ll be closed from July 2, 2012 — Aug or Sept? So you might want to call(if you can find a number for them) before you go.

Holy crêpe! This is still one of my favorite food trucks in Austin! The savory crepes are the way to go here: They mostly have chicken options for whatever reason with an oddball smoked salmon or veggie crêpe sprinkled in the mix. I usually default to the chicken pesto or the chicken with mushrooms and am never disappointed. They seemed to have improved the location from what I remember back in college — my most recent visit featured shaded picnic tables and I was lucky enough to score some prime street parking. Everyone seems to bitch about the wait but I usually don’t mind, I think it helps add to the relaxed French vibe. Downsides are Cash Only and that the Texas Teas are quite nasty, I’m thinking about starting a petition to get Sweet Leaf up in there.

Crepes in the middle of a parking lot. Heck, why not. We drove around to find this food truck. It’s a cute place– park a food truck in this lot, string some lights around some trees, grab some tables… and you got yourself a nice little cute outdoor restaurant. Hm, nice. We waited and got a savory crêpe and sweet crêpe. The shredded pork one we got was way too salty… so.meh. But the nutella crêpe we got was excellent. Very excellent. If you’re craving some sweet crepes(maybe not the savory, but def the sweet!), stop by flip happy. Well, go find flip happy. haha. I think it’s a cute little outdoorsy environment. it would be a cute date, in my opinion.

Why did it take me so long to try this place?! I have heard of flip happy for awhile now, but never thought to try it. Little did I know, I have been missing out! We tried the roasted chicken, chicken pesto, pork special, and the strawberry/banana/nutella. The chicken pesto was the best of the savory. Very flavorful! The strawberry/banana/nutella… well how can you go wrong with nutella?! I can’t wait to go back. The wait is a little long… we waited about 20 minutes for our food. Also, remember to bring cash! It is cash only. I suggest trying this place. You won’t regret it… unless you don’t like nutella.

GOODADVICE: BRINGCASH! Don’t get caught scrambling for bills after standing in line for a while like we did! Fear not, though, it seems that there is an ATM nearby. I went to Flip Happy on a Saturday for brunch with some friends. There is a small lot & also readily available street parking. They only have outdoor seating. Fortunately for us, it was a cloudy, not-too-hot morning. Flip Happy’s assortment of crepes, both sweet and savory, was extensive. I ordered a kid’s crêpe(still sizable) with chicken, cheddar, & spinach. I thought it was excellent. My friends went the sweet route and ordered a Nutella crêpe and also a lemon curd– filled crêpe with blueberry sauce. All reported back that their dishes were delicious. In addition to food, their beverage selection is awesome — notably, they carry Texas Tea made with Goodflow Honey! My only real issue was the wait time. The person taking orders let us know that it would be a 45 minute wait for our food. Be sure if you come to Flip Happy that you block out an ample amount of time and bring good company! :) I no longer live in the great 512 but Flip Happy is a place that I would consider coming back to during visits.

I’ve never had a savory crêpe before this and on top of that it was a freakin’ trailer in the middle of an empty lot. But, there was something charming about this little trailer. «Atmosphere» I’ve never and will probably never see/experience in California I ordered the Ham & Gruyère w/a salad & some kind of tea of the day. The salad was a small bed of spinach, tomatoes, cheese & a vinagrette-y dressing. The tea was a little too watery for Sean F.‘s liking but I like my tea diluted and not too sweet — strange I know. There was something addictive about it. But OMG. Ham & Gruyère. Wow. #$(@#)$ Delicious! I don’t know what it was about it but it was the perfect amount of saltiness/gooey cheese-ness. The crêpe skin to inside filling ratio was perfect. PARFAIT! Yes it’s cash only and yes you’ll have to wait for a little bit. But, as a So. Californian, I enjoyed not eating from a restaurant chain, eating TRULYDELICIOUSFOOD and just have a change of pace for once! I’m happy to see that this little trailer doesn’t have any wheels :) which means I“ll be back to try a dessert crêpe!

