The increase of college food pricing seemed inevitable given the constantly growing cost of collegiate education. Unfortunately, Littlefield Patio Café did not escape the price hikes. Meal combos increased in price and no longer include a fountain drink. The fantastic pizza deal is sadly no more. The quality of cooked vegetables still rivals only that of a high school cafeteria. I pretty much only come here nowadays for caffeine and sitting outside on the patio to eat food acquired elsewhere. If you are going to eat here regularly, it’s worth purchasing the reusable carryout box to get an additional discount beyond the 10% Bevo Bucks payment offers.

Overpriced but convenient location. If you can get what you want elsewhere, don’t buy it here. The only things I get here are Krispy Kreme donuts(69¢) and free napkins.

I really wanted to give this place 2 stars, but I give it three stars for convenience and crushed ice. Their sandwiches are nothing spectacular — certainly there are better sandwich shops within easy walking distance. Their hot bar is typical college cafeteria fare — nothing exceptional, fairly safe. Their prepared salads are okay if a bit overpriced for what you get. Their daily specials are what I tend to pick — hot, fresh, well-balanced, worth the $ 6-$ 8. From my experience over the years, it does seem like they’re actually putting work and creativity into their daily specials, as well as their hot bar selections, which I must admit have improved since I first started coming here. Get there early to get an inside table. Arrive late, and you’ll bake in the sun outside. So, for the TL;DR crowd, food is so-so, but location if you work on the north side of campus makes it an easy on-campus pick. If this was not on campus, I would not come here.

Decent food but a bit overpriced. There’s not much of a variety at this place. Bacon/Sausage crossaints in the morning, Pizza and fried food for lunch, salads and drinks on the fridge to your right, and a deli section. The good thing about this place is location; it’s right next to the Forty Acres bus stop, SSB, and Burdine. The outdoor patio is also nice when it’s not typical Texas weather(100+ degrees). Overall: the food isn’t that great but its convenience is hard to deny

This cute little café is where I used up all my dining dollars. Unfortunately though, the café only accepts dining dollars after 2 pm in order to guard against having too many students as customers. After this time, the place typically doesn’t make anymore food until it opens up again the next day, so the students come in and help eat all the«leftovers.» Before 2 pm, the café starts off by serving some of the best and most expensive food on campus. It serves croissant sandwhiches, breakfast tacos, and biscuits for breakfast; customized sandwhiches, soups, potato wedges, pizza, some kind of meat(brisket, turkey, pork) for lunch and dinner. In addition, it also has a market with the typical snacks such as chips, sushi, chocolate, yogurt, ice cream, gatorade; and a delicious smoothie stand to cool down with. So if you ever need to use up your dining dollars, this is a good place to eat. If you don’t like the food here, then I’m sorry pal, dining dollars food only goes downhill from here.

Here’s what I had for lunch today: Good-sized Pork Chop, jalepeno mashed potatoes, squash-corn medley, dinner roll, drink all for $ 6.75! Littlefield is a great place to eat on campus! The food is not pricey for the convenience and quality you get! People don’t realize that DHFS only buys from local farmers, that DHFS uses compostable products, and then recycles its silverware for reuse. That is unbelievable in my opinion. If you’re a student, if you pay with bevo bucks or dine-in dollars you get 10% off your meal! They have plenty of seating space, and people are so nice that if you don’t have room to sit, you can join them at a table! If you’re getting a sandwich from here, get it on foccacia bread! It will change your life! Not sure why this place has a 2.5 star rating…

Their breakfast tacos kind of gross me out now. They use fake eggs *ie powdered* and the thought of that makes me want gag. Literally. Yech. The rest of the food is alright though.

dear lord, please let the unusually tasty and not-all-all-nauseating experience i have had here, on campus today, not be a reflection only of what campus food is like in the summer. please, as you are gracious and kind, allow this to be a consistent phenomenon, lasting long into the fall and winter, and straight through the spring, too. i cannot afford to lose another 15 pounds in my second year to food poisoning and fear of eating campus food at UT. i would dearly like for this place to be my new calorie oasis. thx laura p. s. — will there be pizza like this in heaven? i’ll straighten up if there is. LMK!

