I have been going to Longs for over 8 years now. When I first started cleaning homes, I went here to buy my first Miele. Now I not only clean homes but I have 7 employees and run an entire cleaning company and I couldn’t have done it without the support of Longs Vacuum. I have 7 Miele’s and I love them all and Weldon put together amazing packages for me every time I purchased one and my very first vacuum is still going strong 8 years later. Doing business with Weldon or Teri or Mike has always been extremely rewarding. I would not be where I am today without this little business with a huge heart!

I have allergies and the team at Long’s have taught me the differences between the good, bad and ugly w vacuums and air purifiers. I have owned one of their vacuums for several years and recently purchased an air purifier. Terri has shared so much fantastic knowledge with me and they are all a great resource for all things that need to be cleaned.

The staff at Longs are like our cleaning family. They are personal in their care for our equipment and stand by their word. The staff (even the doggy) are sweet kind and greet you with a smile. The store is always stocked with the best products! They are informative in what they have to offer but they take the time to get to know you personally to equip you with what you need for your own family needs.

I always have the best visit with Longs Vacuum and Appliance: The best service, the best knowledge, the best products. I work with a green cleaning service here in Austin that uses solely Miele vacuums, and I am tasked with picking up vacuum bags and taking in old Mieles for repair (on the rare chance they DO need work) and every time I feel like I walk out knowing more than when I entered. This last weekend I actually just bought our first new Miele at Longs and I couldn’t be more pleased with even one of the cheapest models in the store! I am now a member who gets 10 percent off my bags and a 7-​year motor warranty with my model Miele. They really go above and beyond! DO NOT BUY A MIELE ONLINE! BUY IT HERE! You will save a TON of money and you know there will be someone in town who will make sure your vacuum runs beautifully for years and years!

After searching for a vacuum on Amazon, reading reviews until my eyes crossed, I went to Long’s, and they walked me through the process of picking out the best vacuum for my situation. I was able to try different ones; they pointed out the options, pros and cons of each, and didn’t try to pressure me into buying something I didn’t need. The vacuum I ended up buying is better than any I’ve ever used, including commercial ones, and it fits my needs perfectly. If you are tired of cursing dog and cat hair, and kitty litter scattered on the floor, then go to Long’s and buy an excellent vacuum that will last for years.

Have a vacuum from here. They are always helpful when I come in for repairs or to purchase bags. Very easy and convenient. I would recommend them.

I highly recommend this place. Six years ago my cheapo vacuum broke. I was going to go the big box store and pick another cheapo, but my husband thought we should check out Long’s Vacuum. I’m so glad we did! What a wonderful little store with the nicest, most knowledgeable folks. They took their time explaining and showing us their quality brand vacuums. We bought a Riccar and still love it six years later. And I’m super happy that it’s MADE IN THE USA! (Try to find that at the big box store!) I spent more that I would have at the big box store, but totally worth it. Recently used a borrowed vacuum and wow did I notice the difference at how cheap and plasticy it felt in comparison to my Riccar.
I’ve been back to Long’s a few times over the years for maintenance and supplies. They are always super friendly and efficient. Recently I broke the handle of my beloved Riccar. I took it in for repair. They called me the next day with a quote and order the part and had it fixed a day later. Super fast– I was expecting a least a week– and they had it fixed in two days! I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful locally owned business. Check them out!

