Your molars are the «grooviest» teeth! With deep valleys and tall mountainous cusps, these are our primary eating teeth. Groovy Molar Pediatric Dental Care is excited to serve and protect your child’s groovy molars!

Since graduating from residency in 2004, I have had the incredible opportunity to work as an associate in many of the most respected pediatric dental offices in the DFW area and Austin. As a result, I have been able to take with me many valuable learning opportunities from my mentors while opening my own practice here in Central Austin. It is with excitement that I bring my creativity, knowledge, and experience to you through the «Groovy Molar!» Thank you!

I love what I do! As a pediatric dentist and father of two boys, it is not only important for a pediatric dentist to have excellent clinical skills and education, but an ability to provide a calm, reassuring environment for children.

Dr. Singleton attended the top ranked University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio, graduating in 2002. He completed his residency training as a specialist in pediatric dentistry through the University of Texas, Houston, Health Science Center, and Hermann Memorial Hospital in 2004. Two years later he obtained his Board Certification and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Singleton stays current with pediatric dental techniques, materials, and research through continuing education. He maintains membership in the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the local Austin district dental society.

It was our daughter’s first visit to the dentist and we couldn’t have picked a better place to choose as her first dentist experience. When you walk in, it is a kid’s playground heaven. Tons of activities to keep the kids entertained. Very «hip» and «cool» atmosphere in the lobby and you know that this isn’t going to be any ordinary visit to the dentist.
The staff is soooo patient, especially with our very very hesitant daughter. They didn’t rush her to do anything and even though we couldn’t go through with the entire visit because she just wasn’t ready, it didn’t frustrated the staff and instead they did as much as she would allow. She didn’t leave crying or traumatized and gave us a dentist pouch full of child size flossing picks, toothbrushes, paste, etc to practice with before our next visit. Despite not being able to do the full exam, we are extremely pleased with our first visit to Groovy Molar and look forward to returning for hopefully a more comprehensive exam.
This place definitely gets a 5 star from us!

Dr. Singleton and his staff are patient, professional, gentle, and kind. I’d recommend Groovy Molar to anyone, but would especially recommend it to parents of special needs kids. My little one is on the autism spectrum and has a lot of sensory issues and anxiety — everyone at Groovy Molar is a pro at working with him. He even ENJOYS going to the dentist now, which says a lot!

I was impressed from the moment we walked in the door. The waiting room décor was gorgeous, with enough toys and games to keep my 3 year old son occupied while we waited. The wait was not long at all though! Not even five minutes. The staff was so super friendly, I didn’t think this kind of service existed in our fast paced world anymore. You can tell Dr. Singleton loves what he does, and surrounds himself with a staff that feels the same. Everyone we encountered was super friendly and sincere. When the appointment was over, it was hard to leave! I look forward to Groovy Molar taking care of my son’s dental needs for many years to come.

Took my two boys here recently for our first dentist visit in a while. We weren’t sure what to expect — I hated the dentist as a kid and still approach the offices of those in the profession with a little trepidation. The entire visit was courteous, professional and most importantly of all, pain-​free for the kids and adults involved. Dr. Singleton and the Groovy Molar team did a great job from start-​to-​finish and we have definitely found our dentist of choice for the next 12 years.

I called wanting to make my babies new patients there, I asked one simple question and I got put on hold for 45 minutes! i really needed a children’s dentist, I will keep on looking before I get put on hold for that long!

When I was a little girl I had the most awesome dentist. In fact, I still have dreams about going to my old dentist office (no, not THOSE kind of dreams), happy dreams of being a kid and getting stickers and pencils and cute toothbrushes.
Anyway, I digress. I’m writing this review because our family is so thrilled with the quality of care that Dr. Singleton and his staff provides, and because I know that my own littles will grow up with sweet dreams of going to the dentist.
From the second you walk in the door and see the fabulous mid century décor, to the receptionist and hygienist, everyone there seems to have been born to work with kids and put them at ease. It’s clear that it comes from the top, because Dr. Singleton himself is so great with my kids and they actually look forward to going to the dentist!
As an aside, my son has a fluoride sensitivity and the staff went above and beyond to give us alternatives for natural toothpastes, and didn’t push the fluoride treatment at all. It’s always nice when your health care providers listen to you and go above and beyond to make sure you have a positive experience! And, y’all, they have a PIRATE TREASURE CHEST that the kids can pick a little gift out of at the end of the visit. Way better than the pencil I got back in 1980.
I highly recommend Groovy Molar to all mama’s and dad’s looking for a great dental experience for their kiddos, and parents too :).

