Geek Squad

I had an issue with the freezer frosting up. The first tech informed me that he was going to order a new seal. Also informed me that I had a month left on my warranty. When I went online to extend my warranty it was already expired. I called Geek Squad and they would not take a payment for the warranty. I explained that I never received any notice about the warranty. They had the wrong address and still would not help me. When the final tech came to install the seal, he explained to me that the seal is fine, it is the door that is bent. Needless to say, they didn’t do it correctly and now I have no extended warranty

Except for computer repair — the geek squad is strictly an upper management decision making group from what I have experienced.
All they do is make a decision to exchange out electronics.
I had an experience with a Samsung TV — took them 3 visits to finally call Samsung about the problem because it needed to be escalated. The technicions came out, worked with the settings and upgraded the sftw (I could do that).
Eventually they found when talking to Samsung there was a compatability issue with the cable box I have so they took the TV back.

Now I had an Onkyo receiver that a simple (delay) relay was not engaging that turn on so that the electronics would be fully on prior to the sound signal to be processed.
I told them exactly what I knew, because when it would work I could hear the relay engage. Sent it in to their «certified» repair center — all they did was give me a credit to purchase another receiver.
A waste of my time and $$$$
They would not give me my receiver back — I told them I have a place that would fix it.

The sales guys at Best Buy are minimum wagers who don’t know diddly about the merchandise, but the Geek Squad that does after-​sales service is great. I’ve had occasional problems with my washer and dryer *cough* bra underwire *cough* and Dan V. was unfailingly polite, quick to understand the problem, and efficient in fixing it.
