Just Concrete Floors

Stay away from Just Concrete Floors. Total nightmare experience.
We got a quote to do polished concrete floors in our duplex. It was supposed to take 3 days. The first day went okay, but then everything went wrong after that.
Communication with the company was always difficult and unprofessional. We checked up on how the job was going on the second and third day. The job was NOT done by the third day and we noticed a few issues. After multiple phone calls and texts we connected with them to ask them to address the following. (Spoiler alert: none of them were addressed.)
* They left holes in the concrete and many unfinished/​unpolished spots and edges. They filled SOME of them with white filler (that didn’t match the rest of the floor) on the last day but did not polish them.
* Gone missing: an iPod, stereo, tool kit, hammer, and channel locks. They were either stolen by the employees or went missing by negligence (leaving the doors unlocked or something)
* They filled our garbage can with concrete dust. It was too heavy for the garbage truck to take away so we had to empty it by hand into individual trash bags, which are now sitting in our backyard and we have to take them to the dump ourselves, which is a huge inconvenience and extra cost.
* During the course of the job, they used all of our contractor garbage bags instead of bringing their own, then we had no garbage bags at the house and I had to buy more.
* They left trash around the house, including soda bottles and cans in our toilet tank.
Their equipment disappeared a couple of days later without any notice (despite the fact that we asked them to call us when the job was done). We called them multiple times asking them to come back and complete the issues that we had discussed. A few days later, we received one or two passive texts saying someone was trying to get in touch with us (no one ever did). Then they invoiced us saying the job was complete.
I cannot understand the complete lack of care about the customer experience, quality of work, or seemingly anything. I really feel that they should refund my deposit if they cared at all about the integrity of their business, but I’m certainly not expecting it.
Here’s my alternative recommendation: We worked with Remi from Texas Concrete Flooring
to repair the shoddy work done by Just Concrete and complete our floors. Remi worked over Thanksgiving weekend to complete it just in time before we moved in to our duplex. He did a great job, and I would highly recommend him. We will very likely be hiring him to do the other unit in our duplex.

Floors look great — BUT, not without a few hiccups…
We hired Steve and Andy @ Just Concrete a week before we moved into our new home. We had gross/​old tile that needed an update so we figured let’s do it before we move in.
Talked to Steve and he estimated that he could get it all done (demo, removal, stain and seal) in one day. So we booked!
However, here’s what happened:
*The job actually took 2.5 days, narrowly finishing minutes before my movers showed up
*I asked explicitly that the upstairs be taped off to avoid dust everywhere — they didn’t tape it off and my entire (clean) house was covered in dust from the demo
*Andy promised that he would hire cleaners, on his dime, to wipe down the house before I moved in — that never happened. (If it did, they did a horrible half ass job)
*There was a TON of bonding agent (blue gunk) ALL over my baseboards, toilets, sinks, doors
The lowdown and my advice:
*The floors turned out great. It’s a rental so we weren’t super picky on the complete finish of it. I have a feeling the job was rushed because there WAS a deadline and there ended up being tiny bubbles/​holes in the finished product. That being said, I’m super glad we did this before we moved in.
*I would HIGHLY suggest (if you are a clean freak like me) that you leave time and $ to hire a professional cleaning service after these guys leave (if they are doing demo work). The dust was more than I bargained for and I’m STILL trying to get the blue gunk off.
Overall, we are happy with the finished product and the overall service — I guess I wasn’t prepared for how much of a mess a demo can be. From now on, we will make sure to hire professional cleaners after any demo work.
Andy and his team are good at what they do — and I would recommend them to anyone in town.

The reviews are deceiving. My floors turned out ok but Andy comes out and gives bid. Came to job the first day then disappeared and the rest if the job was completed by total idiots. According to my husband anyway. The first day the work crew were great but the second day not so great.

I’ve had a lot of construction work done for my business over the past 8 years and this is the first time I’ve had someone do it faster and cheaper than what I was told to expect. After they scored and stained my floors they looked amazing and they did the whole job in one day. So glad I went with them!

