Lone Star BMW Triumph

I just got here and they are in the middle of moving their store to their new location. I can see now why they have been so hard to reach. I am revising my review and giving them another chance. Their guys are so nice. Matt is the best tech ever.
One, critical note is that they didn’t bolt the skid plate back on my 1200GS adventure after doing my inital service. I lost 3– of 5 bolts on the ride home, but I’m sure they will replace them the next time I’m out there with no questions… or I may consider revising the review ;). everyone makes little mistakes.

I just bought my BMW R9T from lone star and couldn’t be happier. Obviously the bike itself is fantastic so they didn’t have to sell me at all on that. Sean McAfee was very down-​to-​earth, accommodating, gave lots of expert tips on the bike and was helpful every step of the way. He has followed up, made sure I had everything I needed. Right on!

These guys do a great job. I have been going to these guys for service on my Bonnie and they deliver every time. Last week I called them looking for a USB power supply and when I walked in, Matt had already pulled the item we discussed on the phone and was very knowledgeable about what it would take for installation.

So happy with my New BMW bike. All the guys envy it. The ABS brakes were worth every penny. Salesman was helpful and didn’t treat me like I didn’t know anything. I have been riding for years. I cruise it around Austin all day long. I hit the hills around Lake Travis and got it sideways. Corners like it is on rails. Very happy with my purchase and the deal I got.

I bought a Tiger 800 xc from these folks and could not be happier. The service and help are above par. I had a small problem with the factory new bike that they fixed no problem.

I have been a customer at Lone Star BMW Triumph for over 25 years, followed them through 3 location changes and purchased over 8 motorcycles from them. It was always a stellar dealership, with outstanding service. This is now in the past; new ownership has taken over.
Where do I start… before if I called for parts or service, my call was transferred and promptly answered; now, I get someone answering the phone who states they’ll «call me back; this has happened 3 – 4 times over the past 2 weeks, and I’ll wait over a hour for that call back; it usually occurs when I am busy or unavailable at my own job. I have waited over 2 weeks to get a simple blinker switch; also waited for 2 days for someone to call me back over the blinker switch. Overall, the service went to the sh*tter, and I’ll look for another dealer elsewhere for my needs.
The person who answers the phone knows nothing about the operation; I asked if they had an early bird drop for service… answer: «I don’t know, but if you give me your number we can call and let you know»…seriously? Its sad they call this progress, as one conglomerate swallows another previously very hip local business, and F*CKS it up with a poor attitude. STAY AWAY… you’ve been warned!

Been taking my 2011 Speedmaster there for service and aftermarket parts for 3 years and its what I expect from a dealer. Great group of employees. Very knowledgable.

First off let me state that this is one of the few true motorcycle shops left. It does’t matter what brand bike you ride you are part of the family who enjoy riding and working on motorcycles. There are no dumb questions here only people sharing information and their excitment about riding motorcycles!
I recently purchased a 2001 R1150GS which needed some serious repair. I was really concerned about parts availability and being able to work with people who really new and liked bikes.
Working with Lone Star BMW has exceeded my expectations. Even though I was doing the work myself there were serveral occasions when the service manager called a mechanic out to answer question I had regarding specific repairs.
The parts guy Ryan was as into restoring my R1150GS as I was. He was very maticulous in making sure I got the right part the first time. Due to the fact that it is a 13 yr old bike there were several occasions in which I had to order parts. I ordered parts on Tuesday and would get a call Thrusday or Friday letting me know the parts had arrived.
I heard that this shop is being purchased by the same company that owns Woods Fun Center on Braker Ln. It is my sincere hope that the new management does not change a thing. Outstanding customer service, great people and great vibe. This is one of the best motorcycle shops I have had the opportunity to frequent.

NEVER GO THERE!!! They are incredibly disorganized and rude.
I went for an oil change about 2 years ago and it took them 12 hours, and I had an appointment. I was sitting in the lobby the entire time because they refused to give me any kind of ride home. My bike was done though in about 10 hours, but they didn’t call me or anything. I had to walk up the desk and ask because they were about to close, and the smart ass behind the desk told me he forgot, I was sitting right in front of him.
Months after that my headlight was out, so I took it down there. Considering I didn’t have an appointment I wouldn’t blame them for taking a little while to fix it, but the autistic monkey behind the desk kept telling me about his appointment book, like I give a shit, can you fix it or not. He did say if I left it they’d get to it in 2 or so weeks. Now it’s beginning to rain outside. I figured it’d have to work, not a big deal, real BMW dealers give you a ride home or a loaner. This asshole pointed at the bus stop outside.
Good luck getting any safety recall work done, they schedule it out 2 months.
If you need any BMW work go to Dallas or Sandia BMW in Albuquerque. I’d rather ride the 600 miles than even talk to these people on the phone. Anybody that says these guys are any good probably work there, don’t believe any of it.
PLEASE GO OUT OF BUSINESS SO A REAL DEALER CAN COME IN.

I love my BMW and really want to love my local service/​dealer but typically its a very frustrating experience. Consistently late, expensive, and over estimate. It also appears the service department does not get along with the sales/​parts counter. I have been bounced back and forth between the two and rather than clarifying between themselves I got a very condescending «shoot the messenger» style rebuke from the service guy.
With that said there are positive moments from some of the staff but when I recently visited a local Harley service department with a friend, the customer experience was like night vs. day.

