History

Established in 2011.

We are thrilled to announce the opening of Mirror Mirror. It is located in the beautiful Rosedale neighborhood in Austin Texas at 4410-​B Burnet Road just south of 45th street. This has been a dream of owner, Martha Lynn Kale’s for a long time and it has been so exciting to see it come to life. In a recent interview with CurlStylist, Martha Lynn described why she wanted to open a salon of her own. «Even before I went to beauty school, I knew I wanted to own my own business. I have always LOVED spending time in the salon. As a client, I love the way you feel when you are getting pampered. The creative energy that flows through the best salons is so inviting and inspiring. I had a vision for a place that would be a blend of relaxation, indulgence and creative flow, and I worked toward the ultimate freedom of owning the business so I could execute it properly. I woke up one morning ready to bring it to life, and here we are».

Her work has been featured in magazines and newspapers including Austin Monthly, INsite, Austin-​American Statesman Glossy and Rare. As an active member of her community, Martha Lynn works with Dress for Success and the Junior League of Austin.

So, Midge just did my hair and I LOVE it. She’s a wonderful, funny, and she truly knows her stuff. I’m getting married soon and she’s helping me get to my perfect wedding day hair and I feel completely confident/​comfortable with her. I would definitely recommend her to anyone, especially someone who is striving to be blonde. I’m looking forward to my next appointment, and thanks again, Midge! You’re amazing.

I love everything about this salon! The team is very friendly and the finished product I’ve seen from all of the stylists is outstanding. Whitney works her magic on my color and every time it’s exactly what I wanted. Very knowledgeable staff and fun atmosphere. As long as I live in Austin (and maybe even after), this is my hair salon!

I really appreciate the salon and its people, especially Johna (excellent haircuts), Gilbert (wonderful sweet receptionist) and Whitney (who helped the transition from color to natural grey). The only slight annoyance is the parking, but I usually manage to come in at a good time. After moving to Austin from Houston, I really had a hard time finding a place who could do my hair, but now I am very happy.

Awesome work by the gorgeous MOLLY she’s also such a DOLLY shes very gentle for those who have a tender head, I love how she looks at you and knows what looks right and what’s NOT! Lol after 3 different hair dyes, no one can get what I wanted so I am very impressed and excited to have come across Molly. The salon itself from the setup, Decorations is pretty, cute, organized and clean. Every bit of that salon I love! I was watching everyone work, i got to say they seem all very talented. even though they are tucked away under a tree, your in for a little sweet surprise.

Molly Montana at Mirror Mirror saved the day by cutting my hair perfectly before my engagement photo shoot. I had a great experience at this salon. She was professional, so sweet and gave me one killer cut.
This gem of a salon is tucked right off Burnet and 45th in an adorable house. I’ve been searching and searching for a wonderful hair salon and stylist in Austin and I’m so excited I can end my search! $ 55 for a shampoo, cut and blow out — not a bad deal.

Wonderful salon. Aesthetically, it’s peaceful and pretty. It’s always clean, and the staff is always SO nice. I feel relaxed here. I only go about every three months, but I ALWAYS look forward to it, it feels like I’m on vacation. I feel like it’s been relatively easy to make an appointment, though I also have fairly flexible hours. Whitney, my stylist, is awesome. She listens to what you want, and executes masterfully. My hair looks better than it has in years. It’s a little tricky to find the first time, and parking can be difficult, so make sure you leave enough time to get there!

I do not frequent hair salons often — but felt it was time to change up my basic, brunette hairstyle. I met with Martha Lynn for color and a trim — not knowing exactly what I wanted. I told her that I was looking for a subtle change but nothing too drastic. She added very natural looking highlights on the crown of my head and trimmed my hair and convinced me to do long layers in the front to «frame my face». I was extremely happy with my hair color and the cut. Martha Lynn listened and did exactly what I wanted — but didn’t know how to express! I will definitely go back and see her again :) Oh, and the salon is adorable — what a fun and inviting atmosphere!

I have been going to the same hair dresser for 8 years, even flying to Minnesota for the past 1.5 years to continue seeing her. But, I finally decided that it was time to find someone here. For the last 6 months, I have been asking people with cute haircuts where they go. Finally, I decided to see Johna at Mirror Mirror. I am ecstatic about the way my hair turned out!!! This might be the best cut and style I’ve ever had. I love my new hair! Johna was very sweet and easy to chat with, and she told me about the products she was using, but wasn’t pushy with them. The guy at the front desk was also very sweet and friendly. I will absolutely be back, and look forward to seeing Johna for a long time!

