Bartenders can be a little standoffish but otherwise really good food and vibe going on here. Their bloody Mary’s are on point if you like spice.

Realistically 3.5 stars. Good value, quality drinks, quality deals throughout the week. Don’t expect to be blown away but for the price I enjoyed my experience and have no problem going again.
Bloody mary’s are very spicy and are $ 6 on Sundays, wing Wednesday is pretty good, taco Tuesday with $ 5 margs never disappoints.

Was touring Rainey and came in for a drink on the way up the street. Everything here was A-​OK. There was a dog at the end of the bar that was a little too anxious and yippy for my liking. Got a margarita that was ok but a little over priced for what you got. Didn’t try any food or anything other than the one cocktail but the overall experience was pleasant. Not the best option on Rainey in my opinion but still a good option for good drinks and environment.

Hands down the most disappointing Sunday brunch I’ve ever had. Probably why this place was the only one on Rainy that didn’t have a line on Sunday. I read the reviews and was stoked to try the pint mimosas. Sadly, I found out that they aren’t really pints. They fill up a pint glass with ice and then pour the mimosa over it… so you probably get half a glass of actual mimosa. And it’s watery from all that ice! Gross.
Now let’s talk about those $ 1.49 breakfast tacos they brag about. Sounds awesome right? Nope.
It’s $ 1.49 for a egg and cheese taco only. Salsa, bacon, potato, and sausage are all an extra 75 cents per item per taco. So you’ll probably end up paying around $ 13 bucks for 3 breakfast tacos with bland salsa, even though they advertise $ 1.49.
The only thing good about this place was the queso, music, and patio. Which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one.

On Rainey street and want some food with your booze? Head to Javelina. The guys behind the bar were friendly. There was a good selection of Austin area beers on tap along with others. I am an Austin Beerworks guy so that makes me happy. The burgers were pretty legit though! I would come here again if I were on Rainey Street. Don’t know that I’d make a special trip for it but if in the area, probably be a top choice!

We happened here one time actually looking for a bar with food and seem to keep coming back mainly for the green chile pork fries. Man these were so good. The queso with pork was great flavor.
We came back again another time for these fries. I had ordered regular fries and my order came out with sweet potato fries. Nothing against sweet potatoes but man I strongly dislike sweet potatoes. Moreso what irked me was they ran out of regular and didn’t ask if I still wanted it. It would’ve saved them the effort and not wasted food.
All this aside, if I happen on Rainey I’ll still be back for those green chile queso fries (regular fry style).

Bar staff kind of rude if you only order water (I guess it would be better if I ordered s beer) and keep coming back for refills. And yes we ordered food!
Food orders are order at the bar. Everything we ordered was great! The javelina eggs are fantastic!

After a long flight, we went downtown to check out Formula 1’s FanFest scene and to grab some grub. After walking around for a bit we wound up at Javelina. The place was packed. To order food, you have to go to the bar. They give you a number to place where you are sitting and the food will be brought to you.
As newcomers to the town, this was different for us. However, my wife and I were lucky to score two seats at the bar. The computer system had to reboot which was their reasoning for the long wait time to take our order. That was the biggest downside.
We ordered two Thirsty Goats (last time my wife was in Austin this was her drink of choice and she wanted this to be her first drink of the trip). As for the meal, she got a veggie burger and sweet potato fries. I wish I got what she ordered because that was delicious! Highly recommend. My burger was a little overcooked and not the best. Sorry I can’t remember the name of it (Miga?) — I recall an egg and cheese on it.
Overall, the vibe was good and my wife’s first meal in Austin made her happy. I’d check them out again.

Javelina is a great place to start the afternoon/​night off with great drinks, or end it with delicious food! The bartenders are very knowledgeable and can make a mean drink. Last night was PACKED (25+ people) around 10ish and Jocelyn was the only one behind the bar. She was FANTASTIC. Kept a smile on her face while keeping her composure with the rush of people.
If you want a great laugh with your drinks, Brandon and John will make it happen! The staff in the kitchen must be very skilled because the food is always delicious! Look out for their daily deals. You can’t beat a $ 5 hamburger!
They also play really great music with live bands on Thursday nights, DJ’s on the weekend. The staff is great at keeping the areas clean, and they a pet friendly! Anytime I am out, I usually stop off here for a quick drink, or a relaxing afternoon hanging out.

I don’t always go to Rainey St., but when I do, I go to Javelina. Great food, great drinks, live music, sports on the television, AND I can bring my pup!

This may need to become my new Taco Tuesday stop. With $ 2 beef tacos and $ 4 house margaritas, you can’t go wrong. We came here around 9pm on a Tuesday and there was a decent crowd inside but the food still came out right away. There was only one bartender so it did take about 5 or so minutes to place our order.
I ordered 1 taco and one margarita. Once I place my order, the bartender asked if anyone else was getting margaritas since they are made by hand and about 5 other people all raised their hand. Because of this, the margarita did taste like it was lacking any alcohol at all but it still tasted like margarita.
The overall atmosphere here is very laid back and calming and I will definitely be back.

Javelina happy hour is from 4−7pm and they’ve got half priced appetizers and drink specials. I think they also do Sunday funday and some other nights where they offer specials, but I’ve only been to their happy hour. The atmosphere at Javelina is relaxed and it’s set up like a little house, as are all of the bars on Rainey. They’ve got sliding glass doors that lead out onto the back patio. When it gets later in the night, the bar area can get pretty packed.
For my drink, I had to try the margarita flaca, since it’s made with Topo Chico. Yum. I also ordered their queso and some javelina eggs. The queso was actually really really good. The eggs were hard boiled and fried with a crispy pork sausage exterior. They were served with a very spicy chipotle aioli.
Oh and one of my favorite things about Javelina is that their outdoor bathroom is always so nice and chilly. I’ll be back to try Sunday funday once the weather cools down.

