Can’t say enough good things about Lucas Tire. I stopped in to get my truck inspected and they were really nice. I sent my daughter there with her jeep when she was having some problems with her AC. It was her first time handling a repair on a 15 year old jeep. They were very patient, and helpful. Fixed and replaced several things, before determining it needed to go back to the dealership. They refunded charges even though they did a lot of work. Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, theses guys have to have been Boy Scouts !. Thank you to everyone there.

Wow, these guys were fantastic! I was short on time getting a vehicle inspection done for one of the family vehicles. These guys occupy the location I used to use regular for car repairs and inspections so I thought why not, I’ll give the «new guys» a try. I got there a little after lunch and even though the waiting area was almost full I was promised a quick turnaround.
I don’t think I’ve actually had an inspection transaction go so smoothly. He took my info, insurance card and keys and a very little while later I was heading out the door with my magic inspection report so I can get my registration finished. Great experience, and I will use them again not only for inspections, but I also intend to try them for their claim as tire pros as well should the need arise.

Went because of the 5 star reviews and proximity to my house (.5 mile). Great service, clear communication, and quick turnaround on an oil change! Plus they do all other services (inspection, auto, etc) I’ll be back! Thanks for having a quality service in the ‘hood!

In the world of auto repair shops, Jay Lucas and his staff are diamonds in a sea of greasy «tailpipes»! A woman stuck, far from home with a 10 year old BMW late in the day, could have been the opportunity most auto mechanic look for to take advantage. But thank God I was referred to Lucas Auto in my time of need. Not only did he quickly repair my car, but treated me like a member of the family, staying open way past closing to make sure the Über driver got my son and I to our hotel safely. Every since then, when my son’s car needs repair in Austin, all I have to do is pick up the phone and call Jay. I can rest assured, in Houston that my son and I will get the BEST service at the absolute best price. Jay and his staff go above and beyond the call of duty to calm this Mom’s nerves when most would not. If you’re looking for an expert mechanic who truly cares about you then call Jay Lucas! He’s a jewel!!!

The fastest, easiest vehicle inspection I have ever had done! All the employees were incredibly friendly, did not try to upsell me anything, and got me in and out in a hurry. They even filled my wiper fluid free before I left. Perfect!!!

Want to thank you for being courteous, efficient and friendly. Went in with a flat tire and had my spare on my car. They took us in and fixed my flat and put it back on at no charge! All this while it looked to me they were very busy and still managed to get me on the road in no time. Merry Christmas to me!:) thank you again!

Really great service here. I got my car inspected AND fixed up in no time. They have a nice wait area and the owner Jay is really good at explaining what is going on with your car. I will always go here my my inspection and car service needs.

I’m SOOO lucky to have found these guys. I Will be a customer for life. I had just finished vacuuming my car at genie car wash (next door to Lucas Tire Pros) when my wheel fell off the axle driving into the car wash. The helpful manager of genie told me he would get his mechanic friend next door. The mechanic, Theron, from Lucas Tire Pros did not try to oversell me. He said it would be an easy fix and sure enough it was. The owner Jay is first class all the Way! Austin is very lucky to have such a stand up gentleman like Jay here to help us middle class drivers of used cars. My repair was estimated at $ 200 – 300 dollars. Jay could tell I was in a bind for the holidays and was not planning on having any extra expenses. The expert mechanics fixed my car in a couple hours and ONLY CHARGED ME $ 49.00. What a nice move. I’m from Austin and my Dad works in the car business, and we will refer everybody we know, and I’ll be a customer for life. Not only are these guys expert mechanics, they are honest, and try to save you money!

I love going to Lucas Tire, which is something most people won’t say about a tire store. I have recommended them to everyone and have had 3 friends have the same experience as me, which is always friendly, no pushy and excellent service. I have purchased 2 sets of tires from them and they have giving me exactly what I have wanted with out an up sale. They have given me and my friends solid suggestions on tires and really know what they are talking about. If you are in need of tires go check them out!

Super impressed by Lucas Tire Pros!
My wife had a tricky idle issue with her FJ Cruiser. We took it to Lucas and they spent a few hours on it. When we picked the car up it was much better but my wife wasn’t completely convinced it was the best it could be so Lucas (Jay and Tommy) insisted they keep working on it. WOW, they didn’t try to persuade us it was fixed or shove us out the door, they spent so much time asking us all the questions they needed and became determined to fix the idle issue.
A few hours later they fixed it permanently!

Was a little worried when a new sign went up over the mom-​n-​pop garage on the corner, but I’ve been here a few times since for tire issues and inspections with both of our cars and I’m happy to see the same honest values are still here! Very quick service and super friendly staff, I’ll keep coming back! Thank you!