This place is pretty awesome because of the friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Let’s get this out of the way. I love motorcycles… I really love Triumphs… I wish I would have purchased my bike from these people but I did the next best thing. I went here for world class service.
I like communication and I love it when businesses contact you to make sure you get exactly what you want. There was no mis-​communication on any level as all their departments worked together — this is UNHEARD of.
I have never experienced service as good as this anywhere!
I had my first service done here and added on engine covers and frame sliders. The pricing was fair and I can’t stress this enough — they communicate very well.
I came on a Saturday and they had doughnuts, chips, cookies, coffee etc.
It was a good day as I was able to chit-​chat with other enthusiasts and staff about motorcycling. This place is as good as it gets.
Top-​notch. Nuff said.

Just the best! I’ve been a customer at Lone Start BMW Triumph since 1994 and I have purchased motorcycle and had them serviced here. The place is a REAL motorcycle shop. The owners as well as the staff ride motorcycle (even to work) and they are Texas friendly and nice to boot (no pun intended).
Buy here, get accessories here (the accessory shop is awesome and if they don’t have what you need they will order it for you), and get your service done here. You won’t be disappointed. I never have been. Keep it up Lone Star!

I’ve never had my Triumph serviced here but, I’ve used their parts department twice. Both times they have been helpful knowledgeable. The best thing about Lone Star though is their parts pricing. Their pricing is as low or lower than what you can get online. This includes after market add-​ons like British Customs parts.
Their gear pricing is also competitive with online prices. Which is great since I don’t know where else to get Rev’it gear in town.

Guys name i dealt with is Les I think and super helpful.
I was in town on another stupid adventure and needed a new shock because mine decided to spit out all its guts.
Of course they didnt have a new one but he ran in back to see if they had a crashed bike they could take one off. Sure enough they did and price? «mmm i dunno, hows $ 20 sound?»
Sounds like i’ll be buying all my motorcycle in Austin from Lone Star.

Bought Helmet and Jacket…
Kathy helped me with my purchases and she took as much time as I needed to make certain that my equipment met the safety I was seeking. She helped educate me and made me feel as thought this was a place I will want to keep in business.
Bought a Shoei helmet, around $ 320, and a very reflective 4 layer jacket, around $ 272, (which will get me through all the seasons) and full finger with protective plastic around knuckle type gloves, $ 50.
Ended up returning the gloves because the Honda dealership in New Braunfels was $ 20 less for the same quality gloves. (Please note… the Honda dealership had a cheaper jacket… but it was also less quality — I care about a jacket that will last though the first spill…)
Yes… the attire is kind of expensive… but it’s the only thing between me and the pavement… so it’s worth it.
P. S. I also appreciated how Kathy took the time to talk with me about my Scooter versus Motorcycle choice… I was making the decision at the time and really wanted to talk it out with someone that had no vested interest.
I’ve been back a few times since to say hello and see what’s new.
They really seem to understand great customer service — how refreshing!

I’m a new scooter rider and I decided to do some research to try and find some decent looking gear. After a short while browsing online megastores, it quickly grew clear to me that 98% motorcycle jackets designed for women looked like crappy, less technical versions of the mens. Lame! The only brand that I found that met my expectations was the Dutch brand REV’IT. I looked up their dealers, and found that the only place in town that had them was Lone Star Cycles. I scooted over there and found a great selection of REV’IT gear, and a very helpful and friendly manager, Kathy. With her patient assistance, I bought a pair of leather summer REV’IT monster gloves on sale, and the womens Tornado mesh jacket I had my eye on. Even though I do not own a motorcycle and am not part of the demographic who would ever purchase a BMW or Triumph (or touring) bike, I had a very positive experience here.
I’ve checked out a number of other motorcycle shops in town and I will recommend this as the best place to go!

Now, I don’t own a motorcycle — in fact, I’ve never even ridden on the back of one. I do, however, live with a motorcycle fanatic … err, enthusiast. His enthusiasm is catching, even for someone with zero prior interest, and places like Lone Star BMW make it that much easier. Cool machines and a nice selection of accessories.
He’s done a trade-​in with them recently that he’s very satisfied with so far. I think the bike looks pretty (: but don’t have a lot else to say. Fortunately, the guys (and woman) here fill in where I’m so obviously lacking. They have gone above and beyond, even offering to fix (for free) problems he didn’t see in the used bike until after he took it to a suspension specialist they’d recommended.
They offered what seemed like a reasonable trade-​in value for his non-​BMW bike, which will be resold by another party, and threw in some special extras with the deal, to boot!
And the most important part to the non-​biker: They’re really nice to those of us who are patently clueless! I went in to buy a somethin-​somethin for somebody or other’s upcoming birthday, and I had a nice chat with someone who didn’t ogle me like a prime piece of meat (yes, I’ve felt this elsewhere). He even talked (very simple) shop with me for a bit!
One weird note: There’s a statue of what looks like a woman bending down and looking through their front window that creeps me out every time!
Closed Mondays.

Went here Saturday to look at helmets. Met Kathy who was so knowledgeable and friendly. IM so glad we stopped in. After coming from another shop and basically getting no info from anyone it was awesome to come in Lone Star BMW and have Kathy help us. She spent a lot of time explaining everything and had us try on a few helmets after measuring our heads. Prices are a bit high but the excellent customer service we received would get me back in the door fore sure.
Kathy’s passion for riding and safety truly shows. If you are a beginner do yourself a favor and stop in and ask for Kathy.
