Rolfing® Structural Integration is a system of manual therapy and movement education that focuses on creating balance and support in the body’s structural system; unlocking your body’s highest potential for expression. Limitations in the body — manifesting as pain, poor posture, or lack of ease in movement — are viewed as the result of a system-wide challenge, an inhibition in the body’s potential, rather than simply a local issue that needs to be fixed.
The hands-on aspect of treatments focus on improving range-of-motion, organizing the body’s segments so they can rest symmetrically together within the force of gravity (which we are constantly affected by), and creating efficient movement so that ‘stuck’ places can comfortably and effectively transmit force through them. This allows you to move as an organized whole, rather than an assembly of sometimes-agreeable parts. Movement education and simple homework exercises are often included to give you a better understanding of how your body can function more optimally, and the ability to proactively support our efforts out in your world, leading to long term effectiveness of the work.
History
Established in 2008.
After working as an Investment Banker in San Francisco, I asked myself «What do I believe my gift to the world is, and why do I believe it’s important to offer that?» This started my journey at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder, CO.
When I completed my training in 2008, I opened my Rolfing practice in the Austin, TX area. I started to connect with clients of all ages, shapes and sizes, to help them create a new body by focusing on the Rolfing technique to help them develop a «healthier» relationship with gravity. As my practice has evolved, I have developed advanced skills to help clients create new self-awareness and apply new types of movement for a lifestyle that feels 100 times better.
