Lard Have Mercy

Loved this joint! Everything was fresh and really good! The guys were really good at recommending what we may like and were also very friendly. I would definitely recommend Lard Have Mercy to others and return.

So this was my first visit to the truck and oh my God that was delicious! The Mac and cheese balls with Siracha must have been developed in some deal with the devil bc it was amazing. When you see this truck go say hi and eat all the fried deliciousness they have to offer. You won’t regret it.

Love this food truck! It’s a bacon lovers dream! Bacon nachos, bacon wrapped chicken tenders… everything I’ve tried has been fantastic!

Lard have Mercy is not for the faint of heart. If you are on one of the new, trendy diets — actually, if you are on any sort of diet, this isn’t the place for you. If you are a vegetarian, this isn’t the place for you. if you are allergic to gluten, this isn’t the place for you. But if you are in the mood for some deep-​fried food for your soul — then you have come to the right place. The chicken-​fried bacon (yeah, you read that right) is incredible. A lot of places are now doing this, but no one does it better than Chris. Chicken strips are another thing that might not sound particularly sexy, but when crusted with bacon salt and dipped in bacon gravy, they are taken to a different level. Don’t forget about the deep-​fried Oreos either (if by this point you are still conscious) — straight out of the best carnival that you have ever been to.

The single best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth! I also had the best fried pickle chips I’ve ever had.

Chris is awesome and puts a smile on anyone’s face. His fried food is so yummy and delicious that whether your happy or sad you will be singing and dancing for joy:)

Let me begin by saying that the owner Chris is superb. Fun to talk to, he clearly cares about the entire experience and yes, he has the Jedi-​savvy to fry you some stuff up real nice.
Of what I’ve tried I have to rate the fried pickles as ‘tasty’ and the chicken tenders as ‘just okay’. They latter could’ve been juicer, however they do come in a scary-​generous portion size. A huge surprise for me were the fried Oreos which I honestly expected not to like so much, but which instead stopped my heart… with deliciousness.
I’ll be back for those as well as the hotly anticipated pig mascot!

Yesterday I wrote a goal for the week on my mirror in dry erase marker. The goal was to eat healthy.
I then stumbled upon Lard Have Mercy, and that goal was gone! LOL
Today was really hot, so I don’t know why I decided to stop by a food truck after class, especially with fried oily foods because I hate eating that on a hot day. But I’ve always wanted to try this place and my stomach was growlinggg.
Let me just start off by saying… if you like bacon, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!
Me and my bf ordered Three Little Pigs, Boom Chica Wow Wow, and the Pig Sty. Oh! I also checked in and got myself a free fried twinkie! (my first twinkie. ever.)
Three Little Pigs was just so good, especially with that marinera sauce. It was the first thing I ate out of the 3 so maybe thats why I chose this as my favorite. But everything about it is just good together and don’t know what else to say besides go get it and taste it for yourself. I’m not a hot dog fan, but my bf is and he really liked how the sausage in the Pig Sty was huge (ha ha ha) and the mustard was different so he really enjoyed it. Although I remember him saying how he didn’t like how the onions were not fully cooked so it still had that crunch rawness to it. Oh well, I guess to each their own! My main course was the Boom Chica Wow Wow and its still sitting next to me at home because I couldn’t finish it… not in a bad way! But everyting was really heavy. I do however love the batter that the chicken was dipped in and that gravy… JUST TRY IT!
Overall, I loved everything. Except next time I think the fries could be more crunchy instead of soggy. They were also oozing out oil a bit. I think I can only handle this place like once every 6 months cause its soooo heavy. But soooo good. Also I do think this place is a tad but over priced. If everything was $ 1 cheaper I think it would be better!

When I found out about Lard Have Mercy I couldn’t get enough of the Three Little Pigs (fried macaroni and chews with bacon). I came back for the next 3 days straight. After while I got to know the owner Chris (real cool cat) and now I stop by everyday to hang out. When you order, ask for the ranch with jalapeño, it’s so bomb.

Seriously. Great meal. Had the Juicy Lucy bacon burger and my wife had the Boom Chicka Wow Wow chicken strips. Topped it off with the Bebop Chips fried pickles.
Chris the owner nailed it. He’s a great guy and you can tell he really puts the effort in every meal. Just stop by behind the UT Co-​Op and try it out. You won’t regret it.

Do you ever have a meal that you have to instantly review because it was epic? Well that and/​or you may go into cardiac arrest!
This was that meal. Deep fried goodness has me feeling like singing praises. Lard have mercy! Can I get an amen? How about a hallelujah? Stop by and get taken to culinary church! So, can I get a witness. I must confess that I had the boom chika Wow Wow (chicken tenders) and fries!
I even got a free deep fried twinkle for checking in on good old Unilocal.It was well worth paying for. Decadent and creamy with a crisp bite to it unlike at other spots. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the twinkie. The owner, added some strawberry sauce, which was a good recommendation.
Nice, delicious, and good quantities at a good price, owner operated and big red. You don’t need coca cola or dp or that trendy Dublin crap when you have big red and orange. Oh how I enjoyed this. Lard, have mercy!

