To those of you that had the unfortunate experience of dealing with John of JW Construction, or to those considering hiring him, please watch interview by KVUE Defenders Thursday 11÷19÷15 at 10:00 pm.

I too was duped by this idiot… he did a half decent job on a neighbors house and when I got competing bids, he came back and said he would beat the best offer by 10%, that right there should have tipped me off to at least do some research on this leach… But I didn’t… 7 weeks into a 3 week project and only 30% complete and this low life comes back to me ands asks for another $ 3k on top of the $ 16k I already paid on the two draws!!! On top of that, I have his subs coming to me to pay them! One guy is threatening to put a lein on my house…
Now he won’t answer emails, phone or texts… the address he lists is a vacant house.
If you cross paths with this scumbag, avoid him at all costs!
Better yet, knock the last few teeth he has out of his ugly head for me, the other customers he has screwed over, and especially for the sub contractors he has left out to dry!

He is a con artist who doesn’t pay his contractors and usually his clients get leins slapped on their homes. Jon or jw construction has many people looking for him due to him ripping them off. He lies constantly with no conscious what so ever. If you want a night mare ca jw construction. Definitely will make your remodel experience a living hell.

I really wish I could have read these horror stories before hiring John Wasley! I hired him on ⁰⁸⁄₂₀₁₅ to repair several thousand dollars worth of repairs to my home and gave him a ¹⁄₃ $ to start the work the following Monday however, he cashed the check the same day and gave me the runaround for 2 weeks using the same excuse he gave his other clients in these reviews that he was busy finishing up the UT campus dorms or other excuses came later that he was in the hospital (dates don’t match up with other clients). Be aware he will hire cheap labor in which will result in terrible outcomes! The reason I mention this is because the subcontractors caused more damage to my home, they caused a leak that went directly to my dining room in which John instructed the subcontractor to only paint over! To make matters worse, he ordered tile that I had NOT chosen but what he chose because it was cheaper and then brings the tile and the subcontractor to install the same day! In addition, I also paid him for 600 ft of tile and there were 3 boxes of tile left and John stole those boxes from my garage and he himself told me he took them back and got a refund however, I told him that I had paid for all of the tile and wanted my money back however, he never responded back. I did not allow him to complete the other work we needed done because he is not reliable, he gives «fake dates» when he says he will start the work or complete the work. When part of the repairs were finally done, he promised (as he always does) to remove the trash from my garage however, my garage was left trashed! The old vanity, wood, old toilet, grout, ect was left scattered. In addition, a couple of his subcontractors informed me that John’s checks constantly bounce or he takes too long to pay them for any work and I was warned that my house can be placed on a lien if he did not pay them. He cannot be trusted, he is a thief, a liar and a con artist and honestly this man belongs behind bars! I pray that someone at some point will stop this man from continuing to victimize people. You have been warned!

I contracted John Wasley of JW Construction to be the GC on 2 renovation projects that involved painting, tiling, wood floors, kitchen installation etc. What a horrible mistake. Much like many of the other reviews (which I wish I had read prior to contracting him) things started quite well and continued going well for about 2 weeks. I guess it’s at this point that the sub contractors ask to be paid something. When they’re not paid, they leave and a new crew arrive on site and I’m told a story as to why the previous crew had to leave.
After this happenned for a second time I realised something wasn’t right. Due to my suspisions I contacted a couple of the subs that had left and were told they had not been paid, that no banks will cash his cheques and that he cancelled a cheque that was written to one of the guys. I also had one of the unpaid contractors take matters into his own hands to get some money and steal a microwave, 2 toilets and 5 ceiling fans from site, while yet another of the unpaid subs contacted me directly to advise me he was placing a lien on the property.
While all of this is bad, the money is not the only problem — The quality of the work is also terrrible and despite Johns many assurances that it will be fixed, he vanishes (along with a sizable deposit and progress payment) and I had to employ another contractor to complete the job.
John Wasley is a fraud and a liar, who when I confronted him about the payments assured me they had all been paid (yet he would not sign anything to that effect when I requested it). Please do not make the same mistake I did. Stay away from JW Construction. If I could give less than 1 star I would!