Haven’t tried this place for non-dessert crepes, but I love the sweet ones. The aptly named Peanut Butter Delight is both Peanut Buttery and Delightful! You also get some quality people-watching time here, a lot of amusing hipsters. Warning: Cash Only.

Years and years of trekking to Flip Happy and I finally got flipped. I bookmarked this place eons ago, and obviously I saw the throwdown too, but when I lived in Austin, it was pre-food truck and pre-food trailer so all of these spots intrigued me. Last winter I was in Austin for one day to play a gig at Waterloo with my old Celtic band from college. I went here first after driving from Houston(and flying from Vegas). I did my best to parallel park my mom’s SUV and then creeped up to Flip Happy… and the sign said closed for winter! Ahhhh! I ended up at mighty cone, but I was not ready to give up on trying. I finally was here this weekend for the wedding of a college friend who introduced me to my husband, and while our hotel had free breakfast(and I was staying off mopac and Braker) I woke up, waited for husband to go play basketball, then drove the rental car to Flip Happy. I had $ 8 in my wallet and that was just enough to buy a savory crêpe :) I was told to go savory since I can get sweet anywhere. I opted for the Moroccan chicken(chicken, roasted veggies, harissa, feta buttermilk sauce). I was pleased to see the savories came in hand held form, but I definitely needed a fork and knife. It was in the 50s outside and just beautiful. I ate my entire spicy zingy crêpe with no drink(no dinero after all) but it was really yummy. I hope to return without having to wait another 5 – 6 years to try more because if I go in a group I can eat a bite of everyone’s!

Oh my goodness. On my recent trip to Austin, I visited this place for breakfast. So glad I did. When faced with the many choices of crepes, I went with the peanut butter cream cheese and dark chocolate sauce combo(with bananas). I had never heard of peanut butter cream cheese so I just HAD to try it. I was expecting a too-sweet crêpe but this was not the case. The sweetest part of my meal were the bananas. This perfect level of sweetness allowed me to eat the whole thing without getting sick of it. I don’t know if this is a good thing or bad :) I also really like the fact that they have french-pressed coffee. I don’t see that a lot. Wish I did, though. It’s good stuff. The colorful seating area and loud French music coming out of the speakers make this a really cute and fun eating experience. I will definitely be scoping out the crêpe places now when I get back to Tucson!

Man, Ryan L. is right. You guys do get all the good food trucks. Not that I don’t love Mélange Creperie in Houston, but Flip Happy just upped the standard. Buffalo Sean does a great job as a one-man shop, but Flip Happy just has more. More menu, more employees, more quantity. I ordered the tarragon mushroom(veg option) with goat cheese, caramelized onion, tomato, mushrooms seasoned with tarragon. It came all wrapped up like a burrito, because it was pretty much the size of a burrito. The crêpe was crispy outside, soft inside and loaded with goodies. Pretty easy to eat, unlike your normal crepes that are flat and fat.(Do you start outside and work in, while risking stuff falling out, or work in to out, but risk getting sauce all over your face?) The dessert crepes come on a plate instead, ready to be cut into bite-sized pieces. I wanted something non-creamy and fruity, so I went with lemon and sugar. Yum. They also offer drinks– water, Texas iced tea, etc. Cash only. Lots of sitting area. We went after 1pm on a weekday, so the wait wasn’t too bad, but still about 20 minutes.

IWe were warned that we had to get there early to beat the line. We got there around 1130a on a Sunday and at first it didnt seem too crowded. We found a good parking spot and seating and we were only the 2nd group in line. However, after we ordered they estimated about 35min wait. Awesome. Luckily, it was a beautiful day in Austin and I had board games in my car to keep busy. 35min for crepes is a bit overkill. The food was good, but not worth the 35min wait. My cousin pulled up after us and called her order for pickup. Had we known you can order ahead of time, we would’ve done so. They gave her an estimated time of 20min. However, the call-in order didnt do anything good. Her food took at least 30min and that was after she got there. We sat there for over an hour and the 5 crepes that we ordered only took us about 5min to eat. The shredded pork was salty to me. My hubby liked it, but I think he was the only one.(I believe it was a cuban.) Their special was a chicken pesto and that I admit was delish. Their whipped peanut butter crêpe with dark chocolate and almonds was extremely sweet. I could only eat one bite. You would’ve thought that the dark chocolate would’ve made it less sweet. My daughter had a nutella roll and it was filled with so much nutella is leaked and she was covered in chocolate. Would I come back? It’s cheap and if I’m craving crepes then sure. But not during the peak hours. The crepes are overrated and not worth waiting 30+min.

