We literally had to move to another city — 2,500 miles away — in order to find a photographer who fit the bill. First off, I have a pretty gross smile/​face/​posture when I’m posing for a photograph. It’s a historical fact if anyone were to see me on Facebook. So when my husband started freaking out that he had found a photographer who wasn’t into posing but wanted to stand and observe I was interested. We had always wanted family photos done but had never been able to find someone who we resonated with. Capturing us and our two young boys at this fun age was really important for us and it ended up being one of the most enjoyable family events we’ve had.
Booking was incredibly easy. We chatted through email and when it came time to figure out a date we talked on the phone. Heather was gracious and fun to talk to. She didn’t mind when the phone call took 5x as long because my children were running around screaming like maniacs — which was a bonus.
We chose a bight sunny morning for our shoot. Heather floated in like a magical fairy photographer and introduced herself to our family. She got down to the boys level and started chatting with them, making them comfortable with her presence in the process. The loved her immediately. We showed Heather the house and she eyeballed different areas checking on light and what spaces would work best. She photographed us inside and out and wasn’t hesitant to ask to use props or be creative in order to get the height or angle she needed. She suggested when to move indoors and outdoors and where there was good light. It was a team effort and she was the ring leader. At no point where we asked to pose — we just did our thing.
She was encouraging and we didn’t feel the need to be stiff or awkward. A nice change from every other photograph we’ve had taken in our lives. We loved having her in our home. After Heather left my husband said «We’re totally doing this again in a few months».
The photographs came out beyond gorgeous. A mixture of silly and tender moments were captured all in a single morning. We posted a fraction of them for our friends and families and people are still talking about the adorable photos of the boys that melted their hearts. Several people told me that they had cried when viewing them. There was such a huge reaction to these photographs. These images will be cherished for lifetime.
A great personality and immense talent can take you far in life. Heather has it all.

Heather photographed the birth of my daughter, her first Christmas photos, and her first bluebonnet photos. Heather is warm, great with kids, and just so easy to work with. All of the photos she has done for us have been beautiful. We look forward to working with her many more times in the future. She is worth every penny.

I first discovered Heather through a few friends who cherish her for capturing the sweet milestones in the lives of their families time and time again. My photography needs, however, were a bit different since I was looking to construct an online store for my company’s website. Just by looking at Heather’s portfolio though you can see just how versatile she is in her craft, so I reached out. For us personally she has done everything from setting up a studio space in her home for still shot purposes to coming on premise for some busy days of photographing our garments on real people and capturing the energy and culture of our business. Even my shyest colleagues say they feel totally comfortable being in front of the camera when Heather is the one behind it — she brings out the light in people. Besides skill I think good communication is paramount in all business ventures, and I can attest that she is always prompt when responding to any questions I have. All is all Heather is the best, and I would totally recommend her to anyone!

Heather did a wonderful job with our bluebonnet mini-​sessions. We had never had professional photography and really love how they turned out. She was very laid back and took her time allowing our 2 year old to warm up to the camera. Her work is proudly hanging on our walls!

Heather was awesome! We searched quite extensively for a good photographer that has reasonable prices. Heather’s prices were just right, and her quality is outstanding. She photographed our family (me, my wife, 3yr old daughter, and our 10yr old boxer), and she was so patient! She was great with our daughter, who started out cranky after a short nap just before the shoot. Before long, Heather had her laughing and having fun. Our boxer can be a bit of a licker and wiggler, and Heather took it all in stride. The end results were great! I would recommend her services to anyone! We will certainly return to Heather for future photos, without hesitation.

Heather photographed my sister-in-law’s wedding. I appreciated that she did an online gallery of prints to choose from so I could order pics directly, particularly of my kids, two of whom were in the wedding. It’s nice to have professional-​grade images of your kiddos without having to set up a photo shoot of your own! We lucked out as she had taken pics of all three of our kids, so we purchased one photo of each kid, plus a few more of family. The prices per print were very reasonable and she had great communication.
She went above and beyond because I had asked permission to use her images for our annual Christmas card. She granted permission, and I waited for the images to come – through no fault of her own, the post office was slow in delivering the pics, which she had sent 2-​day priority. They took about a week longer than anticipated, so she sent me the digital download so I could get my cards out on time. It was much appreciated and she certainly didn’t have to do that just because the post office was delayed. If I were in the Austin area again, I would certainly hire her services!

I had an excellent experience with Heather. So was decisive and knew what she was doing, which was great because I had no idea what I was doing. haha… She picked a great spot and the photos came out great. My LinkedIn and other online profiles will look so much better with Heather’s pictures on them. It sure beats the old cell phone pictures I used to use for my professional needs!

I was looking for a photographer based in Austin that would be able to capture my family. I didn’t know exactly where to look. After reviewing some other photography portfolio pages, Heather’s work just seemed to stand out. Her web site is really well designed and easy to browse through. She was quick and responsive to all of my emails and questions. Unfortunately an emergency forced me to reschedule our family portrait session. Heather was flexible with her schedule and we managed to have a great time during the shoot. She was very professional and took us to a beautiful unique location for our session. She was polite and conversational throughout.
The photos that came with the session were awesome, pretty much exactly what my wife and I were hoping for. It feels so great having a candid moment hanging on our wall now. The final images were delivered quickly and were stunning. My wife immediately said that we should use her again! Highly recommended!

Heather is awesome.
After shooting my maternity photos I have hired her for family portraits, holiday photos, and to shoot my sons birthday. She has caught so many perfect moments — and we all know getting a perfect picture of a baby is not an easy task. On top of it all she is professional, friendly, AND she delivers the finished pictures just days after the shoot.
We are planing on using her for lots of special moments to come.

After I saw a few photographs by Heather Gallagher I quickly fell in love with her work. I booked her to shoot my engagement and wedding photos in Austin last year. Most of my favorite photos from my wedding were the ones we didn’t pose for. She is incredibly talented at getting those candid photos that capture the moment and tell a story. We used Heather Gallagher Photography to document the birth of our son. We wanted to be able to document & share the special moment with our families that are both out of state. I wanted my husband to be able to enjoy the birth process and not be stuck behind a camera so we asked Heather to photograph the birth for us. She was amazing and very accommodating throughout the entire process. We are both so very thankful that she was there to capture each and every moment for us. The pictures are truly priceless and bring a tear to my eye each time I look at them. Heather was able to capture exactly everything we hoped for and more.
