I had a traffic violation in Williamson County for failure to stop for a school bus, one of the most expensive violations in Texas. I examined Texas transportation law and found that I hadn’t broken the law because the road was divided by a median and I was on a separate roadway. I argued with the prosecutors in three pretrial hearings over the course of six months and they would not budge, and refused to dismiss based on an ambiguity in the law. I finally accepted a plea agreement to lower the fine but the judge denied it without even considering the case! So I asked for a trial by jury. I hired Mary Ann somewhat at the last minute and showed up with her on the day of the trial. She negotiated with the prosecutor who then moved to DISMISS the case without a trial! So not only have I saved hundreds of dollars in fines, but I have a clean record. I had contacted other lawyers, Mary Ann was the only one who was willing to take on my case at such short notice. I am convinced that without her the prosecution would not have taken me seriously and I would have been taken advantage of. Thanks, Mary Ann.

I have known Mary Ann for several years now and she has taught me not to drink and drive. So, thankfully I haven’t needed her services for that but she has helped me out of some other difficult situations. I have consulted her about speeding tickets in the past but ultimately ended up paying them because well, I was speeding.
However, one morning I was cruising down 35 and seeing that a cop was behind me I made sure I signaled getting into the exit lane and then again when I actually exited the highway. As I was merging onto the access road the cop flipped his lights on so I pulled over. His reason for pulling me over was failure to signal, despite the fact that he agreed that I did signal exiting the highway. I was confused after he agreed with me, but continued to insist I didn’t signal, but also knew better than to argue with the cop then so I accepted the ticket. What he wrote on the back of the ticket was something about switching lanes across the solid line. Now this I may have done, but that’s not what the citation was written for, and if I did in fact cross the solid line, it was on the access road where I only switched lanes because he put his lights on. I decided to fight this one on principle and Mary Ann agreed to represent me. We showed up on my day in court and so did the cop. Mary Ann knew I was right and pushed for trial that day, the judge was pushing for us too as the woman ahead of me on the docket had no legal representation and wasn’t really prepared to go to trial. Unfortunately, we were rescheduled. Later that afternoon when Mary Ann went to check for the new date she found out the case was dismissed. I believe that the cop and City decided to drop it because they knew we had a legitimate case and we were serious about fighting it.
Another time I moved into a newly «renovated» apartment complex, which really just meant they slapped some new paint on the walls and replaced broken appliances. I had problems from the beginning, including not having hot water for a week, and a lock that didn’t really lock. I complained and complained and went to corporate management and finally got most of my things fixed, but was still unhappy with the quality of life living there. Even the maintenance staff was unhappy there. The last straw came when after reporting the exterior lights on the buildings were out and I was worried about my safety numerous times, my car and at least three others were broken into. Mary Ann helped me draft a letter stating I was moving and if they did not release me from my lease without penalties I would take them to court. It worked and they agreed to let me out without any legal action, although I did have to hound them for the letter confirming I was released without penalties. I would have hired her to help with the court proceedings, but thankfully her letter helped me get out of there without the added hassle.

The outcome of my case was better than I could had ever expected — and she basically held my hand throughout the entire process. I hired Mary Ann to take care of a simple legal matter. The woman at the front desk was very rude every time I called or went in. One time, she was talking on the phone having a personal conversation, and didn’t acknowledge me for over 5 minutes. Mary Ann resolved the matter I hired her to attend to, but admitted that she knew little about the process. Whenever I needed to ask her a question, she responded to my emails, never answering or addressing my questions. I would use her if you you have very few questions about the legal process and need little guidance. I found her and her staff to be unhelpful in adressing my concerns/​questions and was frustrated that no one would make the time or effort to explain things when I requested. Maybe her and her stafff were busy attending to bigger cases, but I found the whole group to be unprofessional and uncaring.

Met with her to get help for my daughter who was charged with possession. Other attorneys explained process but said my daughter just needed to go through the arrest process on her own and they would help with the court case. So, I was pulled over by a policeman for having an out of date inspection sticker. For real. I also forgot to replace my expired insurance card with the new one. To comply, I brought my proof of insurance to the courthouse, waited an hour, and that was that. Or so I thought. A month later I got a letter in the mail saying that I missed my deadline and I had to pay about $ 500 now. Or else they would issue an arrest warrant. I wrote a letter to the courthouse and they granted me an extension to my case. They asked for my proof of insurance again and I mailed that in. My case file has 26 different status changes now. Nowhere does it say that the case is closed and I don’t have to worry any more. The extension has passed. I still haven’t received approval from a judge for a dismissal.
I went to Mary Ann to find out if I have to worry. She quickly filled me in on what my status changes meant and where I stood. It turns out that I’m in good shape. She was very professional. I never drink and drive, but I now keep her business card in my car. I’ll certainly call her if I have any legal needs in the future.

Mary Ann recently helped me out when my friend got himself in a bind downtown at 1am on a Fri night while visiting from out of town. By 2 am I had her working for us. She stayed up all night waiting to find out what was going on. She kept me informed the entire time and told me to try to get some sleep as there was nothing I could do but wait. By 11 am she had him out and in time for him to be in a friend’s wedding later that day. She even waited downtown for him to be released. He has since hired her to help with the remainder of the proceedings. He said she is confident and he is very hopeful things will work out best they can. She is very professional and confident and you can tell she really enjoys her job and takes it seriously.