I have been meaning to review Mirror Mirror for over a year now and after leaving yet another appointment elated with my hair, it’s time. I love the vibe of this salon. It’s tucked away on Burnet and is stylish and upscale, without being pretentious. I highly recommend Mollie and am so happy to have found her! She always listens to what I want and gives me ideas without being pushy… it always feels like a collaborative effort and I truly appreciate having that kind of experience. (In the past I’ve either had stylists who went ahead with their own agenda and didn’t listen to what I wanted/​asked for or they went the other route and didn’t speak up and make suggestions for something better when what I wanted wouldn’t necessarily work with my hair.) Mollie has done an amazing job with my color and I can tell she loves what she does – it’s not a chore and she’s always excited to help me try something new. (She’s also not afraid to fix something if it doesn’t come out quite how she envisioned it, and that’s a huge plus in my book too.) Also, I love the Living Proof product line they use – smells divine! If you’re looking for a new salon, you should absolutely try Mirror Mirror.

I am in love with Mirror Mirror salon! From the minute you walk in, you are asked if you want a beverage, which makes you immediately feel right at home. Martha Lynn always takes the time to really listen to what I want done, and always nails the blonde highlights (blondes are her specialty, I believe). Whitney & Mollie have both styled my hair on separate occasions and I would highly recommend them as well. Overall, it’s a great experience and I always walk away LOVING my hair!!!

If you have crazy hair like me then you need to go see Midge the miracle worker at Mirror Mirror ! She is amazing and really has done wonders on my hair. I had a horrible bleach job that she color corrected and did the most amazing hi-​lights on! She also gave me the best Brazilian blowout and I just love love love my hair now! Thanks midge ! Martha Lynn is so friendly and a total pro at cut and color — love that I can walk in and ask her for a makeover and she always has a fresh idea! Plus she gives great tips for simple styles and up dos I can do at home. Also have to give props to Whitney who I had when Martha Lynn was on maternity leave. She gave me the best ombré!

I have been going to Mirror Mirror since it opened. The salon is gorgeous and Martha Lynn does good work. However, every time I went there, I almost felt like she was annoyed to be doing her job. Conversation was painful despite my multiple attempts to try and talk. Admittedly, I am usually one to just enjoy a day at the salon but my visits with her were always awkward. When my friend who recommended me to her had the same complaint, I knew it wasn’t just me. I feel like in this business, people who excel at their job are abundant and it really takes more than just knowing how to do hair to keep a client coming back. I found a new hair dresser who is not only skilled but personable.

I’m usually not one to write reviews, but I had such a wonderful experience here that I wanted everyone to know about it… If you want the best haircut/​coloring of your life you MUST go to Mirror Mirror! I had Martha Lynn, the owner, take about four inches off of my hair and do a partial, it was the best cut/​color I’ve had in Austin by far. I’m extremely picky about my hair and I could not be happier with their services! I brought in a photo of a hairstyle I really liked and she mimicked it to a tee! Her highlights job is so natural looking (I’m blonde), and my blow out lasted for a full three days.
Extra perk for UT students, its really close to campus – on burnet. You must give this salon a try, I seriously can’t say enough glowing things about it!

I don’t see what all the hype is about. I saw Martha Lynn, and if you read my other reviews, the bain of my existance is when I get a haircut, ask for a bob, and get the Jennifer Aniston from 1994. I got the rachel.
The weird thing here is that I asked Martha Lynn why she became a hairdresser, and expected something like «I love fashion, or «I love hair.» She said she wanted to be a businessowner. Also, I made it clear to her that my hair is up in a ponytail most of the week, and only do my hair on weekends. while my color was setting, she told me to «browze our new product line and our gift shop, that’s what people here do.» When I was done, yes I had the Rachel, and then she tried to sell me a bottle of hairspray for $ 26.
She was nice enough, but don’t like being sold, just want a freakin haircut that is not outdated.
my color was ok though, I’ll give her that.

First of all, this salon is soo cute! I went to Jessica for highlights and a trim and she did an amazing job. I told her I’m growing out my hair for my wedding and she listened to me and didn’t get «scissor happy». Instead, she gave me a trim
And recommended a hair mask that would make my hair healthy. She listened to exactly what I wanted with my color and made sure that I left happy with my hair. No wonder her customer before me drove all the way in from Houston (where Jessica used to work!)

Since Mirror Mirror opened, I haven’t considered going to any other salon and I never will. Martha Lynn and the girls who work at Mirror Mirror are professional beauty mavens! The salon is beautiful and you will feel even more so when you leave. I love the classic and elegant interior and my hair looks wonderful for months after a new cut. I have never recieved compliments from random strangers before and now I do and I pass along the salon’s name every time. Thank you again for making my hair look amazing each time.