I had an excellent experience with a) a quick and easy inspection last year, b) a quick and easy oil change this year, and c) during the oil change, the owner pointed out that my alignment had been off [ahem*hitacurb*ahem] and had over time created a bald line on the inside of one of my tires, which I promptly replaced, again quick and easy. The owner also referred me to Jesse Sampson of Sampson Auto Glass when a truck kicked up a rock and cracked my windshield, and they did a fantastic job with the replacement. Lucas Tire & Auto seems like good people, which can be hard to find these days.

I’ve gone in twice to this place for auto maintenance on my truck. Both times they could have tried to up-​sell me something I didn’t need, or discovered some other (more expensive) problem. It is so good to find a shop that doesn’t take this approach with customers and instead does what is straight forward and honest.
If you’re in the area and you need work done on your car and don’t know where to start, I would HIGHLY recommend you go here first!

Lucas tire and auto service is bar none the GREATEST !!!

I have many mechanic friends in the Austin area and am not shy to do most of my own work but after meeting Jay and Tommy over at Lucas we now choose them for everything from our personal vehicles to our company units, we even send our employees their way… that’s how much we trust their work.
They have been fair and honest with everything we bring them and our employees appreciate an honest opinion without the fear of them being taken for a financial ride. These guys always take the time to look things over and listen to their customers concerns. They have a very knowledgeable staff with plenty of experience.
Check them out you won’t be disappointed.

Just bought a «new to me» car and one of the tires kept losing air. I was referred to Lucas Tire by the dealership to get it diagnosed.
A woman walking into a mechanic shop with a 3 yo I felt like a target. How would I know if it needed a patch or an entirely new tire?
The attendant helping me was clean cut and professional and honest!
He found a nail in my tire and patched it up. Before I went to Lucas I had aired the tires up myself at multiple gas stations. I had no idea what to go by. When were the tires full? Plus I didn’t know which one had the leak ~
So the attendant offered to check the pressure in all my tires just to be sure they were all good.
They were VERY GOOD. LOL.
Way too inflated. About to pop.
I love when people love their jobs!
Plus I was in and out in 30 minutes.

I know it’s an awful cliché to say that I have a hard time trusting mechanics, but I have a hard time trusting mechanics. Since I don’t have a ton of automotive knowledge, I feel like I’m at the mercy of whoever I’m dealing with. My (admittedly minor) experience with Jay Lucas was so great that I feel like I’ve met the first trustworthy mechanic of my young life.
Long story short: I ran over a huge-​ass screw on MoPac (THANKS, MOPAC!!) this weekend and went to another place to get my tire patched. 40 minutes after leaving that place, my low tire indicator came on and I’d lost about 15 pounds of air from the tire. Wha? I filled the tire and it kept leaking. I went back the next morning and sat around for an hour waiting for the guy to show up, which he didn’t. Great. I figured I’d go back in the afternoon, but I wasn’t thrilled about a potential re-​patch by a person who should have done it right the first time (and also isn’t open an hour and a half after his sign says he should be).
My partner suggested I go to Lucas since it «looked reputable» and isn’t even half a mile from our house. I pulled in, explained the problem, and Jay told me up front that while redoing a patch sometimes isn’t possible, he’d take a look and do what he could. He spent about half an hour looking at everything he could– spraying the tire down to look for bubbles, filling it with 90 pounds of air to force the leak, and anything else he could think of. He had another mechanic take a look, too, before finally telling me «I hate to just send you on your way, but I can’t find anything wrong with the patch or any leak, and you don’t need a new tire so I’m not going to try to sell you one.» He told me to keep an eye on it and come back when it got low again, and apologized again that he couldn’t find anything.
I’d only just gotten back into the waiting room and sat down when he threw open the door and shouted «I found your leak!» Apparently the tire was losing air from the rim, due to a bad seal caused accidentally by the guy who patched the tire. Jay broke down the tire and put it back together, which fixed the seal and stopped the leak.
At this point he’d spent about 45 minutes just figuring out my stupid leak. When he was finished, I met him back at the counter and pulled out my wallet only to have him tell me to put it away, that he wasn’t charging me because he «didn’t do anything.» I begged him to let me pay and he wasn’t having it. He told me that he hoped I’d keep him in mind the next time I needed some work done on my car. I definitely will. Jay Lucas is a real mensch.

I’m so happy I found this place. I went in to get an inspection but left with a new mechanic. I was talking to Jay about the things the dealership was trying to get me to do and it turns out that most were unnecessary.
It’s hard to find a mechanic shop where you feel like you can trust everything they say, but this one definitely has my trust and my business.
