We made it for closing night. We have been going there since about the second week they were open — many times for dinner, brunch, happy hour and lunch(back when they served it!). Had my wife’s 40th birthday celebration with friends in the private room. We will miss the consistently good food and service, and hope they reopen soon.

Jasper’s was by far the best restaurant in the Domain. I hated not being able to be there on their last night! The food, waitstaff, and Management were the best of the best. I hope they can find a spot soon somewhere in the same area. I can’t wait for new spot to open. Thanks to all staff and good luck in future! Hopefully near future at the new home of Jasper’s Austin!

You only have till May 21st to enjoy Jasper’s! They are closing! Don’t cheat yourself out of some of the best food in town by not coming here in time! The cocktails are sublime and the food we had tonight was unforgettable. Get the app of prosciutto wrapped shrimp with grits, the flat iron steak, and the salmon. Also their signature app, potato chips with blue cheese sauce drizzled over, goes perfectly with any drink. The waitstaff can’t be beat and it’s the kind of place you’ll see one table with jeans and shorts and another in pearls and silk, but no one looks out of place somehow. They plan to find another location in Austin but that will take months. We hate to see them leave the Domain and hope they stay north when they reopen to their loyal fans. We will definitely be first in line.

WOW, was this place underwhelming. High prices, but minimal return. No wonder we could get a same day reservation. The wine by the glass list was small, which would have been fine in any of the wines were palatable, but the waitress knew nothing about any of them, and if you’re asking $ 18-$ 24/glass, I feel like it’s not asking too much for you to know your stuff. We started with the calamari, which the waitress claimed was a must-have. It was ok, but not fantastic, and certainly not a must have. My husband started with the wedge salad– or should I say wedge soup. When you leave a completely uneaten salad on the table it should be a sign. Main entrees were good, but very pricy for the portion size. I had the pork tenderloin that was well cooked and had good flavor, but still nothing I would write home about. The Mr. Ordered a steak which was cooked to his liking, but again, nothing extraordinary. Overall, very expensive for a very blah experience. Do yourself a favor and wait a few minutes at a better restaurant, you’ll be glad you did.

My wife and I had our 5-year wedding anniversary dinner here last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Having personalized menus noting our occasion was a great touch! We started with the fried calamari that had a sauce that I’ve not had before which was excellent. My wife had the rotisserie chicken with couscous and the combination of textures and the perfectly sautéed vegetables were terrific. I had the sirloin and tuna which was not as good as my wife’s dish. The medium-rare steak I ordered was mostly rare and only 1 or 2 of the small pieces was actually what I was expecting. The tuna, however, was delicious! Our water, William, was very knowledgeable and helpful — — he made a great wine pairing suggestion for my entrée. Excellent. The butterfinger crème Brule was outstanding! Having a note written in chocolate around the perimeter of the plate telling us «Happy 5th Anniversary» was another great touch.

Came here because our group didn’t want to wait for food. Group ordered appetizers and smalls and wines. The flatbread was sparse on toppings, small for $ 11, and absolutely ordinary for taste. Like I’m talking about I like Papa Johns more. Tried the soup — nasty and overally salty. The bread basket for $ 4.50 is a joke. Most places serve complimentary bread that is better tasting, has more options, and just more in volume. Seriously do not get the bread basket. We are in Texas. We should be able to perfect the burger. My friend didn’t even finish hers. Service was average. Got some dirty plates with finger prints which annoyed our group. Now you know why there is no wait at this place on a bustling and beautiful Sat at the domain.

I was invited to Jaspers from my best friend from college because Jaspers is their favorite restaurant. I had their favorite standard –the tenderloin. Amazing!!! Our waiter was awesome! Our wonderful waiter bragged about how Jaspers was a finely tuned machine that cranked out consistently delicious food! It was easy to work there because of the great staff, clientele, service and great food! Kent Rathbun can be proud of Jaspers in Austin! I am!

Took my wife to Jaspers for her birthday. They were awesome! Made reservations using the open table app. Jaspers called me the morning of our reservations to confirm. Also since I let them know on the open table app that it was for my wife’s birthday they went the extra mile and had a custom menu printed with Happy birthday and her name on the top of the actual menu. Not to mention on the complimentary dessert plate in chocolate as well. The food was incredible and our waiter was exceptional. They definitely made her feel very special. So thank you Jaspers. I scored major points with my wife because of the special attention you gave her.

Had a Birthday dinner there last night. They were great! They printed A message for my girlfriend on her menu as a sweet surprise. They also gave her free dessert with a candle. The staff was very polite! We enjoyed our evening.

