Katherine Farady, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Farady for a few years now and I have to say I’ve never been so comfortable at a Dermatologist office. The girls up front are always really professional in scheduling my appointments (and handling my insurance changes)! I never have to wait too long until I am taken back to my room and the waiting room doesn’t feel stuffy like most offices either!
I have dysplastic moles, which means I have to go every year to get them checked out for cancer. Dr. Farady has removed a few moles for me and I have to say it is relatively painless!
Dr. Farady is very friendly and never forces me into any awkward chit chat. She is fairly straight to the point, which I really like! I never leave her office feeling confused about anything that has gone on during my appointment. She answers my questions very clearly. Her office also uses tablets for their patient notes, which is pretty neat and I feel it speeds up her work compared to having to return back to a computer every few moments.
I would most certainly recommend her office to anyone looking for a new dermatologist!

I would definitely recommend Dr. Farady for fillers. I am more than pleased with how my lips turned out. She was very conscientious and didn’t rush at all making sure I understood everything she was doing and possible side effects.
The front office staff and nurses are also very friendly and helpful.

The staff, including Dr. Farady, knew that I found them through Unilocal,so my treatment there may not have been typical. However, Dr. Farady’s nurse spent a lot of time with me, Dr. Farady herself spent a good amount of time with me, too, and the two handouts I received were helpful. The cost, the result of a 25% copay, was affordable.
I’ve only seen her one time.

Dr. Farady is a very helpful and sweet dermatologist. My first visit was kind of awkward mainly because of the concerns I had, but she was very calm and non-​judgmental and took good care of me without making me feel any worse.
She even gave me a little discount to help the fact that I’m self insured, and talked to me about options for keeping healthy skin. I will definitely come back to her for all my skin care needs. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs a dermatologist.
Her test results were prompt and she even called to answer any questions I had about my lab results. Luckily I’m all healthy! I know i can go back to her for any concerns.

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Farady, and she’s by far the best derm I’ve ever been to. I went in for a yearly skin check, but also because I’ve had serious thyroid health issues this past year which have really taken their toll on my skin.
Dr. Farady was awesome. While very thoroughly checking me over, we talked about my other issues and how to heal them naturally — not once did she mention antibiotics, steroids, or any skin care line that she personally sells in office. Her suggestions were basically diet changes, and natural vitamins and supplements, all of which I can go buy on my own. She also sent me home with bags full of samples that can be purchased at CVS and Walgreens. No product pushing.
I felt that she was genuinely interested and concerned with my health and wanted to help. It’s so nice to finally find a dermatologist who understands and agrees with alternative and integrative medicine. I will definitely be back.

I went back to get on an Accutane, even though I felt like they waisted my time previously I didn’t want to do the new patient dance at a another place, and they’re really close to my house.
After talking about it I decided I’ll just try all the alternative stuff they wanted me to take. So here’s where I’m at now. They have me on Fish oil, some herbal thing called «Naturally clear» which has tons of vitamin A and a micodose of doxycycline. For topical I’m using Acanya Gel during the day and Tretinoin at night.
It’s a pain to keep up, but it’s actually working amazingly, I haven’t been this clear since I was 10, and I’m 37 now.
Still, the nurse kind of went off on all this stuff while being oblivious that I didn’t care, and it took 40 minutes when it should have taken 10, but still hey, I’m clear!

Dr. Farady’s office is wonderful!
I have been lucky in that I’ve only needed to go once or twice over the past two years for medical concerns, but when I did Dr. Farady offered great, professional and very effective care. I highly recommend her if you have skin concerns.
Recently I decided to try laser treatments for some stubborn red spots on my face. David did the procedure and the results have exceeded my expectations! In just two treatments my trouble spot is GONE, and my skin is looking immensely more even and clear. It’s obvious that David has many years of experience, and his easy going personality is a big bonus.
I’d also like to mention that the front desk staff is very helpful, and they get an A++ in communication. I prefer to set up appointments via email. They always answer my requests within hours and even once on a Saturday!
I’m a big fan and will remain a long term client!