Two or three years ago my Bissell pet eraser vacuum stopped working because the plastic near the brush had melted and fused together during just routine regular use. I learned my lesson about buying vacuums online from big box stores. I am so glad I went to Long’s Vacuum & Appliance for my new vacuum. The Miele I bought from them has worked so well, still going strong — I’ve even let friends borrow it to see it in action. Who knew vacuuming could be so fun?
My experience at the store was wonderful. At the time, I lived right across the street, and for a couple years never stopped in – the storefront seems kind of unassuming. But inside the store is bright, gleaming, and looks very nice with all sorts of fancy vacuums. I was promptly greeted by a knowledgable staff person, who went through different types of vacuums with me, the different attachments and options for the Miele, and had me use the working vacuums myself to see feel and power, etc. She even recommended vacuuming strategies for my apartment (really cool for a twenty-​something making her first big home appliance purchase). This vacuum was expensive but has paid for itself in the time it saves me (automatic plug winder!), its effectiveness, and hepa filter cleanliness (picks up the cat hair on every surface — important when you have a cat-​allergic boyfriend).
The woman gave me lemon water while I waited for another staff person to get the vacuum ready to go. She also gave me some sort of volcanic ash to sprinkle on carpet to clean it (haven’t needed to use this yet); I think they even said they’d do a complimentary one-​time cleaning of the vacuum, when I need it. I also got a card good for a discount on my next purchase. I have to return for more vacuum bags soon and I’m looking forward to it. My mom’s Kirby vacuum lasted 30 years — I’m hoping my Miele can hold up, and I’m glad I came to this store because they really know their vacuums.

I found the perfect, no frills, super reliable machine here. It is relatively quiet and light weight. Bet of all, I got to choose it in about five or ten minutes — the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and I’m sure to return because they really understand my needs without trying to sell me entirely too much machine. We came in looking for a a replacement vacuum. We had tried other stores — big box and department stores, but couldn’t find what we wanted. We are very happy that we found Long’s.
The first thing Weldon did wasn’t to try to sell us anything — it was to ask why we were looking and what the floors in our house were like. He obviously wanted to make sure we got the right vacuum for our needs — and that he also wants to make sure there’s a lasting and good relationship with his customers. We were also happy to see that they had a play area (toy kitchen and toy vacuum!) where our 3 year old daughter could have fun while we shopped.
While the vacuums sold at Long’s aren’t cheap, the quality of product they carry is high and the prices at Long’s are competitive for the types of vacuums they sell — beating most online sellers we could find. We were very happy with our decision to visit Long’s and to shop local.

In my search to find vacuum bags I thought I’d have to drive way the hell up north but after some google search I discovered Longs right in beautiful south Austin has the Kirby bags I needed. They not only carried the right bags but also a belt that busted off. They were priced right, close and had what I needed.
The man that helped me was super informative and his wife was helping some man with deciding on which vacuum to buy.
It’s a small store but the vacuums brands they have are quality and you know you’re not getting some sales person that doesn’t know anything. It’s family run and they’ve been for a long time so you’ll find something you’ll be glad you purchased. Plan on paying a big price tag but it’ll last for a long time and well worth it in the long run.
I’ll be back to this little jewel of a store for my vacuum needs.

A friend sent me here to buy a quality vacuum after my second Target special bit the dust. She reminded me that I’m an adult now, so I need an adult vacuum (especially with a sporty husband, a couple of rowdy kids, and a dog to clean up after).
Well, these vacuums are definitely for adults. The brand to be reckoned with here is Miele, with their variable suction power and array of tools that can take on all the nuances of a two-​story house with multiple floor surfaces and dog-​hair enhanced furniture and drapes.
Long’s carries all the main models in a variety of M&M colors (if stylish vacuuming is important to you), and also in black and white. Their prices rival those of Amazon, especially now that Amazon offers no sales tax break in Texas. Not to say that these vacuums are cheap. Being an adult comes with a price at times, and this is one of those.
The best thing about buying your vacuum here is the service that comes with it; Long’s is an authorized repair center, sure, but they have also been in this same location on S. Congress Avenue since way before it was trendy and probably way before it was safe. The sales people are the owners, and they will educate you in the ways of the Miele adult vacuum, and support you when and if the going gets rough. Or if you just need some new vacuum bags. And you can drive down to SoCo and make a day of it, like I did.

Unlike the several of the other reviewers, when my husband and I turned up at Long’s Vacuum and Appliance, we were not replacing a recently broken big box vacuum, but rather my husband’s hand-​me-​down Electrolux of 18 years.
We’d been looking at vacuums on the internet, considering both the Dyson Animal and a Miele. I’d never heard of Miele before, but my husband is a research-​aholic and they came highly rated. .. and highly priced. We weren’t about to make that purchase without trying it out.
That’s where Long Vacuum comes in. We wandered in on a Saturday afternoon and met Terri. The first question she had was: tell me about your floors. We described our house, our layout, our vacuum-​challenging stairs and immediately she showed us the vacuum for us. She was extremely knowledgeable about the product, answering every question we had (and we had a lot) and giving us a thorough demonstration. I have to admit, I didn’t have high expectations for buying a vacuum cleaner, but this shop set the bar much, much higher.