Okay, I’ll fess up: I had already written my opening paragraph for Flip Happy Crepes before I even went there, and then I had to scrap it — at some point I’ll let go of this negative trailer food bias I have. I think you would have enjoyed some of the original lines though, like«Torchy’s Tacos meets La Cage aux Folles,» and«Give Me That Old-Time Burrito.» The point is I liked this place a lot more than I thought I would, and not just because it was a wet Saturday morning with easy parking and no one waiting in line: The scrambled egg and spinach breakfast crêpe was simply outstanding, and I liked the chicken and mushroom only slightly less, and only because it started going a tad salty on me about halfway through it. I was disappointed with my sweet crêpe — six banana slices and a drizzle of Nutella is not special, it’s just profit. This sounds goofy, but I always calculate the value of savory crepes by re-imagining its presentation within a restaurant setting: If the components were arranged artistically on delicate china, with the crêpe quartered and warmed in a silver basket, would I order it as an entrée? The savory crepes from Flip Happy? You bet. So once I figured out how to eat their stuff(I just ripped that inner paper off), and after a quick recovery from mild sticker shock(3 crepes and tip for $ 20), I understand why this place is popular and considered to be a top Austin trailer — where else can you walk up and get a French bistro experience wrapped up for your hand?

Flip Happy is one of those trailers that you have to visit while in Austin. There are a lot of taco stands, hot dog stands, etc., but not so many crêpe stands. I’m guessing that it’s because anyone that tries to compete with these guys just fail.miserably. I have never had crepes that were comparable to the ones at Happy Crepes. They were soft, yet tough enough to keep everything all together. You can eat it like a burrito without having to worry about everything collapsing. Flip Happy offers savory and sweet crepes. I’ve tried the Roasted Chicken, The Cuban(pulled pork), Salmon, and the Nutella with bananas and strawberries. These guys know what they are doing as the meats were cooked to perfection. None of it was dry and it packed a lot of flavor. I would definitely get each one of these again, depending on my mood. The nutella crêpe was pretty sweet so you definitely want to have a drink to wash it all down. The strawberries and bananas were all picked ripe and were a great compliment to the nutella. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu unless. .You don’t like that gamy taste in your food. Many of the crepes offer goat cheese and this stuff is legit! I love the fact that they don’t shy away from using strong cheese and a lot of it. If you don’t like the taste of nature I suggest you ask them to substitute the goat cheese with something else. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. :) They make it when you order it, which is awesome, but not so awesome at the same time. I do like hot and fresh food, but would like it if they could somehow make a system that was more efficient. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, I guess if I have to wait 20 minutes again for some Flip Happy Crepes I’ll be fine with that. Parkings also a pain. Be ready to circle around a couple of times to find a place to park. If you are hungry make sure to order 2 as the crepes aren’t really that big. The overall experience was great and maybe if I came when the weather was a bit cooler this would have put it over the top. Be sure to Vote for Flip Happy as America’s Favorite Food Truck on The Great Food Truck Race. It airs Sunday nights on the Food Network. Text FT23 to 66789 if you agree their food is great! Thank you, Flip Happy, for making my day. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future!

I’ve been lucky enough to not have to endure the long wait so I have no complaints about Flip Happy. This place is ALWAYS on my «places to try» list for visitors & for good reason. I love love love their savory & sweet crepes and I must have both during a visit. My favorite savory crêpe is the chicken, mushroom & gruyère(my favorite cheese!) and my favorite sweet crêpe is the berry & Chantilly cream one. They’re a little on the pricey side but definitely worth it. I wish they were open every day at every hour but I guess that’s asking for a bit much.