When you state this on your menu, «Slow Smoked Baby Back Ribs, «Bön Appetit’s Top 3 Choices for«America’s Best Ribs», You might want to make sure your chefs don’t boil the ribs, slap some crappy sauce on it and present it to a Memphis native. =D Apologies were had, we didn’t ask for a refund, but I let them know how obvious it is and if they run out of actual smoked ribs, to tell their clients they’re out of ribs. It’s better than disappointing them with boiled ribs. Any $$$ restaurant should always know better. Probably will never be back unless someone else invites and pays. Service was good. Food, no. Just no.

Directly across from the loud and hopping Blackfin Ameripub bar, next door to the always crowded and humming North, Jasper’s sits half empty at 7:30 on a Saturday night. What’s going on here; did someone decide Jaspers was not a cool hip place to be, in a city that lives and dies on cool hip? Inside is attractive and comfortable, and the outside patio is quite nice, though this evening the weather is windy and unsettled. The service is excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, professional. First up, a barrel aged bourbon house specialty cocktail that was ok at best. Crab Cakes for appetizer, attractive presentation, some nice greens and dressing on the side, the cakes quite tasty though a bit more filler vs crab than ideal. Chopped wedge excellent, a smart and convenient plating of a classic, enhanced with a single huge onion ring. Score. Wife also seemed very happy with the chicken masa soup. Always happy to see prime flatiron steak on a menu, and was an excellent choice. I almost always reach for the salt after a bite or two of any steak, but this was perfectly seasoned, and the mix of baby spinach and sauteed mushrooms as the side on the plate amped up the flavors even more. Got the creamy baked potato salad as a shared side based on waiter recommendation. Really tasty. They should come up with something sexier to call this dish; because without the recommendation I’d not have ordered a «potato salad» and certainly not expected a warm, flavorful delicious side. Desserts are described as «minis», encouraging sharing of multiple dishes, even with a discount for 3. Butterfinger crème brûlée was excellent, and at least 6 large spoonfuls, so hardly a tiny dessert. Didn’t so much care for the house made butterfinger cookie that came with, though I think that’s just my personal taste. Espresso hazelnut ho-ho was also tasty, though way too much to finish as a third«mini» between us. If you’re done drinking at Blackfin and want some dinner, or if you don’t have a reserve at North and it’s just too crowded, don’t hesitate to check out Jasper’s. Maybe it’s a bit old fashioned, but even though we’re blessed with living in Austin, we don’t always have to head straight for Eater’s «hottest restaurants right now» list.

This place is amazing. The service and ambiance are wonderful. And the food… my mouth is watering just remembering what we had as I write this review! We started with the Prosciutto Wrapped«Shrimp ‘n’ Grits», which was two jumbo shrimp served with a small tortilla filled with grits, and a lemon-thyme butter sauce. For entrees my wife had the Pan Seared Sea Scallops & Shrimp with a yellow curry-coconut sauce, and I had the Rotisserie Prime Rib which smoked and then grilled(the server said they sell out of this every night, and I understand why). For dessert we had the Butterfinger Crème Brûlée which was delicious, although coming to that decision looking at the choices on the dessert menu was very difficult. Jasper’s is now on our short-list for fine dinning in Austin!

First time here in the Austin location. It will not the last. These homemade chips with melted bleu cheese were amazing — a complete surprise. Add to that, the perfectly cooked pork tenderloin, and I went back to the hotel a very happy boy! This was so great, Chef Rathbun!

This is more of a 4.5. Service is for sure 5 stars. Our server Jacob was the perfect balance of being attentive and not intrusive. Good personality and suggestions. The calamari was delicious, definitely going to try that at home. The ribs were good, but not blow your socks off for us. Husband was not a fan of the«baked potato salad». The broccoli soup, old fashioned, lemon drop martini, and chicken flatbread were all very good.

The pork tenderloin and ribs are spectacular. Service was awesome and with really knowledgable servers who cared about the food. We had a corporate event there and it’s a nice place but not uncomfortably fancy. Imagine a ‘comfortable sophistication’ where you can order a nice bottle of wine and smash your ribs. They have a great patio and its in an area called the Domain, which is cool but not really a place that has a lot of character. It’s a newer development so it’s somewhat trendy. It’s also however a great place to entertain coworkers and clients. Great wine selection. Great prefix menu and great menu in general.

We went for dinner on a Tuesday evening to celebrate our anniversary. My husband made reservations via Open Table, but we got there at 6:30 and were seated immediately(probably don’t really need reservations on a week night). Our server(I think his name was Rodney?) was excellent. Super quick to greet us and get drinks/appetizers coming. We ordered the basket of bread to start… it’s kind of a bummer to have to pay for the bread rather than it being a free treat as you wait for your entrée, but this bread was worth it. The basket came with some flatbread, slices of French bread, and 2 cheese/jalepeno biscuits w/a garlic herb butter. Loved it! For the main courses, I got the pork tenderloin w/jalepeno corn and onion rings + Texas Peach BBQ sauce, and my husband ordered the prime rib that came with two small baked potatoes. Both were incredible, although my dish was pretty spicy. The pork and the prime rib were cooked perfectly, and we each only ate half to take the rest home for lunch the next day. Thanks, Jasper’s!