I owe Andy this review as of a few months back since he finished the job on time in budget and at a good price. We recently bought a house dated 1992 and it had the original carpet upstairs and down we removed because of allergies, asthma, and the cats that used to live in this house. Needless to say we tore all that out and did concrete floors downstairs and put in bamboo upstairs as installed by a friend of Andy’s at his recommendation. We were ok with Andy’s recommendation primarily because he did such a beautiful job on our first floor.
Initially we spoke with Andy quite a lot and he was not short or annoyed with us at any point, yes we bugged him a lot. I would note that when color choice time came around we all found it best that I’d gone out and found a tile sample of the color we wanted, verbal descriptions are rough. Andy has sample sheets of colors but I think the tile sample gives you a better feel for it. Andy matched it almost exactly!
What I find best about a concrete floor is that it’s REALLY nice to walk around barefoot on in the heat of the summer as it stays cool, it’s super easy to clean. The surface itself retains some of the hand made look as it’s not a mirror flat but a more high gloss liquid look left by the gesture of the trowel spreading, it’s very subtle though and has an organic stone look to it.
The down side is if you drop something made of glass it’s just like dropping it on your tile floors. Also we had the benefit of having most of our stuff in boxes when we moved in and all the dust the process kicks up everywhere, cover your stuff or even move it out. So being careful with dropping things on it, and a good cleaning later all is great.

It’s taken me a year to finally get around to this review. We bought a new house last summer, and started calling around to get quotes on stained concrete floors. My wife eventually called Andy and he came over to the house that day. He brought his iPad and we were able to see examples of his previous work. Andy was very professional yet relaxed, and was flexible with his pricing — we offered to remove and dispose of the carpet and linoleum tile for a lower price. When Andy and his team arrived, we hadn’t removed all the linoleum. They took care of the rest at no extra charge. The job was finished on time, and looks great! Everyone that comes over immediately has floor envy. I would definitely call Andy again.

I called ACF at 5, and at 8 that eve, Andy came by. I explained that we had a faucet break in the downstairs, and a flood had ruined a carpet in one room, a storage area, so we needed the carpet pulled up and the concrete underneath stained and sealed, and the rest of the downstairs floor, which was already stained concrete, needed resealing. He started to describe how we would need to pull everything out, living and dining room furniture, and when he saw my face, he said, here’s another suggestion. And he proceeded to tell me to just pull out the carpet ourselves, paint the concrete a color that somewhat matches the floor in the adjoining room, and put a coat or two of Mop n Glo on all the floorings, old and newly stained. I felt relieved because with everything else we need to do, the drywall patching, painting, water-​damaged kitchen cabinets pulled out and replaced, Andy gave me a solution that was doable and cost-​effective, a big concern as it doesn’t sound like my insurance company wants to cover all that needs to be done. So, ACF didn’t really perform their usual service for us, but I appreciate their advice and willingness to help. That says a lot in today’s business climate. Oh, and Andy didn’t charge me a cent for coming out!

I had purchased the wrong material at Home Depot to stain my floor and after rolling it on I came to find out that it was not the right product. True stain is acid stain– now I know!
I called Andy at Austin Concrete Floors and he put me at ease, told me what to do to get the old stain off and said he’d come over the weekend to save me and for a FRACTION of the cost I had been quoted by another company. Andy is affordable, friendly, personable and really makes a concerted effort to be sure you are happy with the end result.
We’ll definitely be using him for all our concrete needs.

We recently had ALL of our plumbing repaired in our home, which destroyed our floors and slab throughout the house. We looked at all of our options, including re-​tiling, installing hardwoods and stained concrete. We received bids on each job, and decided to go with Austin Concrete Floors. Not only did Andy underbid all of his competitors, but he came in with ideas and suggestions that helped us to make our decisions on color, style and finish. On top of having the best bid, he also set a firm timeline to be done in 4 days, which included removing the existing tile, leveling and overlaying the concrete, staining and finishing. I literally laughed at him when he told us this, but he was serious.
Our project was no small task, but Austin Concrete Floors did a masterful job, held to their bid and even came back to fix some issues caused by a plumbing contractor who dropped a bathtub on, and damaged, our beautiful new stained concrete floors. Andy came back out, spent a couple of hours on the problem area and fixed our floor, without charging us for his extra work.
We’re very pleased with the work of Austin Concrete Floors and will be spreading the good word for them. Thanks Andy! We’ll be back!
