Mathnasium is a learning center in your neighborhood where students from grade 2 through college go to catch up, keep up, get ahead, and stay ahead in math. This includes TAKS, SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, and GMAT math preparation.

Established in 2007.

Our goal is to provide a life long love of math that stems from a deep understanding of the concepts.

Meet the Business Owner

Tan D.

Business Owner

Tan earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He has worked more than 22 years in the semiconductor industry. He received awards for outstanding customer service, leadership in manufacturing yield enhancement, and power consumption reduction. He holds 5 U.S. patents.



Tan’s original goal, upon leaving the corporate world, was to become a full time math teacher. While substitute teaching, he realized that the classroom setting does not provide him with the opportunity to help students in the way that he wants to help them.

In Mathnasium, he found the perfect vehicle to fulfill his goals of teaching math to children in his community and to provide excellent service to the students of Austin.

Tan was born and raised in Viet Nam. He moved to the United States as a teenager, where he was warmly welcomed by his new neighbors in the Texas communities. Austin is Tan’s hometown since 1976, where he resides with his wife and son.