I had been to multiple dermatologists in several cities, including a ritzy one that shall not be named in Austin that encouraged me to purchase expensive light therapies and the like. Fed up, I switched to Dr. Farady and was amazed at how quickly she and her staff, especially David, fixed my multitude of skin issues:
–Acne: I had tried literally every treatment including Accutane and every topical cream ever. I spoke with David for what seemed like an hour about my entire skin regimen and he recommended a brand new regimen, including only one prescription for Acanya (which has a manufacturer’s coupon and is available for ~$ 35, not $ 500 like mentioned in another comment, way worth it), as well as some products available at any grocery store or pharmacy. David took the time to tell me how to exfoliate, when to moisturize, etc. and was realistic about the expectations I should have about my skin. As long as I follow the regimen, I haven’t really had any issues and my skin looks better than ever.
–Moles: Dr. Farady has done annual skin checks on me and is no-​BS when it comes to moles. I had one where she could have insisted removal and gotten paid, but she left the decision up to me and said that though the mole was a bit odd, it didn’t look dangerous and we could watch it for another year or so. I opted to have it removed anyway and it was benign. I appreciate her openness.
–Yeast: Have you ever seen folks at the gym in summer with white-​ish splotches on their backs and arms? This happened to me and I learned it is a common Texas ailment that occurs when there is a buildup of yeast on the skin due to excess moisture in the atmosphere combined with working out. The white splotches appear because the yeast-​y skin won’t tan like surrounding skin. A simple antifungal regimen and antifungal shampoo cleared this up for me.
–Acid burn: I had a crazy looking splatter of brownish spots on my hand one time, and Dr. Farady quickly diagnosed it over the phone as an acid burn which occurred because I drank a Corona with lime on the Fourth of July and the lime juice dripped onto my hands, which were then in the sun. I was strongly encouraged to do a better job at sunscreen application.
Happy to recommend Dr. Farady’s team to anyone. David is the first person who really understood what it was like to have bad skin and wanted to help me improve mine.

My experience with Dr. Farady and her staff has been about as positive as I could hope. I was referred to Dr. Farady by my GP due to persistent skin issues, the source of which baffled my doctor. While the office is very pretty and spa-​like, I cannot emphasize enough that this is a professional medical office first and foremost.
Dr. Farady was open and frank with me about my issues, treating me like an adult. She thoroughly explained the testing that was being done, the treatment options, and what I could expect to experience. While she is a skilled practitioner of traditional medicine, she takes a holistic approach as well, treating the systems as well as the symptoms.
Her staff, right from the office staff to the nurses, have been professional, friendly, and helpful. I can’t think of anything that I would change. I am in MUCH better shape now; my skin is almost completely healed, and I am much healthier overall.

I called at 8 am to set up an appointment on the same day. She did not have any spaces available, but the lady on the phone talked to her and she received me on the same day. (That says a lot!) They listened to all the issues with my skin. They recommended me some products for my skin (all in different price range which is great) and they were really friendly AND honest. Immediately after starting the treatment, I started seeing improvement on my skin. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a good committed dermatologist.

I’ve been to her twice so far. One time, last year I went for a skin check. It was okay, not great not bad. Mostly, I’m off put because she has really odd bedside manner. I’m fairly sure if I did have skin cancer, she would say it very bluntly and leave the room right after. It’s a gorgeous office but she may need some quick lessons on working with humans. I know this is pretty common for MD’s but it’s also an important part of the service to me.
Recently, I went in for some concerns on my face, and she diagnosed me with a very weird diagnosis without even looking at my skin or listening to any other symptoms. I literally spoke 1 – 2 sentences and she wrote me a prescription for something I am 99.99% sure I don’t have.
Friendly office and great products available. I am sure all the cosmetic treatments are great which I’d like to try sometime. I’ll definitely be getting a second opinion elsewhere in the meantime though!

I met with Dr. Farady and she met my medical needs, which is why i gave her 3 stars. her facilty is clean and very nice, and has ample parking which is why i gave her the additional star… However i was not impressed with her bedside manner. I am looking for a dermatologist who is a little more personable. who listens to my concerns so, i am still on the hunt. she was not a good fit for me, but may be a good fit for you. before i waste time/​money going to the doctor i research my situation though-​roughly online and although some doctors don’t like/​appreciate that i will cont’ to do it. This is my body and I want a very clear understanding of what it is doing and WHY it is doing that. I don’t want someone to just pass along a diagnosis or medicine with out fully explaining why/​how i came to be in this situation. if anyone has a recommendation email me :)

Wonderful SilkPeel facial!

This was my first visit. I wanted to get a few moles examined to make sure nothing looked serious. I enjoyed the sun a lot when I was younger and now moles and sun freckles are popping up. My time with Dr. Farady was less than ten minutes total. I had to ask her twice to look at a mole that concerned me and brought me to her office in the first place… She rushed through my visit and even gave me a handout to read on skin care because she said she doesn’t have time to visit with patients. I was rushed out and my co-​pay was $ 50. I did not feel like I had even seen a doctor. I was more than disappointed.

Dr. Farady is very thorough and reassuring. I left her office feeling so much better and saw results quickly. I will definitely continue to seek care from her. I also love the fact that there is an esthetician operating at Balcones Dermatology. Meg is fantastic and gives lots of good advice. She recommended a glycolic peel and switching my cleanser. Can’t wait to go back and see her again.

Katherine Farady is my favorite doctor ever. I rely on her knowledge, skill and honest advice in cosmetic matters. Even more important, however, is her expertise and excellence in dermatology and general medical matters. Currently, Dr Farady is effectively treating my persistent skin rash, while working methodically to identify what may be its various underlying causes. Dr Farady also resolved my daughter’s ongoing acne problems with a single visit. Dr Farady is thoughtful, creative, kind, and generous with her time.