Pretty decent monte cristo sandwich; just not off-​the-​charts like Hey, You Gonna Eat or What’s monte cristo. But be wary if you’re one of the first customers of the day, because the oil might not be hot enough to cook the sandwich properly!

Chris, the owner, is a young man who knows how to run a business. The menu is short and simple. He was open in talking to me about his food truck business and just a friendly guy. He was partially out of chicken to make a full order and sold it to me at a discount off full price. The chicken tenders and fries were great and servings were much larger than I’m expected to getting from food trucks. I expect him to do well in the future.

I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment. First off, damn. I mean damn, the food is good. Not just OK but good. My favorite is the 3 Little Pigs, it’s easily the best fried piece of anything I’ve ever gotten from anyone. And I’m a native Texan where we deep fry everything. The Foghorn Leghorns: amazing. The Juicy Lucy? Get out of here with your weak-​ass In-​n-​Out pretend burgers, this is the real deal. Food Trucks of Austin, beware, this man is your reckoning and undoing because it is that good.
Second, he catered our wedding. Now, I’m not just talking up my own wedding, but nearly all of my guests came up to me and my wife and told us this was the best wedding food they had ever had. Smothered Chicken, Pot Roast, and the Cornbread Casserole were pretty much all gone. The Cornbread Casserole had so much butter in it that water condensation was beading on the top of it.
Let me give it to you strait: if you want a quick bite to eat, or you want him to cater your wedding, anniversary, hell even your funeral, get this guy to do it.

First time here. Another great food experience that my son brought me to. We had the chicken tenders, Monte Cristo sandwich, deep fried Twinkies and deep fried Oreo cookies. My only negative was the French fries ended up very soggy and «limp».
However, when you are eating a meal that makes heart surgeons smile, soggy fries should be the least of my concerns. Great food, great service and the owner was very accommodating. Now I have to go and make an appointment for an angioplasty!!! Hey wait a minute, could my son possibly be under the impression I have money I’ll be leaving him someday? Ha, jokes on him.
And for the encore a couple of weeks later, deep fried mac and cheese. Fantastic, amazing and my new favorite food. Didn’t think you could improve mac and cheese, but Chris has!!!

They are celebrating their one year in about a month, so congrats to them! The gentleman that owns this place is so friendly and it just makes me like the place that much more.
We got a burger, the bacon wrapped chicken, and fried Macncheese. The burger was such a steal– it was huge and nicely seasoned. The fries were good, but I wish they were a little crunchier (it could have been soggy because we took it home). The bacon wrapped chicken was good but a bit dry. The Mac and cheese was good and the sauce added a nice element to it, plus it was a little too dry.
Overall the food was good, not crazy yummy I am going back ASAP, but it was a 3.5… The guy that runs it is such a sweetheart though! Offered us a beer or drink while we were waiting:)

This place is crazy good, you just have to try it for yourself, don’t just take my word for it.
So I got the Foghorn Leghorns (i.e. bacon wrapped chicken strips) and they were fried to perfection; also, the jalapeño ranch that comes with them is delish. The flavor was really great, although I tasted more flavor from the bacon than the chicken, I’m not complaining.
I also had the Three Little Pigs, which are the deep fried mac ‘n’ cheese balls. These puppies are anything but little! They’re huge and the tomato sauce that comes on them is surprisingly good. I say «surprisingly» because when I think deep fried mac ‘n’ cheese, I think of the Fried Holy Mac from Pluckers, and I eat those with the ranch or chutney, not tomato sauce, but this guy at the food trailer pulls it off nicely.
Literally everything on the menu looked appetizing, I can’t wait to go back to try more of it, you just really need to check it out for yourself.

Growing up in Waco, TX having had my share of fried goodies my expectations were higher than an average consumer. Well the results are in and south Austin you HAVE been graced with a one of a kind venue in Lard Have Mercy! From there uniquely named menu items to the succulent blend of spices that melt in your mouth while devouring their boom chicka wow wow tenders, one can’t go wrong with a pass through at this trailer. Staff is always friendly and the sitting area provides that backyard vibe you get on a sunny weekend afternoon. Great job guys, you have a winner here!

I must applaud the effort but Lard Have Mercy is still a work in progress. The Porky’s Revenge (chicken fried bacon!!!) was pretty inedible, even though it was deep fried bacon. Three Little Pigs (fried mac ‘n cheese balls!!) tasted more like meatballs than mac ‘n cheese. The Oh My Oreo’s! were pretty good but, c’mon, it’s hard to mess up a deep fried Oreo.
Three stars because the guys in the trailer were SO nice and while I didn’t try it, a buddy loved his Juicy Lucy burger.