We ordered from the Happy Hour menu with Mimosas First and can I say Yummmmmmmmm! Then I tried the Sangria… it was yummmmm too but notice the decreased number of «mm». Then my life was blown away by the Bloody Mary ahh just straight yum infinity!
The only non-​HH items we ordered were the Fried Chicken Tacos and Green Chili Pork Tacos (each come with 2 tacos each). I’d have to say the Chicken was my fav! It was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and topped with that Habanero Peach Sauce! Everything about it is perfect and I wish I were eating one right now!
Love the vibes and music and the doggies and everything!

I had a great brunch experience here on Sunday late morning/​early afternoon.
After seeing the line for Banger’s down the street, my friends and I were like YEAH NO THANKS. We wandered around Rainey for somewhere else to eat and found Javelina.
I think this place is known for being a bar, but it actually offers a pretty good food menu and great brunch specials. I’m talking $ 3 pints of mimosas (heavy on the ice, but also heavy on the champagne with a dash of OJ) and $ 5 Sangrias. They also have a special on bloody marys.
If you’re looking for a Sunday brunch, I’d suggest getting there as they open at 12. Soon after, the place will FILL UP and fast. There are a few tables inside, but most of the seating is in the front and out back in an outdoor patio. When the weather is nicer, I could definitely see myself hanging on their patio with a drink. It was a really nice, chill ambiance outside.
Order at the bar, and they will give you a number and bring your food out to you.
I’m not one for breakfast food so I ordered off the menu, although they had several brunch items on the chalkboard next to the bar that aren’t on the menus. I had the blackened fish tacos (an order has 2 tacos) which were pretty good and the right portion size. My hubs had the grilled watermelon salad, which he really liked. We shared some of the green chile pork cheese fries with our friends. They were pretty good, but if you’re worried about your arteries or your waistline, I wouldn’t order these just to eat by yourself.
There are bathrooms outside, and they are much bigger than they look and were relatively clean, which I appreciated.
Street parking — it’s kind of a mess right now but we found something after searching a bit.
We had a decent experience here. If we’re ever back in the area, we’ll definitely come here.

Saturday evening. My first time here with friends who were visiting ATX and wanted to check out Rainey street.
Had a Porch Swing which I loved, also had the green chili pork cheese fries, they were only ok.
However the Lady DJ (!!!) was spinnin’ a great 90s old school mix of Hip-​Hop and R&B. We danced for a few hours and the birthday girl had a great time. Fun time with a cool crowd.
Definitely will be back.

After a long bike ride around the city we ended up at Javelina to grab a refreshing drink. Our gentlemen barkeep «John Hancock» –slightly gingered haired man with an epic mustache– delivered excellent service throughout our visit. We wanted to stay on the lighter, more refreshing side of a cocktail. Without a beat John asked us if he could make a drink for us made out of freshly cut watermelon and mint leaves. Of course you can John! The presentation and flavor were «on point». John is a great reminder of someone who is passionate about his job and giving the customer a great experience.
P. s. We also witness John carry chairs over to another group without them even asking for assistance– he instinctively helped! What a fabulous human! We will be back next time we are in town! Thank you again John.

Every time I’ve gone to Javelina it’s been packed. This kinda sucks because I think I’ve only ever seen two or maybe three bartenders working which makes waiting for your drink even longer.
I am in love with the Sandiamo. It is incredibly refreshing! Fresh watermelon juice and vodka. Only downfall is they are $ 9 each and with how quickly you can drink them your wallet will be hurting later. And I guess maybe your head too ;)

We came here on a Sunday during our bar hopping trip down Rainey street and were pleasantly surprised with the deals! $ 3 pints of Mimosas and $ 6 pints of bloody Mary’s. You can’t beat it.
They have awesome outdoor seating – picnic benches in the sun and shade. We came with a large bachelorette party group and thought it was great for crowds. They have pretty cheap breakfast tacos on Sunday’s and we also ordered a basket of fries that were seasoned incredibly. Salty and spicy fries were the perfect compliment to our afternoon drinks.
The bartenders were nice and friendly. Great place to stop on Rainey!

They have VERY CHEAP pints of mimosas on Sundays, but don’t let that fool you — they fill the pint with ice first. The crowd is very Rainey Street, as in, it’s pretty identical to the other bars, but what can you expect? The place is generally quite busy, and even has food! I can’t vouch for the food (because I’m a drinker and forget things sometimes), but it’s passable at best. They do have breakfast tacos, but eh, the last one I recall was so-​so.
Like most Austin bars, this one has a patio, and is constantly filled with live music. Mostly bluegrassy-​ish type bands, and nothing to write home about, but hey — it’s the Austin schtick. Rumor has it there’s a new Guinea fowl on Rainey Street (R.I.P. Geraldine), so it may be worth it to get some «pints» of mimosas at this establishment, and crawl around the area in hopes of seeing the new, strange bird.

A fine-​looking bar on Rainey St with some nice, spacious outdoor seating. There’s a nice mix of outdoor low tables and larger picnic tables for groups, as well as high top tables with bar stools indoors, and of course, the bar itself.
I don’t drink much but I did have the burger and it was lovely.
The bathrooms were in pretty decent condition as well.
