This ice cream was delicious, however Billy F could have been a little more cheery. He made me unhappy to be there.

The kid in this picture deserves a raise if he’s still working here. He was ACTUALLYPRETTYHELPFUL in helping me figure out what I wanted. now if only I remembered what I got. This was my first time at Marble slab… and for all I knew it looked similar to Coldstone, of which I’ve been to several dozen times in my life. I forgot what flavor I got but it doesn’t really matter because I remember it tasted GOOD. The server worked very quickly and the amount of ice cream I got seemed ginormous for the price I paid. This all happened several several months ago and I’m really late on this review but hey, better late than never right? Anyways, the ice cream tasted good, the portions were great, and the service was awesome. If I ever come back to this mall again. 4/5, would come again… maybe. When going to these types of places it REALLY depends on who’s working behind the counter. So yeah, would come again, if this kid was working, lol.

I love these mix-a-bunch-of-candy-into-ice-cream places, but there’s one given in all of this: the ice cream must be cold. Otherwise, the friction of the spatula and the candy against the ice cream just melts it down to a mushy goo. Mine was far, far too warm for a marble slab joint. After a few minutes, it became more of a milkshake. The variety of candies, fruits and flavors is good. The ice cream tastes good. It’s just not cold enough for what they’re doing. On top of all of that, the mall eating area is suuuuuuuper dirty. I think that’s a given with any mall eating area in existence and not Marble Slab’s fault, but it’s worth noting. I took my cup of mushy goo and walked with it. I would’ve rather sat down. Shame on you, Barton Creek.

The owner/manager here clearly does not care about customer service based on the reviews. The ice cream is yummy. The service is horrible. My hubby and I both ordered regular ice creams. The guy behind the counter gave me 2 scoops while he gave my hubby 3. I asked him about this and he said he gave me a regular and was not at all helpful. He refused to make eye contact with me. I also told him I wanted more chocolate and just a bit of cake batter. He gave me 1 scoop of both. I told him again what I wanted. He said nothing and did nothing. My hubby had to repeat his order several times before the guy got it right. This guy clearly hates his job. If I were this business, I would have a mystery shopper or read these Unilocal reviews and better train my employees. This has to be the worst service I have ever had in all of Austin. If the owner/manager cares it was the skinny, shorter guy working today. The two stars is because the ice cream is pretty tasty.

Please fire the chubby guy with the facial hair! He looks like he’s doing us a favor and he barely makes eye contact. I understand this is an ice cream place at the mall and Im not expecting Ritz-like service. I love the ice cream, love Marble Slab but as far as service goes this is the worst I’ve experienced!

I love the word slab. Just something about it that moves my stars around. A slab of butter on a slab of toast, slab of ribs, iron, wood or concrete. OK, that’s pushing it but the slab of stone is of the moment. When I think of it, I think thick, and that’s how I want my ice cream. MSC has a great variety of flavors, many dry and wet toppings and any number of combinations you can conjure up while you salivate on the freezer glass. I like to mix either banana rum or vanilla bean with butter pecan, then slab a mess of(that’s 3 scoops) chopped, toasted pecans. Oh My God…, slab that all together, it’s story book good, the best I’ve ever had. I have to say though, I’ve never had Amy’s for comparison, but just as well since I no longer have access to her. MSC has B&R /31 flavors beat by a country mile, and their flavors are much more funner. The young lady that waited on me was polite, helpful and friendly.

(Warning: this is a true story, not for the faint of heart.) Based on a single experience at a single location, I’ve been turned off to the Marble Slab. I ordered a single scoop of ice cream, and before I could remember to ask for it on a cone, the server had already scooped it into a cup. I asked if I could please have it on a cone instead. He explained I could only have one or the other. I politely requested if he would transfer it to a cone. The server grunted, grabbed a cone, stabbed it into the scoop, and handed the whole thing to me still in a cup. Their ice cream may be cold as marble, but so are their souls.