To be fair, I’m only posting about HAPPYHOUR, and this is a good one. The $ 5 happy hour cab is definitely drinkable and we loved the brisket tacos, and pork satay. This is our new after work, «go to» for happy hour. I also tried the Curly Spinach-Baby Kale Salad with a Meyer Lemon/Yogurt dressing. It was to die for, I’ll go back, simply to have this salad. Service was really good, even in the bar. And, the staff is very friendly. I may love my S Austin, but this is a very friendly vibe.

For some reason I had a hard time finding the strength to write this review. I think it was because the first half of the meal was below average. We ordered gin & tonics(our favs) & got a glass of red and white wine. Both recommended by or waitress and both good. We started with the calamari appetizer which I was really looking forward to, but actually led me a little disappointed. :/I believe it said«five spice» but it wasn’t spicy at all! The waitress(who was very sweet) ran off a list of salads they offered so I just picked the one with spinach… I absolutely LOVE salads and I had a hard time getting more than 5 bits in. I think I actually hated the salad. I believe it hard spinach, kale, beets, dates?, pistachios, and yogurt… yea, now that I’m writing it down I think I dug my own grave. Lol For entrées we ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and the shrimp & scallops. When I first saw how my potatoes were served I thought it would be tasteless and under seasoned. I was wrong and quick to judge… and I apologize. Lol. The best restaurant mashed potatoes I’ve ever had.(I think) The salmon was good too but I think they could give more. I didn’t try the shrimp but the scallops were good. I’m so glad we decided to order dessert because the ice cream sandwich was the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth & anything that happens before that can and will be forgiven. :) So the dinner went from bad, to worst, to tasty, to WHYMAKESOMETHINGSODELICIOUS! Lol

I went here for a company dinner and it was fantastic. The male waiter was extremely nice and helpful to everyone there. For me, this experience was personally uplifting as well. Usually when I go to company dinners that are in places that do not have many or any vegetarian options on the menu, they get annoyed that I ask for an option(even if it’s just not including meat on a salad), but here they did not mind at all. My waiter said«We’ll take care of it. Would you like a surprise meal?» I figured, why not? I ended up having the best alfredo I’ve ever had in my life. I will have dreams of that pasta, it was so amazing. The waiter was very careful that there was not a single ingredient added that would make me ill. Afterwards I decided to go with the dessert he recommended, the french toast dessert with ice cream, and it was amazing. I believe it’s called«Dessert Toast» and it was well worth trying indeed. Overall, I had a great experience here that was really accentuated by the service I had that night. The food was amazing and I hope that I will be able to eat there again in the future.

When you come to the Domain, you’re expected to pay a premium for everything, including food. That’s certainly the case here at Jasper’s. The in-laws were in town so we dropped by for a «fancy» dinner, which translates to dishes served in large plates with small portion sizes. For appetizers, we ordered the Crab Cakes, the Five Spice Calamari, and the Italian Mushroom Sausage Pizza. The crab cakes were pretty good, just as advertised. But come on, $ 8 each for 1 thin slice of crab cake that’s not even 3″ in diameter?!? They are good, but certainly not the best I’ve ever had. Next, the calamari plate cost $ 15 and comes with 12 small squid pieces. I mean… calamari is still just calamari, no matter how many spices you add to it. Even the in-laws who are used to eating«fancy» food were a little shocked by the small portion size, lol. The pizza is a safe bet, get it. For entrees, we ordered the Rotisserie Prime Rib, the Wood Grilled Pork Tenderloin, and the Mac n’ Cheese Cast Iron side. The prime rib was well cooked and juicy at the same time. If you don’t mind the price, this is probably the best item on the menu. Also, if you order the 16 oz option, you can share it between 2 people and they would even bring out 2 sets of plates with 2 sets of side items. The pork tenderloin came with 3 giant pieces to onion rings to make the plate look a little fuller. I almost LOL’ed when it was served. But jokes aside, the pork was cooked well and the sauce had a nice kick to it. The cast iron sides are smaller than they appear in pictures(surprise!) but I think they’re worth a try. Overall, the entrees were on par with what I expected from a steakhouse like Jasper’s. They could certainly fix their pricing on the appetizers though. I don’t see us coming back here any time soon, especially with the other options around the area. But if you’s in the mood for some decent steak, give this place a try.