Convenient, but low quality. The customer service is not very good, I don’t think they train their employees well. It seems like they never understand how to use the cash register and I often get overcharged or undercharged. They also serve burned food(who wants to eat that?)… If they burn it that’s their fault, they shouldn’t try to serve it. Their pizza is deadly(I don’t know where all of those pools of grease come from). They close the smoothie bar at random times w/out a set time, so you never know if you go in the evening, whether or not they’ll decide to serve you. Many of the employees are rude and you will often be standing around chatting and laughing, and ignore you completely.

My very first residence in Austin was two floors directly above this space — when it was nothing more than an abandoned, empty basement. I lived there while construction was going on, and aside from a few days of terrible fumes, oh, and not being able to sleep past 5 a.m.(in college? really!?), we were really excited about the project. I was one of the first 20 or so employees in this space, too. Back then, it was one of the only places in Austin where you could get hot, fresh, delicious bagels every day. The pizza(Villa) and smoothies(Freshens) were less stellar, and the espresso was terrible, but the bagels and bagel sandwiches were terrific, unlike anything else available in Austin. Unfortunately Alpine Bagels suffered from a publicity budget of something less than $ 10, and it closed within a year and a half, only to be replaced by the utterly unremarkable(even awful, depending on your taste) Littlefield Patio Café, run by the same folks who operate the equally unpleasant Jester City Limits on the other side of the UT campus. Specializing in sandwiches made with crappy bread and Healthy Choice meats, this café has no personality and no flavor. It’s more or less a cafeteria in the guise of a ‘café.’ Do not bother unless you’re stuck at UT.

It’s true, I have probably eaten more meals there than I should have, but I keep doing it. It is convenient, but the food isn’t great. The staff are all nice people and if anything, I go to support them, plus its close to the science sector of campus. If you’re on the run: pepperoni pizza, smoothie, or the parfait. The«daily special» usually is above par, especially when it is barbecue(or anything that is hard to mess up too bad).

A decent place to go for a quick lunch. It’s close to the engineering building. I liked the vegetarian pizza slice and pasta– it was really good. I should try the other stuff — I was told the burgers are good too.

Simply put, the graduate student population north of 24th street would perish due to starvation if LPC was not around. It is the easiest place to grab quick lunch to bring back to my lab and eat(not IN the lab of course, that would be illegal). Nothing here is awesome, they serve 42 combinations of chicken parmesan and give it different names, but the fact remains that it is close and consistent. Insider tip: Get the German lady to make your sammich. She likes to hook it up with extra meat and cheese, unlike that punk next to her who never even cuts the damn thing. I will keep going here because I have to, not because I want to.

It’s right next to my office for the days I forget lunch, and has some healthy options – plus you can look up the nutrition facts on-line( ), which is handy. Unfortunately, it also has some really unhealthy options to tempt you, and their wraps are disgusting, and it’s always crowded. The food’s passable for the institutional variety. That all adds up to mediocre but convenient.

Littlefield gets an extra star for being across the street from my office. If I wasn’t able to get there, get a sandwich, and be back at my desk in 10 minutes, it wouldn’t be an option for me. They have decent sandwiches, a good selection of bags of chips to go with(including baked cheetos!), and really gooey, chocolately brownies. And if you’re looking for breakfast, they have pretty good breakfast tacos.

I walked in. Saw the huge lines, smelled the distinct musk of undergraduate dining establishment, spotted the terrible coffee. And then walked right back out. Pity, since this could be such a classy café option for faculty and staff.

You’re different now, Littlefield Patio Café. I don’t know how to explain it… you used to be so… great. Littlefield Patio Café, as it is currently named, is officially(I think) owned by University of Texas. It used to be independent and consequentially offered longer hours and a better variety of foods. Since Littlefield took over, things have been just alright. The LPC is an ideal pit-stop for UT faculty, staff, and students. Their accessibility to outsiders, however, is hindered by their location(not necessarily their fault) and their hours(totally their fault). Reasonable prices and a variety of payment options(Bevo Bucks, credit cards, cash). Their breakfast tacos are the best in the immediate area. Sandwiches, pizza, pasta, salads and sushi are also available. And of course, the campus locale would not be complete without the quick-grab section of pre-made items if you’re late to class(but your stomach always comes first). Littlefield tries hard to please their customers. I’d give them 3 stars.