My vacuum wasn’t working properly so I decided it was time to take it in… so I searched for the nearest vacuum store in 78 704. And I have to tell you… when I walked in I was impressed… such a great atmosphere. On top of that, I think I just met the nicest man alive… Weldon… he was so friendly, informative, and helpful! His wife Terri was just as kind =) Turns out my belt just needed replacing and Weldon happily took care of it for me. I couldn’t wait to get my vacuum home and put it to work! I will definitely be returning to their business and when it comes time for a new vacuum I will most certainly be buying from them!

I agree with all of the positive comments about this business. I too used to buy vacuums from discount stores and they always broke down. So at Long’s I paid a little more for my Sebo canister vacuum. I’ve had it since 2006 and haven’t had any problems. Today I took it to Long’s because I thought there was a problem with the carpet component. It turned out to be a false alarm, but the service is so incredible: immediately took a look at it, figured out that there was no problem, and gave me advice on maintenance. You never get this kind of attention and product knowledge anywhere else! I highly recommend them!!!

My Economics professor used to say «There’s no such thing as a free lunch» and he was right. Long’s does not sell the cheapest products but then again they do know their products inside and out and can recommend the best product for your needs. In the case of appliances they also install and service what they sell, now how great is that? In an era of big box stores with no name salespeople who know nothing about what they sell Long’s is a gem. I don’t mind paying more for a quality product that is sold by people who back it up, its cheaper in the long run. Miele is not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Long’s is great and I recommend them highly.

Let me just start off with the only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is because I didn’t buy anything. I now have vacuum envy! I want this perfect little red vacuum but it’s more of a birthday-​christmas-​anniversary gift than valentine’s. So alas the loud dusty use to be blue plastic clunker from Wally World gets to live another day :(
I called today to ask for their hours and was told that if I needed them to they could stay open all little late for me. Wow. Once there I was shown several vacuums in my price range that would meet my needs of wall to wall carpets with cat hair. I saw two that I’d have been very happy with last night when the discussion of who gets to wear the noise canceling headphones to vacuum came up. But a little bit of research online had me reminiscing about my grandmother’s canister vacuum. I loved that thing (I also thought it was R2 D2)!
So even though I saw some very good vacuums I think I’ll save up for my favorite. No fault of Long’s, just mine own.

After two expensive name-​brand vacuums from big box stores broke down in what seemed like no time at all, I had had enough. There’s no way I wanted to spend $ 250 every couple of years for future replacements. Who would? It’s bad for the environment and a needless drain on finances.
After some research, I decided on the Miele brand (available at Long’s Vacuum). There, in that little family owned shop, I encountered Mr. Long and his passion for Miele. The man was unbelieveably knowlegeable about his product, and also knew everything about every other vacuum brand ever manufactured.
I was allowed to test drive a Miele at home for 24 hours. Wow! Needless to say, I WORKED that thing, getting into every nook and cranny. It got rid of dirt I didn’t even know we had. Suitably impressed, I returned the next day and bought one.
That was over two years ago. I’m happy to report that the little workhorse continues to perform excellently. We visit the store occasionally to buy extra vacuum bags, although that’s not necessary as the Longs will gladly mail them to you. We actually just bought some, and that was what prompted me to write this review.
Mr. Long assured me that the Miele will be last vacuum I buy. I’m beginning to believe him.

Alicia and I rented a $ 300 machine here for $ 15. These folks were nice as can be, but will talk your ear off about vacuums (short version: bagless vacuums will make you sick and everything you’ll find at Wal-​Mart or Target is crap).
I didn’t get to use it, but Alicia was in LOVE with the thing. I know what she’s getting for Valentine’s Day!
