Specialties

Kelly’s Cakes specializes in designing one-of-a-kind cakes and cookies to celebrate your life’s most treasured moments. Whether your event is small or large, simple or elaborate, Kelly’s Cakes makes any party a sweet success!

History

Established in 2008.

In 2008, Kelly’s Cakes started as a small private bakery in San Antonio, Texas.

In 2011, I moved back to Austin and started working with Becky Nichols at her bakery, A Trip to Bountiful. I also worked (and still do) with her non-profit, Loving Libbie Memorial Foundation. The foundation provides relief to the children and families staying at the Dell Children’s Hospital, Clinic and The Ronald MacDonald House, by providing them with cakes made for their birthdays and end of treatment parties.

As of March 2014, Kelly’s Cakes operates as a home bakery business in North Austin. I continue to expand my client base by focusing on one basic value that I hold very dear, quality over quantity.

Meet the Business Owner

Kelly S.

Business Owner

Hi There! My name is Kelly Smith and I am the owner and operator of Kelly’s Cakes. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I have a deep love for my family, music, art, food and fun. In the many years I spent working in the service industry, my understanding of the art of cooking and food preparation grew as well as my enthusiasm for learning new things. What started out as a mild obsession, turned into a true passion for cooking & baking. It wasn’t until 2006 that I had the opportunity to explore the artistic side of food. I avidly pursued the art of baking and cake decorating, and as an artist, the concept of cake designing came fairly easily to me. I spent the better part of two years focusing on honing my cake recipes, structure building, and decorating techniques before starting my business in 2008.

Since then, I have become an award winning decorator in the That Takes the Cake, Sugar Art Show & Cake Competition. I now also teach decorating classes as a Wilton Method Instructor.