John contacted me to do some gutters on a house. We finished the gutters on the house then John didn’t answer the phone after we finished the gutters he still has not paid us for the gutters we install for him. I would not recommend John.

JW Construction was recommended by a friend who had no issues with the subcontractors John was using. But DID comment that John did not show up unless he was there to get paid.
This is the first time I have ever dealt with a contractor and hopefully it will be the last. The experience with JW Construction is the single most frustrating thing I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with… And I have opened up restaurants from the ground up.
It all started off fine … crews came out. fixed a rain gutter issue, replaced rotted dry wall … remodeled a sun room
But once the rains started in mid-​June. things seemed to fall apart.
After two weeks of no one coming out, I texted and called John to find out what was going on … Reply was «will be out Monday.» Which then started 4 days of a promise to begin work and no one showing up … Requests for John to come out went unresponsive.
Then I have a subcontractor show up asking about getting paid. Told him that sadly, he must take it up with the prime (JW Construction — John Wasley). His response was that John was not returning any phone calls or text.
Finally a week later, John calls me saying that he was in the hospital over the 4^th of july weekend and that he can get guys out to complete the remainder of the work (replacing an exterior door and building an exterior staircase off a 2^nd story deck).
The sub contractor comes out and does a fair job … Needed to fine tune some things, Towards then end of the job, the subcontractor starts asking about getting paid. I once again tell him that the prime is paying him per contract. The sub AGAIN tells me that John is not returning phone calls or texts.
I try to contact John, with no response, over the weekend. I tell him that the sub is refusing to work unless he gets paid and there are still several items to be completed.
I go by the address listed on his website as his business address, and am shocked to find that it is a vacant home that looks to be in the stages of remodeling. (BIG WARNING SIGN)
Send him a final email stating that he is default of contract and has until Wednesday to contact me and resolve this issue.
He contacts me Wednesday afternoon and says he was in the hospital again. We decide to meet in person later the next day to discuss payment of subs etc.
He failed to show up and has not returned any phone calls, texts, or emails.
Now I have been informed by the subcontractor that he will be filing a lien against my property.
So all in all …
Save yourself some time and trouble. Do NOT use this contractor unless you like frustration, lack of communication, legal action taken against you.
I would post a lower star if possible.

In June of 2015 we hired John under contract for a fair price to paint the exterior of our house, add gutters and shutters, as well as fix any repairs needed for the exterior. The first day, the men he hired worked efficiently to power wash the house but then sat around for about 4 hours waiting on materials and instructions from John. Day 2 was very similar. The men worked to make repairs then waited around for about 4 more hours on our front lawn. Day 3 was the first day for painting. I walked out to see the entire house being covered in one color, which was not the agreement. I spoke with the painters and they said that was the instruction given from John. As I spoke with them, they agreed that it didn’t look good and the garage doors as well as portions of the trim needed to be another color. The painters were fabulous and listened and made suggestions as to where to put specific colors. They paid extreme attention to detail and we are pleased with the paint job. After the paint was completed, another man hired by John came to put on the shutters and gutters as well as install a band on the base of the house. We had some holes that needed to be filled with expand foam and then covered with the band. As the man was putting up the band my husband walked out and noticed that he did not fill the holes. He said he didn’t have any expand foam so we supplied him with 2 cans we had left over. Once the gutters and the shutters went up we thought everything was complete. It looked complete at least. That’s when my husband and I did a double check on the gutters and found that every single seam and end cap leaked and the water didn’t flow correctly in the back. We called John and the man that installed them came back out. He was there for about an hour then left. We figured he sealed them and corrected the flow. We didn’t check them again for a couple days to allow time for drying the seal. Once we got back up there we saw that nothing had been fixed except for the flow on the back gutter. All seems were leaking. We called John back and he said he would send someone back out and that we had a year warranty. No one ever came. We called several times throughout the following three days and didn’t receive a phone call back. It has now been over a week without contact and we have little hope that it will get fixed. Though we are happy with the paint job, I cannot recommend this company in good confidence because the job, as stated in the contract, has yet to be completed. We would like to give more stars, but the lack of attention to detail and the incomplete job prevent us from doing so.
