Yogurt shops are the new ice cream stores, especially in Austin, where no one can compete with Amy’s Ice Cream. So it comes down to micro-comparisons of yogurt shop décor, yogurt flavors and quality, service, location, etc. So let’s start with the yogurt. They offer a variety of flavors(8 to 10), which thankfully include my favorites: chocolate, coffee/espresso, and real vanilla. Is that too boring? There are plenty of fruity and tarty flavors as well. They don’t claim to have probiotics or post a list of ingredients, but the flavors taste authentic and the texture is rich. Yes, I’d like to know more about what’s in the stuff. But it tastes good, not like a batch of watery frozen chemicals that you may have accidentally consumed elsewhere. The toppings are rather finely chopped/ground, so they don’t freeze into a tooth-breaking chunk upon application. Smart! There’s a good variety of fruit, nuts, crushed candies, chocolate, and little colored liquid flavor balls that look like tapioca but aren’t. At 45 cents an ounce, the price is about average. From my perspective, this new yogurt spot has a great location in Four Points, right in between the movie theatre and several shops and restaurants. You can park once and walk to everything. There’s a spacious open deck in front with multiple tables and chairs. The inside dining area is pleasant and the chairs can accommodate an adult. A bonus! Their décor doesn’t shout at you, and everything(including the bathrooms) is clean, clean, clean. There always seems to be an employee cleaning something. Their music is loud and fun, and the employees are friendly and helpful, like they really enjoy working there. Oh, and It’s About Yogurt is locally owned, not a chain. Major points in my Keepin-it-Weird, Austin book. Go check them out.

It’s like Orange Leaf, but green. I guess I don’t get too worked up about chocolate sprinkles… I’m just happy that there’s a closer frozen yogurt place for the kids. As for details, it’s no different than all the other self-serve frozen yogurt places in town. They have cups, you fill them with frozen yogurt, you add candy and toppings, then you marvel at how all the little scoops added up to so much stuff as you try to finish it all.

Thank god for Joe C. because he knows his yogurt!!! Walking in I was a little sad that they only had 8 flavors and most of them were on the sweeter side. But then the glorious sample cups came out and I got to «try» 3 out of the 8 flavor choices and oh my goodness, the yogurt gods must have been smiling down at me because that was the best and I mean best tasting yogurt I have had in quite sometime. The flavor was spot on, deep and smooth tasting. I sampled, tart, cheesecake, and espresso(my favorite). Just by sampling this yogurt you can tell the difference between high quality and generic yogurts. Sadly at this point I realize I’ve come accustomed to poor tasting yogurt. But not anymore! Thank you It’s about Yogurt, for rejuvenating my love of yogurt! They had a lot of toppings. I loved how the fruit was cut, diced! Just like it should be! Orange leaf take note! No one wants your huge pineapples or your large kiwi’ chucks. If you don’t like the inside(not that inviting) Go sit outside, they have about 4 tables overlooking the shopping center plaza area. The cost was 45 cents an ounce, making this place pretty reasonable, and considering how wonderful and spot on there yogurt is, it really is worth the price! This is my new yogurt place.

Well, the first two reviewers have been, errr… spirited. So, bored on a Saturday night, I thought why not… Typical froyo setup, 10 flavors(plus swirls). Grab a cup, mix and match. Add toppings, and weigh. I sampled the cookies and cream(I was offered a sample cup, but others did have to ask), and put 3 flavors in my serving cup. On the spectrum of froyo flavor profiles, I.A.Y. is more on the side of ice cream, not the tart or tangy/yogurty flavors at other places. If you’re like my wife, and don’t seek taro/lychee/tart flavors as much, this is right up your alley. Decent amount of toppings, including sauces. I put up a pic of the eight sauces they have now(chocolate, caramel, strawberry, and some non-standard ones like mango, lemon zest, kiwi lime). Kudos for the fresh mochi, and having peanuts, slivered almonds, AND walnuts(don’t often see all three). Still not sure of the décor. The interior was basically a dance floor when I was there. There was one tiny table against the wall, and like 10 chairs already stacked up for the night. The outside patio is great in May, but might not be as fun in a month or two. I assume the interior is still a work in progress. Pluses: — The consistency(if you like smooth and creamy froyo) — The cleanliness(though to be fair, it’s brand new). I was warned that«some kid put his hands in the gummy bears», and they removed them for a complete replacement. — The location: next to a busy moviehouse and sports bar, so lots of foot traffic Minuses: — The location: next to a busy moviehouse and sports bar, so the parking lot is kind of crazy — The décor: Nothing there makes me want to stay long. It’s a froyo place. It makes no attempt to be part coffeehouse/study area(neither does Amy’s). I’m not sure I would have sat in one of the inside chairs very long. But if «policy says we start putting things up with an hour to go» is correct, then I’d rather get the same service/seating options at 9:10 when they close at 10 that the 4pm folks got. They certainly still had a steady stream of customers. — Nutrition/allergen info: We’d need an easy way to tell which flavors are gluten free if me and my wife are going to come here with any frequency. And I’m sure others are concerned about sugar or dairy(not sure if they have dairy-free options) etc. The flavor/topping choices are adequate. Not as much as our fave froyo shops, but not small either. 4 Stars, «It’s About Yogurt».

I take back everything I said. I suck. This place is just days into their grand opening. They hadn’t yet received their tables and hadn’t worked out the condiment kinks. I’ve been promised a customer loyalty card is on the way. And, most importantly, chocolate sprinkles, too. I will upgrade this to 3 stars since it’s still a work in progress. But I will go there again(maybe in like 5 minutes) and can add a star or two when I can get my chocolate sprinkles, hot fudge and sit inside if I so desire.

Wow. The first reviewer sure takes her frozen yogurt seriously! Yes, this place isn’t as polished as the big box competitor down the street, but the yogurt is yummy, the outdoor seating is awesome, the service is super friendly… And they just opened up – like last week. I’m sure that they have some kinks to work out, and that they’ll build upon what they already offer – but sheesh. I’ve seen MANY established businesses that aren’t rocking it like they are. Even if nothing changes, I would much rather visit this place. The owner is on site(can we say local business?), it’s really convenient to get to for those of us who live in the Four Points Area, the prices are reasonable, and I like their variety of yogurt and toppings. Personally? I’ve never been much for chocolate syrup. And, I really like supporting local businesses. I say, Keep it up, It’s All About Yogurt! I’m so glad that you’re there now, and I look forward to many visits over the coming months.
