GREAT high quality staff/​makers and experts in this very niche skill. First, let me say that Eve and Kristen are really good teachers. Their workshop is incredibly informative and in a format that is accessible for anyone who might want to get into laser cutting, not just designers who are already familiar with the tools. The workshop convinced me to take up a membership and jump on the laser cutting train! Its worth the $ 100 a month to support the co-​op model AND make really cool things that you can sell. Now I am slightly addicted. I have been a member at MAKEatx for just under a year now, and designing for the laser cutter has become my favorite hobby. I like the tight parameters of the lasers and the materials — wood, paper, acrylic plastic, leather.
Second, they make really great stuff. If you aren’t ready to be a maker yourself and just want to support their business, go in and take a look at all the awesome art and jewelry they have. A lot of the products they make in-​house for the MAKEatx brand are not super expensive and make great gifts. they also take orders for custom work, to my knowledge. However, they seem VERY busy all the time, so I wouldn’t call them up to order like 500 laser cut wedding invitations or something.

Work did an event here and it was advertised as «play with lasers!». Honestly, a lot of people thought this was a laser tag event! I wasn’t all that excited about the event because, well… I’m not a teenager and I’m more of the ‘sit down and chat’ type girl.
I was PLEASANTLY surprised to find out this was a crafts event and the laser machines were really cool! I made a personalized coaster and a name plate. We were able to design everything we wanted from the size of the piece to the image that was sketched on the item. My only recommendations are for the corporate events, it would have been helpful to have a host help acquaint us with the process and communicate where to go and how to get started. People trickled in throughout the event and many were confused as to where to start. The main room was also quite warm since the laser machines were constantly running. Additional AC and fans would have helped.
Overall it was a fun and creative event. I loved it because I’ve never done crafts with lasers.

I attended the
sponsored Laser Cut Jewelry class. I didn’t really know what to expect, but this class was great. We spent some time looking on the internet and sketching out ideas for designs. Then each person in the class was able to develop a personal piece custom to their ideas and creative energy. I am looking for the next class ladies!

Just attended the stamp making laser cutting class at MAKEatx. These gals were awesome! Not only did I walk away with two incredible, personally designed items that I really wanted, I learned a lot about the wonderfully artful ways to use lasers! I would whole-​heartedly recommend taking a class here and signing up for a membership if you are an artist searching for a new medium through which to expand your craft!