We were very happy with our hygienist and dentist at Groovy Molar. The cleaning was quick yet thorough. The doctor took lots of time to look at my son’s teeth and make suggestions as to when it is right to seek an orthodontist’s opinion (he is only 7). I love their office, location, and their front desk staff is really nice. A++

I took my granddaughter there on 1−25−13. As soon as I walked thru the door I was amazed. The decorations are awesome. I felt so comfortable fun and relaxed at the same time. The staff was excellent and this is by far the best pediatric dentist office I have ever been to. They also took my insurance. I am a grown woman and i didn’t want to leave. I actually wanted to be a kid again. This place deseves 10 stars ! Totally recommend it.

I just got back from our first appointment at the Groovy Molar with my 13 month old daughter and could not be more pleased with our visit this morning. I had called first thing this morning to try to get an appointment to have her tooth looked at (she chipped her front tooth yesterday) and to schedule a cleaning, not expecting to get both scheduled for the same day. Not only was I able to get both appointments today, I got an appointment for 30 mins from when I called! I was so grateful.
My daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself: she loved the toys, the staff, and even generally tolerated the cleaning (for toddler standards!). Dr. Singleton was very caring and did an excellent job explaining everything in common language. We will definitely continue to come here for future dental appointments. I’m so thankful that her first experiences with going to the dentist will be positive ones. This will make for a great foundation for her, I am confident.

Dr. Singleton and his staff are fantastic. I love the office décor, as well as the way that he is with the kids. My son has some sensory issues and has had some problems with past dentists. My son is also a teeth grinder. Dr. Singleton helped me problem solve about this and is great with my son during his checkups. I highly recommend this place.
I also love that the theme and name of this place fits Austin so well. I enjoy local businesses with a great sense of humor and style.

Update from my February review. Since that review, my daughter has had her cavity filled with no problem. Last week she had her cleaning and she walked back with the dental hygentest with no problem — I did not have to walk back with her! They were able to take xrays and clean her teeth without incident. Towards the end of the appointment, they called me back to go over the xrays and discuss an orthodontist plan for my 9 year old. When I walked back, my daughter saw me and she asked me why was I back there because she was fine. Six months ago, going to the dentist was such an ordeal for her & now she is handling it like a pro. Dr. Singleton has been wonderful with my kids and I am still so happy we found him!

Dr. Singleton is a great dentist, no doubt about that. His assistant, she could use a little work, as in, be more patient with kids. While I was there, 2 children she took in for dental x-​rays came out crying, including my son. When I asked him if he was alright, he replied with a simple «I don’t like her. She’s mean.». Unfortunately, I was not able to join my son in the x-​ray room to see what exactly she was doing.
The cleaning was done with a toothbrush. Last time my son had his dental check up, it was in Dallas and they went the whole nine yards, no problem. I didn’t understand why he got a simple tooth-​brushing and fluoride application, and it ended up costing me $ 127.00?
I went to pay, and I ended up having to pay everything upfront. Mind you, they billed MetLife for me and I’m still waiting on my reimbursement check. So, if you go in, be ready to pay up and wait for reimbursement later.
Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Groovy Molar. The office looked great, billing lady was very kind, as was the dentist. Besides them, everyone else could use a little attitude adjustment. Especially if you’re working with children.

Great dentist for young kids. Highly reccomended, the doc and his assistant made it a fun experience. Took my 3 year old in, got x-​rays and a cleaning, it couldn’t have gone better.
Wtih some insurance they charge you full price and fill a claim with your insurance for you, so you might need your credit card. My old insurance worked this way, changed recently and they didn’t require any payment so I guess it depends on the ins company.

After two failed sedation attempts with other dentists, I brought my five year old daughter to Dr. Singleton. She was so anxious and fearful of dentists she wouldn’t let him do much and he honored that. I knew anesthesia was the only way to get the work she needed done and he agreed. Dr. Singleton was so gentle and kind to both of us. He gave me the best advice on how to prepare her for surgery and it absolutely worked. The entire experience was positive and now my daughter has all of the work complete! Also, the waiting area is fun and kid friendly, groovy décor all around, professional staff and an awesome dentist who will take time to listen and explain. They were also in network for our insurance. Do your child a favor and bring them to Groovy Molar first so they never develop anxiety and fear of dentists.

I cannot believe no one has Unilocaled Groovy Molar yet!!! Let’s start with the fact that I work for a Dentist (a specialist, but not a Pediatric Dentist) and upon recommendation from a friend, found Groovy Molar! Thank Jeebus for friends! Pros:
–Prompt, on time… actually we made them wait… the kiddo wanted to play!
–AWESOME AWESOME STAFF!
–Dr. Singleton has children of his own (which means he has tons of patience)
— Über modern décor with awesome magazines for parents to read aka: Atomic Ranch, Dwell… I didn’t see ONE Southern Living!!! BONUS!!!
–Great lobby with play area for the spawn

–Extremely great with my child who, yes, screamed… He’s 2 ½… no surprise!
–Offer complimentary exams for under one year!
